Wyatt nods as Cornelia answers our questions as best she could.
"Does everyone like her? There must be somebody who would rather rule you would think."
Cornelia shrugs, about to answer Wyatt's question, but realization filled her eyes and she adjusted her posture to a more defensive stance.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I got your names." She murmured, squinting her eyes at us, a faint and sudden hostility emitting from her. I look over at Wyatt with improvised confidence.
"I'm Yuki, we're with Myst, to work on the case of the-" I pause, wondering if she's aware of the situation, and further if the citizens are aware of the situation. My eyes shift around the bar to see if anyone's listening.

Roger
Marina grew slightly uncomfortable, making me wonder if I said something wrong, but I kept silent as she answered.
"Surfing is… relaxing. Makes you feel badass, and you can get all your thoughts out there. It's just you and the waves. But, this is an ocean, so I don't know if I could surf ever again."
I nod, smiling at her recollection of her old life, though left with a slight disappointment in the idea of never being able to surf again. She quickly changes the subject.
"Let's head back, there won't be any people to eliminate in some seaweed forest. While we walk, what do you like to do?"
I chuckle as we stand up and begin walking.
"I dunno, I was kind of a conceited asshole back then. I wanted everyone to love me, so I'd always try to show off. I guess now I just do my own thing. I've been exercising, but I don't talk about it because I feel like it's showing off. I actually want to work with the queen, maybe as a guard, but she doesn't have that sort of system going yet. Hopefully I, or Myst, could change her mind." I pause in my steps.
"That's right, I actually asked you the initial question because I was eliminating you from the suspects, I probably should have told you that earlier."

Myst
"Woah, wait, let me finish this game. I'm about to win." I roll my eyes and shrug at Rai as I wait patiently for him to finish his game; that is, before Rai walks up to the machine and covers it with her hands. Raz panics, trying to push Rai's hands away and control his character at the same time. Big red letters and noises announces his death as Rai chuckles and Raz groans in defeat.
"What do you two need?" I look over at Rai before beginning.
"You're still active in that prankster gang, right?"
Raz sighs heavily, shrugging me off.
"For the last time, it's not a prankster gang, it's an evil organization designed to wreak havoc and destruction on the innocent. I shoot Raz a sarcastic smile with squinted eyes.
"So you are still involved in it, alright, next question; do you think any of those members might have deeper intentions towards the queen?"
Raz exhaled yet another defeated sigh as he looks back and forth between the two of us, debating on whether he should defend his petty-crime gang or just answer the question.
"Everyone there has the maturity of a ten year old, but if you want to talk to them, they'll be in the forest next to the park tonight to prank call the liquor store with a burner phone."

Yuki answered Cornelia, but he started to explain what we were doing. "I'm Yuki, we're with Myst, to work on the case of the-" Alarmed, I kick Yuki, changing the context of his sentence. I was still unsure if we could trust this woman. Not to mention, blue boy here was talking loud enough for everyone to hear.
Think quickly. "To work on getting to know the citizens and type of place this is, as we want to work in the kingdom. I am Wyatt." I said, shouting a bit. Then, I leaned in and whispered to Cornelia. "We're working with Meredith, about the traitors. We don't mean any harm, believe me. Cornelia eyed us suspiciously.

I giggled, running my hands through my hair for the hundredth time. I thought about our similarities, curious to know more. "I'm the same, with the whole conceited asshole bit. Having validation is nice, but trying to change for the better is nicer."
Roger slowed down, going back to the task at hand, sorta. "That's right, I actually asked you the initial question because I was eliminating you from the suspects, I probably should have told you that earlier."
I turned my head to him, grinning. "No worries. Trust no one, right?" I admired his way of thinking, and concluded that he was smarter than he looked.

BBBBBBBBBBBBitch
I listened intently to Raz. This gang doesn't seem like the type to be involved in political matters. From the look of it, Raz's silly gang is exactly what it is - for being silly! I mean, prank calls? Come on, I doubt they have anything against the queen. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try though. Maybe they know something.
I fished a quarter out of my pocket and handed it to Raz. "Thank you for your cooperation, commander," I joke, "May you invade space in peace." Raz thanked me and started up his game again. Gamers are always so… just gamers.
I turned to Myst and we began to leave the arcade. "Is there anyone else you have in mind? Can't really interrogate the rascals until nighttime."

