(hi) Kane shook his head "It's f-fine I'm used to it." said Kane as he studied Dylan's face. He noticed Dylan had a tattoo on his neck and Kane shivered. It reminded him of a time in his life when he was less than stable.
"S-s-sooo… um… that t-t-tattoo." Kane cursed himself for being so bad with words.
"Oh," Dylan chuckled and reached to touch it. He took note of what Kane said earlier and told himself to bring it up later, he wouldn't forget. "Yeah, I got it in high school, after a friend of mine passed, I don't want to bore you with the details, but I'll explain it if you like."
Kane didn't want Dylan to stop talking because he knew he couldn't talk well so he nervously stuttered through an answer "D-do continue." he sheepishly smiled although it was more of a whince.
"Okay." He grinned sheepishly, looking down. This tattoo was a serious topic for him, he didn't talk about those enough.
"Through high school, I had this friend." He traced the outline of where the bruises on his hands formed "Well..Boyfriend." Dylan looked down, now he realised why Kane's eyes reminded him of something. "He got bullied, a lot," He continued, balling his fist, not caring about the pain that accompanied it
"a..and one day, it got to the point where-" This time Dylan looked back up to Kane,
"you know…" He paused.
"But anyways, while I was going through that I found this poem," He gestured with his hands for emphasis, "It was so beautiful, It's kind of long- but I memorised it. It has to do with what happened." He nodded, staring at the floorboards of Kane's apartment.
(Sorry it took me a while to get back… I had to go for dinner and a walk with my family) Kane nodded - he didn't press further.
"I'm sorry…" said Kane placing a hand on Dylan's back. He paused for a few moments before going to his mini fridge and opening the freezer. He got out a pack of peas and wrapped it in a cloth. He silently handed it to Dylan unsure of what to say. (I'm probably going to head to bed now night!)
"It's fine," He took the frozen peas from Kane and nodded thankfully. "It's been some years." He petted Teacup's little head.
"Oh right," He frowned "Does this mean we're skipping today?" Dylan mentally slapped himself, how could he be this careless and forget the risks of Kane getting in trouble?
Kane shrugged "It doesn't r-really matter - I'm failing most of my classes anyway. I can walk you, though, if you want me to."
"Nah." Dylan laughed. "I think I'd better lay low for the time bein'. If we're lucky then that guy won't remember what I look like and he'll leave you alone." He thought about punching the man's face again. "Plus- It's a nice day, I could show you some nice spots in the city."
Kane smiled sheepishly "Yeah… t-that would be nice." He was nervous - he didn't really understand why this guy was being nice to him but he liked it.
"Great-" He looked towards the door. "I'm not sure If you'll be able to bring Teacup, but I dunno." Dylan shrugged and started to plan out the day.
Kane leaned against the wall watching Dylan and petting Teacup.
"You aren't afraid of heights, are you?" Dylan asked, trying to hide a smile.
Kane shivered - he was but he didn't want to let Dylan know that so he quickly shook his head no.
"I won't do anything too crazy, but I know a place with a killer view of The Met." He smiled, gesturing to follow him "Let's go?"
