"Life most likely," the guard huffed, "Deserves it too. Broke into the palace and then proceeded to attack the prince of a nation we already have high tensions with? She isn't getting out."

@Trix

He paused, turning over the words before prodding, "Will you hear her out, at least? From my brief interaction, I doubt she would do such a thing for spite." Wow, he was really willing to prove her innocent, Nathan realized.

@ShadeStar

"That's for the king to decide," he responded looking the elf over, "If you want to testify for the girl, then come by the palace tomorrow at midday. Her trial will be held then."

@Trix

"Noted. Thank you." Nathan mumbled out a brief but sincere apology for occupying the guard's time, before quickly being ensnared by his thoughts. He would need an excuse to return to the palace. Perhaps he could say he was searching for the pocket watch?

@Simon-Says

Aureole looked away, thinking. "I already told you what I know. But weren't you chasing that girl earlier?" She asked Nathan.

@Trix

"Yeah, I was," he confessed, not needing to fake the blush that rose to his cheeks. "I… she reminded me of someone." He glanced away, slowly dragging his eyes back to the guard. "But that's not important."

@ShadeStar

The guard looked at the elf with a raised eyebrow, "Whatever you say. Mind if I get a name so the king knows who exactly to be expecting, for both of you?"

@Trix

"You know what else is important? Making sure your body can properly function. Actions such as walking, for instance, are vital," Nathan hissed to Aureole. Turning back to the guard, he adjusted his suit and answered, "Nathaniel Lindor." Although it could've been taken as arrogance, his tone was filled with authentic pride.

@ShadeStar

The guard wrote his name down quickly and looked to the fae, "I believe your testimony might be useful to the case. Consider this a court call for you miss?"

@Simon-Says

Aureole gasped, then turned to smack Nathan on the arm. "Just who do you think you are, Mr. Nathaniel Lindor?" She hissed back, voice dripping with sarcasm. Then she turned to the guard. "That's - that's not - fine. Aureole Cirrus."

@Simon-Says

Aureole sighed. "I am so going to forget," she muttered, then collected herself and turned to Nathan. "Was it necessary to embarrass me more than I already was?"

@Trix

Nathan fidgeted with his suit once more, conceding, "Perhaps not. Though you really should get that checked out." He nodded to the guard, watching as the crowd emptied slowly. Confusion and rumors were spreading faster than wildfire, but eventually the mob dispersed.

@Simon-Says

Aureole shook her head in disbelief. "Aren't you supposed to be some sort of rich gentleman? And, for your information, being prone to tripping and falling isn't a medical disorder."

@Trix

His face morphed into an emotionless expression, a fake smile touching the corners of his lips. "My apologies, miss," he bowed, flowing smoothly through the transaction, "I shouldn't have brought up such a troubling matter- is that better?"

@Simon-Says

Aureole sputtered, waving her hands at him. "No, that's disgusting. Put it back, put it back! Are all rich people that fake?"

@ShadeStar

The guards left the trio to there dues and went to talk to the other guests of the gala. They had no need for further information from them.

@Trix

He laughed, genuinely bellowing. "Fake isn't the right word, per se. More… restrained. There are guidelines and displays of respect that must be followed," Nathan claimed thoughtfully.

@Simon-Says

Aureole stared. "That's genuinely the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Almost makes me glad I'm not rich," she commented thoughtfully, leaning against a pillar.

@Trix

A shrug accompanied his response. "Their are advantages and disadvantages to every status, I believe." His brown eyes flicked to hers, analyzing the girl. "Though, it may take a little digging to find each."

@Simon-Says

Aureole looked down and kept her gaze on the ground. Any sort of eye contact made her feel threatened. Her mother always told her she was like a cat. Briefly looking up, she nodded. "I suppose. I always felt there would be more advantages than disadvantages in having money, but to each their own."

@Trix

"Perhaps. I have not walked in your shoes," Nathan nodded, angling his head pensively to one side. His mouth twitched, eyes sparkling as he added, "And maybe that's a good thing. Your shoes seem prone to tripping and falling."
