Vaughn’s nose scrunched up slightly at that. His were just persistent whispers. He didn’t try to ignore them, though. “Sounds extremely obnoxious,” he commented, knee bouncing in a restless manner.

Kaz shrugged. "Eh. Alcohol helps. Keeps the nasty ones away, anyways. Most of the time it's just your stereotypical 'go kill yourself' type of stuff."
“Mine don’t say that,” Vaughn muttered under his breath to himself before straightening his posture. He didn’t like staying in public places for this long. He got the urge to leave, and eat feeling like something bad would happen. But then again, that’s always how he felt when he wasn’t in the safety of the gas station. “Sounds like absolute shit.”
Kaz shrugged again. "Yeah, it kinda sucks. But y'know what they say. 'There's always someone with worse problems than you,'" he said, running a hand through his hair absently
(sorry for vanishing, got caught in math class :v)
(It’s all good)
“You should probably worry about yourself. Worrying about others gets tedious,” Vaughn responded, watching Kaz’s movements. Yes, the man was attractive, but he would never start anything with a stranger.
"Yeah, but worrying about other people helps me forget my own problems," he said, raising the half-empty beer to his lips again. He stopped himself though, realizing he was probably drinking far too much already. He took a small sip before setting it a little farther away from himself than before
Vaughn hummed brought his own glass to his lips, tipping back so he finished the glass and set it back on the table. His vision was slightly blurred around the edges at that point. But he still grabbed another glass from a passing waiter. He loved it too much to want to try and stay sober again.
On seeing Vaughn finishing his glass, Kaz decided he may as well keep drinking. If the other guy was, why shouldn't he? Besides, he was already tipsy and he didn't see any more reason to stop. He downed the rest of his beer, reaching for another from the waiter and cracking the cap off. He took a swig, enjoying the way the alcohol numbed the part of his brain that would normally be screaming at him
Vaughn looked at the label on his glass. It was something Russian, and it wasn’t half bad either. He had a good amount of bottles of whisky and vodka back at the gas station that were stored in a freezer near the back. Hell, in his state, he even considered inviting Kaz there for another drink and privacy before mentally slapping himself. “So what are you doing in the area?” He asked to take his mind off his thoughts.
(ehe, the drunk romance has begun) Kaz took another drink, debating whether or not to tell the truth. Well, he was already drunk, what was another mistake? "I live in the apartments right above us," he said, fiddling with his dog tags absently
(Lmaoo)
Vaughn nodded slowly, eyes flicking down towards the dog tags around Kaz’s neck. “Were you in the army or something?” He asked, sipping his drink.
Kaz nodded. “Yep. Four years for America. Then I came home to help my cousin and make sure my mom was doing okay.” He sighed. “Was gonna use the benefits to go to college. I wanted to build aircraft. Spacecraft, specifically. Never got the chance, though.”
“Why not? Because of the whole ‘no-soul’ thing?” Vaughn questioned, looking down at his drink for a moment before looking back up at Kaz. Man, those colored contacts were getting annoying.
“Well, when I got back from the military, my dad was waiting. He kinda took mom hostage. I spent two whole years tracking him down. And when I got my soul back from him, it took me a while to adjust,” he said, sipping his beer. “Still haven’t really adjusted. And now that I’m off the grid, I don’t think my benefits would be worth anything. And god, who would want to go through the amount of paperwork it would take to get into college?” He chuckled
Vaughn hummed and nodded slowly. “Well, you never mentioned that you got your soul back,” he said, adjusting positions again in a fidgety manner.
Kaz chuckled. “Sorry for giving you the impression I was still soulless. No, I’ve had it for about…two and a half years now?”
“And you still have those powers?” Vaughn asked with a slight frown, head tilted slightly to the side.
Kaz nodded. “Yeah. My dad was a demon who specialized in weather. So it’s not really tied to my soul. It’s more of a genetic thing.”
Vaughn nodded in understanding. “And is what you showed me all you can do?” He asked, brushing the long strands of hair out of his face.
“More or less,” he said, eyes flicking to Vaughn’s movement. “I can do far more powerful things. I once caused an entire lightning storm. But it’s difficult, and I hate doing it. The more I do, the more the angry part of me shows.”
“Sounds exciting, though,” Vaughn said. He was always a fan of storms. Most people hated them, but he considered them to be quite soothing.
Kaz chuckled. “Yeah. Happened when I was 9. I had a nightmare, and before I knew it I had accidentally knocked half the city’s power out.”
Vaughn gave a slow whistle. “Hate to admit it, but I’m impressed,” he said, downing a bit more of his liquor.
Kaz chuckled, his face going a little red. “Aww, it’s nothing really. Just a little flashy lights is all.” (Gonna be on and off, currently at the movies :v)