"To work on getting to know the citizens and type of place this is, as we want to work in the kingdom. I am Wyatt." Wyatt finished my sentence after kicking me to bring awareness to the current situation, to which he then leaned in and whispered the truth to Cornelia, "We're working with Meredith, about the traitors. We don't mean any harm, believe me." The body language that Cornelia projected clearly communicated that she was suspicious, so I attempt to comfort her.
"Listen, if you want verification, you can take us to Meredith yourself. You said you're close with her, right?"

Groggy
Upon admitting my intentions to her, Marina merely turned to me with a smile.
"No worries. Trust no one, right?"
Hearing her response and laid back attitude about me, a weight lifted off my shoulders, and comfort with this girl entered my bones.
"Hey, do you think you could strike up a conversation with the next person we pass? I believe their demeanor could reveal if they're hiding something."

Mince
As we leave the arcade, Rai turns to me.
"Is there anyone else you have in mind? Can't really interrogate the rascals until nighttime."
I look up as I search my mind for someone.
"Not any prime suspects that I can think of off the top of my head, but I suppose we could ask Mr. Burdin. He's friends with everyone so he might know something." I lead Rai back into the town square and enter a local diner. As soon as we step foot in the building, I could hear his cheery voice echoing in the room.
"Oh, honey, I do not recommend ordering a coffee and skipping out on the biscuit, the combination is heavenly and I know you'll leave the building a changed person." I turn to Rai, holding back a laugh.

@icecubes

why..att
Cornelia sighed, relaxing her body. "Let's talk somewhere else then, if you truly are helping Meredith. Wouldn't want any of the customers to hear." She waved us to the back of the bar, where the kitchen was. I exchanged a glance with Yuki. Take one last sip of my whiskey, we get up to follow Cornelia.
She leans on a wall away from the small crew of employees. I wait for her to say something about any traitors.

makes me wanna DIE
To be completely honest, I felt a bit lied to. Men were always so secretive and deceiving. But, he had good intentions. It's okay if they have good intentions, right? I stared at my shoes, finally feeling the challenge upon changing.
"Hey, do you think you could strike up a conversation with the next person we pass? I believe their demeanor could reveal if they're hiding something." Roger suggested, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I looked ahead and spotted a man and a what seemed like his son. "Sure thing, Ro." As they got closer, I locked eye contact with the dad. "Hey, sir! I believe we're kind of lost. Think you could give us some directions?"

orangutan lol
Mr. Burdin. That last name must be a burden. Ha. I step into the cute diner, eyes immediately drawn to the obvious salesman standing at a random booth. He grins at our presence, and finishes up with the customers before walking up to us. What a cheery man! I wonder if he has some secret grudge against Meredith. No one is that happy. Or, I'm just looking too deep into everything. Maybe Myst is the traitor. Maybe I'm the traitor! I accidentally gasp.
"Myst! And who is this lady here?" The man says, arms akimbo.
I return the smile and introduce myself. "We actually got some questions for you!"

@AloeVera groupMentallyImInACottage

"I get some pretty angry customers here. Some people are mad at themselves, mad at others, and some people are mad at the queen, however, they don't admit their anger towards the queen until they're blackout drunk. Problem is, they all seem personal. Apart from the modern people being shocked by her still ruling by a monarchy," Cornelia looked down and sighed heavily. "Often times Meredith can rub people the wrong way." Curious, I look over at Wyatt.
"What do you mean?"
Cornelia exhales sharply, reluctant to keep talking.
"She's a perfectionist, so if someone's doing their job a different way than she'd prefer, well…" She raises her hands defensively.
"Don't get me wrong, she has good intentions, she just wants it done right, but she can be a bit controlling in areas that she doesn't need to be."

