“I can show you the place where we can roam free if you want?” Kaitlin said, standing up and stretching her back out.
“I can show you the place where we can roam free if you want?” Kaitlin said, standing up and stretching her back out.
"Yea that sounds more fun than this''
“Great! There aren’t many places we can go since most of this place is labs and stuff.” Kaitlin explained as she led Alexa down the hall.
Alexa trudged behind her seeing the thick black walls with nothing interesting. She saw other people but she had no idea how they got here. They weren't there when she was brought in. They really do bring people in by the minute, Alexa thought.
“We generally are supposed to stay in our cells most of the time but, through here,” She open a double set of mahogany doors, “This is the dining and general hang out room.”
Alexa saw the room. It was decent with a few sofa's and couches but nothing luxurious. She went inside further and say many tables. There must have been a lot of people in this facility.
Kaitlin followed, rubbing at her arm, “It’s not much but… for us who stay here, its everything.”
Alexa didn't know what to say. She was going to spend God knows how long in this… this prison.
“You haven’t said much, I know it’s a lot to take in and we’ve only just met but…” She ran a hand through her hair, “You can talk to me.”
"Sorry, I've been closed off. It's just kind of hard, my whole life just changed. I don't even know how long it will be until I'm out in society again and how people would look at me." Alexa replied.
Kaitlin rubbed the back of her neck, “Yeah, I’ve already been in twice and still nothing has changed. I mean, I have a few scars but still feel the same.”
"Physical ones?" Alexa asks, a bit scared now.
Kaitlin nodded, “Not many but there’s some there. You’re unconscious when they.. you know so you don’t feel anything.”
"They what?" Alexa was now intrigued, but still a bit hesitant to learn the answer.
“Well, they put you unconscious before hooking you up to this machine and try to alter your brain patterns.” She replied, shrugging one shoulder, “Yet sometimes things get out of hand, hence the scars.”
"Oh," she said. She never really knew the process.
“Don’t worry, you might be a little sore aftwards but nothing terrible.” She replied with a half smile.
"Can we go elsewhere?" She didn't really like the room and wanted to be away from it. After Kaitlin told her the things they would do to her. She didn't want to change.
Kaitlin nodded, “I’ll show you the grounds.” She replied, walking to a door on the other side of the room and opening another set of double doors and the light form outside filtered in.
Alexa quickly went out. At least see some sunlight here.
There were a few people out, some of them waved at Kaitlin and she waved back, smiling softly.
