Sparrow smiled and nodded. (I dont remember if they came togather or separate lol)
Nathan motioned for her to be quiet before gesturing outside the room. Once they were outside, Nathan ran a hand through his hair and looked at her. "I can't sit there and watch videos, I'm going to check some of the other rooms, including a couple hidden stairways to look for clues." He explained
(They came separately, I think)
Cyrus let out a sigh of relief and dug his keys out of his pocket. "See you there, love."
"I… I'll come with you, okay?" Vida insisted, "I really don't want you to go alone…"
Katya popped her head out after Vida. She was pretty quiet as she asked, "Can I come with you guys?"
Nathan nodded and offered her his hand. He sighed and nodded at Katya's question before facing the hallway and pointing the flashlights at a door.
Sparrow backed out of the driveway and looked at Cyrus. "I'll meet you there ok?" She asked. Without waiting for an answer, she faced forward and raced down the street.
Esmae walked down the hall, wondering what this thing she is fighting going to be. Honestly, even though she's been here a few days, she knows nothing about what's going on. Maybe they even changed animals and are going to put her against some weird creature they created. She was so lost in thought that she almost ran into a wall, thank goodness she caught it before she did.
About now Caleb was getting frustrated. Just how many damn videos do they have? He leaned back in his chair with a sigh. He turned around and saw that the others have gone. (I assume. I'm a bit behind, but that's what sounded like happened. If not I can update this part.) In a moment of panic he jumped up and ran out the door. Was I really so out of it that is didn't realize they left? He knew they were capable of taking care of themselves, but on the off chance something happened, Caleb wasn't sure if he could live with himself if something happened to them when he could have stopped it. "Vida, Nathan, Katya!" He whispered yelled. If someone was around he didn't want to alert them, he didn't want them to know they were here.
Uriah stood and smiled. "Yes, maybe relaxing a bit will help." Overthinking things will only make things worse. He walked over to Luna and wrapped his arms around her. He was thankful for this girl, without her he would've gone crazy a long time ago. "Should we met up tomorrow?"
"Probably," Luna leaned against Uriah snuggling up against him. She let out a sigh as she looked up at Uriah, "I'm worried about the kids. W-we shouldn't have left them to their own d-devices."
Katya looked over to where Caleb was and signalled him over. She kept up with the others.
Cyrus climbed in the driver's seat and followed Sparrow down the road. His fingers tapped restlessly on the steering wheel.
God, I was about to ask her… I was so close… I was building up the courage…
Vida took Nathan's hand and followed him closely. Her legs trembled slightly as she stepped forwards, but she had to go with him. There was no way she was going to let this boy, who was practically her brother, go alone, even if she wasn't exactly the best protector.
When Caleb heard Katya's voice, his tensed body relaxed. He walked over to them, still a bit upset that they didn't say anything. "You guys should have told me you were wandering off. All your parents would kill me twice if they knew something happened to you guys and I wasn't around to stop it." Especially Uriah, for some reason the didn't like him, which sucked since he wants to be with Esmae. "Anyway, have you found anything?"
(I have a very evil plan that may create so much angst but I need it to happen for character development, muahahahaha)
Nathan squeezed Vida's hand, happy to have a physical assurance that he wasnt alone. He walked with her into a room and saw that a bunch of boxes had been opened, files and papers were scattered across the fairly large room. Nathan clenched his teeth when he realized what information those files held, Notes and descriptions about what had happened to all of them when they were first found by the White Wings. Nathan let go of Vida's hand as the memories from his 6 year old self started replaying through his mind.
Sparrow stopped her bike and got off, leaving Mali to guard the bike as she took off her jacket, shoes and socks, running to the lake and jumping into to the cool water. She stayed under the water longer than average time before coming back up to breath.
The doctors led Esmae to the chair. "This is a simple medicine that will help us monitor your inner health while you fight." They explained as one of them lifted a syringe filled with a light green liquid. "The room will change to test your limits so you can be on a cliff one second then be falling from the sky the next."
Thalia was upstairs in the observation room as the monitors came to life. The scenario was already set for her, a simple desert with very minimum tools and things. This room was to test how well she could last with minimal tools at her disposal.
Cyrus drove up to the lakeside and stepped out of the car. He walked up to the shore and took his shoes off so he could wade in the water. He watched Sparrow closely and found that his heart pounding. Should he go ahead and say something once she came back ashore.
Vida frowned. She saw some of the papers' contents. She'd come a long way since then, and she was proud, but it wasn't something she liked to think about. It reminded her too much of where she'd come from and what she'd lost.
Sparrow came up again and saw that Cyrus had come. She sawn towards him and crawled ashore, wringing out her hair and sighing.
Nathan looked closer and saw that an odd bundle of papers, held closely by some strong clips, was laying to the side. It looked as though someone had been here, taking notes.