Rogue?? Idk what's a bad pun
"Hey, sir! I believe we're kind of lost. Think you could give us some directions?" I watch Marina immediately put on a facade, and it makes me wonder. The man smiles back, and I begin reading his body language. I watch his eyes, which shift from me to Marina. He steps in front of his son to get closer to Marina, alerting me.
"Of course, where do you need to go?"
In the few seconds that Marina uses to come up with an answer, I chime in.
"Cornelia's Liquor. I swear we took a wrong turn, but Mary here won't admit it."

i tried to grab fog but i myst
"Myst! And who is this lady here?" Mr. Burdin says excitedly, gesturing to Rai.
Rai introduces herself, adding, "We actually got some questions for you!"
Mr. Burdin tilts his head quickly in a half nod.
"Questions! I love questions, what questions do you have for me?"
I inhale, preparing the first question.
"Have you ever gotten a customer that seemed like…you know." Mr. Burdin's face drops to that of an unfortunate understanding one, but his bubbly demeanor remains as he gestures us away from the crowd.
"Are we creating a team, then?" He says, eyeing Rai. I nod proudly.
"Yeah, we've got others around town accumulating info that we'll be discussing tonight. You wanna come?"
He shrugs and gives me a big smile.
"You know I wouldn't pass up an opportunity for free food from the castle."

I processed what Cornelia said. While knowing more about Meredith was helpful, I felt as if this conversation had run its course. I nodded my head at her. "Thank you. If you meet anyone particularly suspicious, let us know." I turned to Yuki. "Let's go."
We made our way out of the bar. I stuck my hands in my pockets, thinking about another potential area we could head to. "What now?"

"Of course, where do you need to go?"
I opened my mouth to talk, but Roger replied for me. "Cornelia's Liquor. I swear we took a wrong turn, but Mary here won't admit it."
I glared up at Roger. "Oh you little-" I paused, recollecting myself. "Yes, directions would be nice."
The man squINCHED his eyes at me. "Just go straight and turn left at the huge intersection. You'll recognize it."
I smiled, thanking the man. I added, "Can you also tell us a bit about this place, and its government? My boyfriend got us both drowned recently, so we're a bit confused." My mouth was running on its own, and the label 'boyfriend' fell out too naturally. I brushed it off. hoping Roger thought I was keeping up some sort of lie.

rapscallion
"You know I wouldn't pass up an opportunity for free food from the castle."
So, he knows. Mr. Burdin must be trusted to Meredith. Interesting. I, too, love free food.
"Wonderful!" I exclaim. "We need all the information we can get." I move a piece of my hair behind my ear, then turn to Myst. "What time is it right now, Myst? When are we going back for dinner?"

@AloeVera groupMentallyImInACottage

Yanny
"What now?" The question rang in my head as I scan the town square for any other possibilities, until I realized what time it might be, to which I turned to Wyatt and said, "How much time do we have until we have to meet back up?" He didn't realize how much time had actually passed in the bar, and wondered if that was his oblivion to the world or was today just a weird day in general for him.

Robocop
"Can you also tell us a bit about this place, and its government? My boyfriend got us both drowned recently, so we're a bit confused."
I froze, but tried not to react. The man looked at Marina strangely, but complied nevertheless.
"Uh, well, it's run by the queen, her name is Meredith. She's a bit immature for a queen, but what do I know? She's probably older than me." The man gave a chuckle and nodded at us. "Well, we should get going. Good luck you two, hope you do well."

Feminazi
"What time is it right now, Myst? When are we going back for dinner?"
I turn my eyes to look at the clock on Mr. Burdin's wall. My eyes widen as I realize that it was almost 6.
"Oh sh-we should head there now if we want to make it in time." I turned to Mr. Burdin. "Will we get to walk with you or do you have to hold up the fort a bit longer?" Mr. Burdin gives us a disappointed nod.
"Henry's shift starts right at 6, so I'll see you in a few. Be safe out there!" I turn to Rai as we make our way toward the castle.

I looked from my watch to Yuki. "About ten minutes or so. Time to head back, I suppose." The man nodded his head and together we walked back to the the designated meeting spot. I took this time to check out my surroundings, noticing schools of fish occasionally swimming by, and coral reefs littered on every corner. Thousands of blue's and green's and peach's glittered the sea floor. It was rather strange how fast I had grown accustomed to the ocean.

