//yes thats a good idea
(Ok Tok then.)
The tour went on for awhile until she saw something from the corner of her vision. A door. It looked like one of those automatic doors from Star Wars. "Excuse me mr., but whats in there?" She asked abruptly and pointed to it.
Matt looked in the direction of the finger the girl pointed at a doorway, and his eyes widened. “Yeah, that looks cool.”
The tour guide looked over to where she was pointing and it looked like the color suddenly drained from his face. "Nothing you need to know. Moving on!" He gestured to it and a few soldiers ran over and stood guard at the door.
Tod sighs and then barely manages to hide a ginormous yawn. He stuffs a hand into his pocket, feeling for gum. He sighs again when he remembers he left it in his backpack on the bus. His untouched notebook held in his left hand, along with a pencil, he goes along with the main group, just missing noticing the commotion.
Matt looked behind him, at the girl who had pointed, and whispered, “I really want to know, now. That guy’s reaction was uncalled for, for just a door.”
She whispered back. "I know right? I just wonder what's behind the door he doesn't want us knowing." She curiously studied it. Maybe there's a secret way in.
“Dammit, I wish my dad was still…” Matt choked on his words. “Still here.”
"Oh…" She didn't want to make him feel worse. "So was he like an astronaut?" She asked curiously
Camie was stuck in the middle of the group, right beside the teacher. She didn't mind, Mrs. Shultz had always been a favorite of her's. She was paying attention to the tour guide, but now as much as a girl in the front, who was scribbling pages of notes already. She had read a book on space just last week to prepare for the trip.
"Who can tell me the name of the first NASA spacecraft to land on the moon?" The tour guide asked. Camie raised her hand. The tour guide, looking thankful, pointed to her.
"Apollo 11," she answered correctly.
"Yes, exactly," the tour guide said and began to go into the evolution of spacecraft to make the Apollo 11 mission successful. Camie saw the girl write "Apollo 11" in big letters on her notebook and circle it.
"Oh…" She didn't want to make him feel worse. "So was he like an astronaut?" She asked curiously
“Sorta. He explored the, uh… he did the oceans.”
Camie heard someone behind her talk about oceans and she turned around. "What are you guys talking about?" she asked. She loved learning about the oceans!
"Oh thats cool." She complimented before returning her attention back to the door. The tour guide had stopped to talk about something called Apollo 13 or something. "We need a distraction." She whispered.
“Uh, my dad… my dad was a… he was an ocean explorer, I guess.”
Tod sighs again when the guide stops to jabber on. Really, he should be listening, but the stark gray and whiteness of the building seems to scrape his mind of any ability to pay attention. 'Face it, Tod.' He tells himself for the thousandth time since starting junior high. 'You're not graduating.'
A girl had interrupted them from behind. "Ummm oceans and stuff." She lied quickly. She's the teacher's pet, can't have her telling anyone.
Tod looks over his shoulder and spots the sources of the quiet voices. Clearly he's not the only one not interested in the tour.
“Yeah, oceans,” Matt said quickly.
"Oh wait Matt I forgot something over there." She pointed to a specimen. "Can you come over and help me get it?" She thought quickly. It was a quick cover up.
