Amber sighed and shut her mouth. She had given up trying to make small talk with her. "Come on Duchess." She cracked her reins and galloped to the front of the group. A stop where she would not be able to release her frustration on the others.
Kira didn't feel bad- not really. The small invisible voice inside of her up until now had been, well, invisible. But only now had it thought to remind her that she was surrounded by enemies. She was completely alone. Any one of them would throw her away and leave her in the woods to rot. That did not settle well with her, nor did her feeble attempts to insult Amber or Shey. Instead, her gut twisted upside down, her fingers squeezed the rough ends of her horse's hair. A claw scratched her throat up from the inside out, working is way up into the back of her mouth where it pressed and pressed and pressed, begging to be released. Her eyes stung. She felt… bad? She was inexperienced with this emotion, she had only felt it once before. When her father sat her down when she was little and said that he could never be mad at her, no matter what she did. Instead, he said that he was disappointed in her. He didn't want her to grow up into what she had just become. Kira had pushed away anyone who could possibly care for her, and she didn't even care until now. Her lips parted, letting forth and alien sound not very welcome in her system. A choking noise. She felt like she couldn't breathe but she could. Was she crying? In public? No. Kira closed her mouth, her eyes pulsing, swallowed, and shut up. The best thing she could do right now for the people around her.

Amber heard a strange choking noise and looked back. Her eyes locked with Kira's shimmering ones. She gave her a look that said, "Are you alright?"

Kira squinted her eyes confusedly at Amber. She looked down again, peering to see if it would make her vision less blurry with tears.

Amber turned back around and looked to the sky. She could tell this was extremely uncomfortable for Kira. And understandably so, she had been taken away by some random low lives and was riding slowly back home where she would inevitably have to kill them. Amber was nervous but had begun to feel horrible regret for what she had done. Kira wasn't as bad as she seemed. Even if she did hate them.

Don't show weakness. They will bring you down. "H- how long have we been traveling?" Kira didn't really care, but it was better doing math than dealing with whatever emotions were going on inside her. The sun was at its height, so it was about midday, so they might be able to reach the kingdom the next morning at the latest.
"Almost 4 hours since we left our last camp." Amber said. She had been keeping track in her head.