I smiled at the man and his kid, thanking him. When they were out of earshot, I told Roger what I thought, wildly gesticulating. "He seems too nice to care about an immature queen. The man has a kid after all, I doubt he cares about Meredith enough to fight against her." I pursed my lips, then turned my head up to Roger. "What do you think, Ro? You're probably more observant than I am."

We arrive at the castle first. What interesting people there are here! I should visit those places when I'm off the job! I pout. I will have time off right?
Meredith stands in front of the gates, a soft smile appears on her face when she sees us. A glint of nervousness was revealed in her demeanor. I wonder what information the others have.

We walk in silence for a bit, I could tell Wyatt was taking this time to observe his surroundings. I suppose I could too, but I couldn't stand the silence, and had to make some sort of conversation.
"So, how long have you been here? Underwater?" I knew it was small talk, but I was growing desperate. Plus Wyatt could easily enjoy nature whilst answering simple questions such as the cliche ones.

markus but not really
I nod at Marina as she explains what she thinks. "I suppose you're right. Though I've met some messed up people with the most unsuspecting vibes." He watched the man and his kid walk through the park as he snaps out of his gaze.
"We should probably head back to the castle, right?"

merry christmyst
"I'm glad you two are back, you're the first to arrive." Meredith greets us at the door with a gentle smile. I nod and look around, suddenly smelling dinner.
"The others better hurry up, I'm getting hungry." I murmur, looking over to Rai.
"Hopefully they've grown closer as well. Rai, how are you feeling? Got any ideas from what we learned?"

@icecubes

i dont remember! ha! fucking-
Yuki grew restless, but I couldn't tell why. I opened my mouth to ask, but he began to talk. "So, how long have you been here? Underwater?"
Ah, the age old question. I shoved my hands in my pocket, thinking about my answer. "Long enough to lose track of it. Time didn't seem important anymore, so I stopped caring. Do you know?" I remembered seeing Yuki at least once at a bar, but I didn't think twice of him. I wondered what type of person he was.

"I suppose you're right. Though I've met some messed up people with the most unsuspecting vibes." Who was he talking about? Me? I silently chuckled at that idea, but a theory came to me. Maybe he meant himself?
He pulled me out of my thoughts with another comment. "We should probably head back to the castle, right?"
I frowned, feeling unsatisfied with our progress. We had only talked to one person, and the man didn't help much. "Okay," I said reluctantly, then added, "But, on our way back we should talk to one more stranger. The others can wait for us, and if we find out anything it'll be worth it."

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I shook my head. "Not a clue who it could be, but Myst and I will find out. Just give us time!" I said cheerfully. The faster we get this done, the faster I can go back to relaxing. Keep a positive attitude, Rai. I rubbed my stomach, realizing I was hungry as well. "Let's talk more when the others get here, and when we got food in our bellies. You'll eat with us, right, Meredith?"

"Long enough to lose track of it. Time didn't seem important anymore, so I stopped caring. Do you know?"
I shrug my shoulders.
"I guess I could say the same. Every now and then someone would say something that tells me how long it's been. Technology has advanced, the war has ended, but people still aren't people happy. Guess each generation has something to complain about, right?"

"Okay, but, on our way back we should talk to one more stranger. The others can wait for us, and if we find out anything it'll be worth it."
I nod and look over at a girl walking by.
"Excuse me," I begin, tapping her shoulder, "Is there any way for a citizen to speak to the queen? I have some concerns I'd like to address with her and I think she should hear it directly from me."
She shrugs. "I doubt it, but if you catch her on the streets you could try talking to her. Why, what concerns do you have?"

Meredith nods with a sympathetic face.
"Of course I will, I wouldn't just have you dine here and leave you alone, I want some of that delicious food as well." She said with a chuckle.

I tore my eyes off the scenery and looked up at Yuki. "War? Which one?" I inquired, wondering how old Yuki truly was. It had to have been a past war, since the one I died from had still been going on. I felt a tinge of pity, knowing how bad war could get. More and more questions popped into my mind as I thought about the possibilities.

"Taxes," I blurted out. When the girl gave us a suspicious look, I came to the conclusion that this place had no taxes. No, I think I knew that, but it somehow slipped my mind I was dead in another universe or something.
"Um, we don't ha-"
Suddenly, Roger saved us and pulled a 180. "That's what I told her, actually the matter is too difficult for her to understand. She also gets frustrated under pressure…" I was a bit hurt that he made me out to be stupid, but he quickly glances at me and mouths, "sorry" which made me forgive him. He turned back to the girl and added, "What year are you from, if I may ask?"

I continuously glanced out to the city, looking for the others. A good distance away, I saw two tall silhouettes. Those two must be Wyatt and Yuki. But where the hell are the other two? I'm so hungry. I can smell the food. Oh goodie.
"I hope they come fast. Do you know what's for dinner, Meredith?" I asked, stretching my arms.

"War? Which one?"
Wyatt's response made me wonder if he's been in a war, or just interested in world history. For a moment, I didn't want to answer. As if it would reveal something about me that Wyatt could use against me, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it didn't matter.
"Oh, uh, World War Two? I was on a ship, my family was executed, but they took me and a bunch of other kids that were eligible to fight. I don't know if the ship ever made it, though." I stop myself from rambling, the memories of how I drowned rushed into my head and I placed a palm on my forehead.
"We're almost there, right?"

"Uh, I'm from two thousand six, why?"
I wave my hands as if brushing her off.
"Oh, yeah, you won't understand the matters, it'd take too much time to explain and I don't have that kind of time, ya know?" I shoot her a quick smirk and straighten up.
"Anyway, I should get going, thanks for your help, but my sister has an appointment." I put my hand on Marina's shoulder and head toward the castle.

"I hope they come fast. Do you know what's for dinner, Meredith?"
I quickly answer before Meredith can, knowing she won't let me make the joke if I gave her enough time to stop me.
"Seafood."
I could already feel Meredith's glaring eyes as I grin to myself with pride.
"I actually don't know, I asked the chefs to surprise me tonight."

@icecubes

My eyes widened. This kid was old. "World War Two? Shit, that was centuries ago. I died in a war that was still going on; the helicopter I was piloting got shot down in the water. Oh, and the castle is up ahead. You okay?" I noticed Yuki trying the change the conversation, and his hand to his head. I recognized the signs. War was a bitch.

As we walked off, and I turned to Roger, snickering. "Hello brother."
"What? You'll be adopted," he said playfully.
I punched him in the shoulder and picked up the pace. "Did you even get anything from that girl? I don't think we talked to her long enough to know."

I giggled at Myst's joke. Good to know she's got a sense of humor. I love her already. Meredith didn't seem to take it well. Interesting. I turned to Myst. "How did you get this job?

"World War Two? Shit, that was centuries ago." I furrow my brow. Centuries? Did I really lose track of time that heavily? Wyatt continued. "I died in a war that was still going on; the helicopter I was piloting got shot down in the water." Wyatt is a pilot? So, he fought in the war? I wonder if it was worse than what I went through.
"Oh, and the castle is up ahead. You okay?"
I look up at him, the realization that I'd been rubbing my head since he started talking. I nod, allowing the corner of my mouth to twitch upwards.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm-I'm good." We approach the castle and see Myst, Rai, and Meredith coming out to greet us.

I smirk at her question, raising an eyebrow.
"Remember what she said?
'I doubt it' but if you catch her on the streets you could try talking to her. Why, what concerns do you have?'
I've picked up that some people choose their words wisely. She merely shrugged when I asked about the queen. She said she doubts I'll even be able to speak with her, and if I catch her on the streets I could try talking to her."
I pause, proud of my observations, and giving Marina time to think about it, before I finished. "Then she asked what concerns I have. She wanted to know if there was another reason to be against the queen." I exhale after finishing, concluding my answer.
"Even if she isn't in the organization, she might be easily strayed under their influence."

aight notebook lets see if you'll let me post
I tilt my head at Rai's question.
"Meredith didn't have many people she trusted, but her and I sort of became besties, you know? For a while, Meredith was saying she wanted me to be her right hand man, but I refused to believe that I deserved that title. To make up for it, Meredith came to me for advice for pretty much everything before practically tricking me into accepting the job. Now I just do whatever."
Meredith smiles at me, sighing.
"Myst deserves to be queen if you ask me." I scoff and roll my eyes.
"Please, you're just saying that so that I'll behave tonight." Meredith smirks slyly before raising her eyebrows with an innocent smile.
"Oh, look, Wyatt and Yuki are here." She says, opening the door as I follow.

@icecubes

weeeeeewooooooooo money is the anthem of success so before we go out, whats ur address?
I eyed Yuki, skeptical of his answer. Seeing as we were at the castle, I decided to let it go for now. "Alright, man. I'm always listening." I murmured, slapping his back. We made our way up the steps of the castle. Rai greeted us first.
"Yuki, Wyatt! Glad your back! Now we wait for the other two, and then food!" I nodded my head, smiling at the others.
"They seem to be taking a long time. Hope they have good information LOL," The scent of good food was enticing.

I twirled my hair, watching Roger confidently spilling his take on the girl. As he suggested her possibly knowing the organization, I decided to memorize what she looked like for future reference. "I see what you mean. She's a short blonde with a silver necklace. It seems she always wears it, because I saw some green on her neck. Cheap jewelry." I sighed, cringing at her poor skin. "Hopefully we'll be able to identify her later. I do admit, she had a bit of a tone when talking about Meredith."
I pulled out my phone, checking the time, only to fine out we were ten minutes late. "Oh, we should run, Ro. They're all probably waiting for us!"

"We're still waiting for the other two?" I wonder aloud, starting to think Wyatt and I had more time to go to another place, maybe a bakery or some public place like that.
"How long have you been waiting? Could we have taken longer?"
Myst's eyes nearly pop out of her head as she laughs.
"For the love of God, do not take longer, I am starving."
I tilt my head and nod, realizing how late Roger and Marina must be.
"How much longer do you suppose they'll be?"
Mysts shrugs as Meredith sighs heavily.
"Not much longer, we hope."

Marina and I start running towards the castle, causing me to smirk.
"I'll race you." I mutter, picking up speed and passing her. Though I was sprinting, I'd get fatigued quick, but knowing we'll be resting for some time when we get there was reassuring. I look behind me to see how close she is from me.

"For the love of God, do not take longer, I am starving."
I sigh at Yuki, causing him to tilt his head.
"How much longer do you suppose they'll be?"
I shrug my shoulders as Meredith responds to Yuki's question.
"Not much longer, we hope."
My eyes spot two people running in the distance, and I immediately identify them as the two late kids.
"There they are!" I say, waving my hands.

The others conversed amongst themselves, until two kids appeared sweaty and out of breath. "There they are!" Myst exclaimed.
"Finally," I muttered impatiently. I was about ready to leave them.
Marina ushered us to begin dinner, so the party began walking to the dining hall.
After we arrived, Yuki and I took a seat near Meredith. I waited until Meredith spoke to start eating or discussing.

hoollllddddddd you like a hostage
Roger turns back and smirks, "I'll race you." I turn my jog into a sprint, but Roger manages to run past me. I struggle to surpass him, but I am always a couple steps behind him. Track and field paid off.
We shoot up the stairs of the castle and nearly run into the others. I lean my hands on my knees catching my breath. I looked at Roger who was breathing as hard as I. "God, I haven't ran that fast in ages. You're fast." I let out a laugh. "I'll beat you some day, Ro," I straighten my back, addressing the others. "We are so sorry, let's eat. I'm sure you're all starving."
At the gorgeous dining room, I sit across from Roger, next to Yuki. "Nice glasses," I chirp.

I'm so hungry and the food looks absolutely amazing. I am so ready to sit down and eat the entire table. Marina and Roger took way too long. Actually, everyone did.
Immediately I sat down at the large table littered with all types of the food. The scents are all mixed together, and I adore it. I was next to Myst, naturally, and the late party sat next to me. Specifically the dark-skinned kid, who was like, 30 feet taller than me.

"Nice glasses." I turn to the girl, Marina, who sat next to me, as she complimented my glasses, provoking me to reveal a gentle grin and nod my head in response, before returning my attention back to the focus at the table; the dinner and any other discussions about our next move.
"I think we should start with reporting on what we did today. Myst, how about you and Rai start?" Meredith spoke as people began serving the food.

yeET
Marina and I sat furthest from Meredith, being across from each other, as the food was set down in front of us.
"Myst, how about you and Rai start?"
Meredith probably started with Myst because she'd be able to give an example to everyone else on what sort of information to give, but I still spent my time coming up with what to say rather than listening to Myst.

but go off ig
"Well," I began as I looked over to Rai, wondering if she wanted to say anything.
"We started at Raz's house, but he wasn't home. Brent was there, though, but anyway, we went to the arcade next and that's where Raz was. He told us we could talk to his little gang of friends tonight because they'd be making some prank calls. I thought it'd be helpful to see if there's anyone in that organization that might be a bit more intensive than they seem."

I listen intently to Myst and Rai as they report their findings. Rai adds, "Mr. Burdin is also coming; I think he might have information." We turned to Roger to see what they had done, however Marina began to talk. sorry this is short

time to marinate the chicken
I was too distracted by all the delicious foods to pay attention. I figured that by the tone of their voices, it wasn't anything big. No surprise there. When there are a sudden silence, I realized it was our turn. I placed the fork down on the table. Roger opened his mouth to speak, but I beat him to it.
"We talked to a man and his kid. They seemed pretty content, the dad was probably too worried about taking care of his son than to care about a queen. And then, we met a girl," I nodded to Roger, indicating his turn to talk as I picked the fork up again.

Myst reported the whole Raz deal. When she forgot about Mr. Burdin, I jumped in. This is exciting. And the food is absolutely delicious.
"Mr. Burdin is also coming; I think he might have information."
Marina spoke next. What a lovely voice. She's pretty, too. And she can run. And she's tall. Roger must be lucky to work with a girl like that.

"Mr. Burdin is also coming; I think he might have information." Each new voice expressed the information they gathered throughout the day as I listen closely, noting of any important detail that may be able to aid in our investigation.
"We talked to a man and his kid. They seemed pretty content, the dad was probably too worried about taking care of his son than to care about a queen. And then, we met a girl," One of the girls, Marina, uttered, looking over to her partner to finish her sentence. The man, Roger, received the silent indication and inhale before speaking.
"Either she was in a bad mood, or she definitely had some sort of grudge against you. Her words gave the impression that you're not in touch with your people."

Marina looked at me as she waited for me to finish her statement.
"Either she was in a bad mood, or she definitely had some sort of grudge against you. Her words gave the impression that you're not in touch with your people."
Upon noticing Meredith's face soften, I felt bad for what I said.
"I'm sorry, I don't think that about you personally." She shakes her head and raises a reassuring hand.
"It's okay, at least we know one of the reasons."
I look down at the table, feeling a bit awkward for lowering the mood.

bitchass

The sound of a door opening echoed through the room, and the dull energy in around us shifted. Immediately, I knew what had happened; Mr. Burdin just walked in.
"Sorry I'm late! Someone tried to order a black coffee with a burger and I just couldn't bring myself to give them such a disaster of a meal."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head as Mr. Burdin took his seat on the opposite end of the table.
"Now, what did I miss?"
I immediately speak up.
"Roger met a girl that may have some grievances against Meredith."
He shakes his head at the statement and takes a bite out of his food.
"Any complaint would be a silly one, do they expect you to be perfect?"

@icecubes

eat my ass
I glanced away from Roger to a man bursting through the door. I suspected he was the so-called Mr. Burdin. He had a cheerful outlook, laugh lines surrounding his eyes, graying hair, but friendly posture. His tone of voice showed his absolute dedication to the pleasure of his customers. The man sat down at the opposite end of Meredith.
"Any complaint would be a silly one, do they expect you to be perfect?"
I scratched my chin, speaking up. "The thing is, most people turn a blind eye to those they support in government. If someone has a negative opinion from the start, they're bound to know something or someone. Meredith isn't perfect, but if there is some negativity, that means she might not be doing everything to serve the people."

mmmmmmarrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy meeeeeeeeee
Mr. Burdin came in, and I began to listen to the conversation. If he is here, there must be something he needs to say, right? I finished with my plate and set the fork down, leaning in to the table.
Wyatt mentioned the basics of government. I turned to Meredith. "What kind of government are you running here? Monarchy?"

take abreak take me down take me down there
I waved at Mr. Burdin. The overly positive man is back! Hopefully with more than just an appetite for food. He began to discuss matters with everybody. Wyatt was rather brutal, but he brought up a good point. Perhaps Meredith is the problem? I looked back and forth between those who talked. The model girl began to interrogate Meredith.

"The thing is, most people turn a blind eye to those they support in government." Wyatt speaks up in response to Mr. Burdin's remark, leading me to remember what Wyatt uttered about his background, though his words were few and vague, I would not be surprised if he's educated in politics and government, as well as social influence. Wyatt continues, "If someone has a negative opinion from the start, they're bound to know something or someone. Meredith isn't perfect, but if there is some negativity, that means she might not be doing everything to serve the people."
Marina added to Wyatt's statement by inquiring about Meredith's methods of government.
"What kind of government are you running here? Monarchy?"
Meredith nodded, almost shamefully, at Marina as she started to explain herself.
"I understand there is no perfect government…"
Before she continued, I added my question.
"Do you think you are perfectible?"

new cyborg who dis
The question asked by Yuki seemed to catch Meredith, and she almost jumped at the idea.
"That would suggest that I think man is perfectible. I wouldn't want to make such claims, seeing that those against me believe that government is perfectible and thus, so is man." She thought about her words very carefully, and I could tell she was not prepared for such a discussion, despite this whole gathering was about government. Her last statement got me curious.
"What do you believe man is at his core nature?"

hey im grump
Meredith was not ready for such questions, and it showed in her body language. I knew that Mr. Burdin taught her well, but I didn't know everything he taught her. Mr. Burdin is a good man, so I trust that his influence could aid Meredith in leading a kingdom. I also believe that it was smart of Meredith to allow to be educated, instead of being ignorant. That was one of the things I love most about Meredith, is that she welcomes assistance and always agrees that she can improve, never claiming to be perfect and always willing to change for others.

@icecubes

weak? no u
Meredith was no where near fit to lead. She wasn't confident in her words at all, nor was she quick-witted, as a leader should be. I did not have much information, but I was beginning to see why people were against her. A political woman should know about politics and leading a nation. No matter what type of government she has arranged, she clearly cares about the people and should serve them. Roger shoots a philosophical question at her.
"What do you believe man is at his core nature?"
"Man is incapable of being perfect," she repeated.
I leaned into the table, interested at her short approach. I kept a calm voice throughout my words, trying not to seem like I was attacking the poor sulking queen. "Then why, if I may ask, are you attempting to create a perfect society of imperfect men? That simply makes no sense. Perhaps these league of rebels are truly trying to get their opinion of the policy out there. Are you listening to your people, Meredith? Are the people important to you, or just your opinion on policies?"

meeeeeeeee and

only me

Meredith stared at the table, shaking a little. This was clearly a sore topic for her. She tried to talk, her voice slightly strained. "I don't want a perfect society. I just, I just want people to be happy. I'm doing what I can, okay?" Wyatt straightened up, a small grin on his face.
"Meredith," he said softly, "I know. Listen, we all want what's best for you, that's why we're here. But, you have to let us help you in all aspects. Finding the traitors is one thing, and assisting you in leadership to avoid future conflict is another."

silly goose
Everything is getting so heated. Wyatt is way smarter than Meredith, clearly. Oh god, is she crying? This is intense. I nodded my head and shot the poor girl a wide smile. "We're your friends! We're here to assist you in any way possible. Gotta prevent future traitors, right?" I glanced around the room, hoping there was a consensus here. Helping Meredith should be worth my time.