Katya shrugged to Caleb and followed the other two in. She was careful as she saw the papers and left almost immediately after. She didn't want to deal with all of… That right now. She had enough on her plate. Holding herself she made her way through the dark trying to find her way out of the building.
"Hey, beautiful," Cyrus said, casting a smile at her.
He had his hand against his side, feeling his pocket to make sure he had the box.
Vida sat on the floor, gathering up some of the papers.
"What did you find?" she asked.
Sparrow smiled at him and leaned back, using her arms for support. "Its been a while since we've had an us day." She laughed lightly
Magnus picked up the wad and started flipping through it, frowning suddenly. "Hey guys, what's a Dark Gemini corporation?" He asked, confused.
"Yeah… it really has. We could both use more of it, I think. Sure, we have the kids to look after, but they're old enough to…" Cyrus slowed down a little bit. He didn't want to suggest leaving them alone, since right now, it just prompted so much fear.
Cyrus reached out for Sparrow's hand, offering to help her stand up again.
"Sounds weird," Vida said, "Almost like one of those strange guild names. You don't think an old enemy has tracked us down, do you? N-no… we've never even heard of them before…"
(Oops,guess I missed that lol)
Sparrow took his hand and stood up, the warm air helping to dry her clothes up a little. "This whole Esmae business is driving me insane, trying to figure out what could have happened. I dint feel good about letting the kids go off but right now, I think them being separated from us is good." She sighed. Sparrow closed her eyes for a moment, allowing the sound of the water and the wind in the trees to calm her nerves.
"Hey Vida, don't Sparrow and Cyrus know someone that works there?" Nathan asked, forehead creased in concentration.
"Not sure. I've never heard of such a place." Caleb also sat on the ground and started to read though papers. There were many subtle hints to this Dark Gemini place, but nothing that gave any useful information. "I found many little things about it, but nothing that could really help." Caleb was stumped and tried. He was so happy the past few years, thinking something like this would never happen again. He was being naive, when growing up in a guild, there will always be something.
Esmae badly wanted to fight them, she didn't trust this stuff and she definitely didn't want it inside of her. But it was useless. Nikona walked through the door and stood next to Thalia. "I'm a bit late, I apologize. How is she?" Her eyes were glued onto Esmae, watching ever bit of movement she made. The needle didn't hurt as the stuck it in her arm. Slowly she watched the mysterious green liquid flow into her body. After that the two man on each side lifted her up and put her on a black mat. "Okay…" they then started to hook wires up to her. "You'll start to feel a bit dizzy." Was all the man said as he walked away. She could easily walk off the mat, but her mind was telling her not to.
Uriah sat back down and rested his face in his hands. This stress wasn't good for him, it made his leg ache even more. "Well, at least we'll have some alone time." Although that sounded amazing, he couldn't just put Esmae on the back burner. It was cruel of him to do that. "Luna, what are we going to do?"
Thalia looked at the screen as a mist formed in the scenario. "Well they administered the drug and her consciousness is slowly forming in the virtual environment. The chip that we put in her will record her actions and reactions. Right now we are waiting a whole before we introduce the opponent so we can see what she does beforehand." She explained
"Yeah… perhaps," Cyrus murmured.
He reached his hand into his pocket and wrapped his fingers around the little jewelry box, rubbing the soft exterior with his thumb.
"Look, I know this is a terrible time, but I've been struggling with whether or not to just do it. Last time I did this, well… things didn't end great for us, and I don't want that again, so here goes…"
Cyrus got on one knee and whipped out the ring box.
"Sparrow, I love you with all of my heart, and I want to dedicate my life to you. We've been through more highs and lows together than I can count, and I want to be there for you through all of that, forever. Will you marry me?"
His hands were trembling, just slightly, as he flipped open the black box and revealed a slim, silver ring with a dark blue gem on top.
"Wait, do you mean that weird neighbor lady?" Vida asked, "I don't know if she works there. I don't think I've heard of the place, but I think they've said something about her working at a corporation of sorts."
Katya was still wandering around in the dark. She realized that leaving the group had been a bad idea, but at this point, she didn't know the path back. Biting back tears she continued to walk through the empty building trying to find the exit or her friends.
"I, I don't know," Luna sighed as her hand threaded through her bangs. She stood behind Uriah and wrapped her arms around him once she had done that, "Maybe we should follow C-Cyrus's advice. Take the night off from the s-search and just rest."
Uriah hummed and let out a breath. "Yes, you're right." He smiled. Standing he turned to Luna and easily picked her up off her feet and just held her. A night to themselves didn't sound bad. In fact the only night they ever had to themselves was their wedding night, so maybe this will be hood for them, thinking that though made Uriah feel guilty, almost as if he was abandoning Esmae.
Slowly Esmae's eyes started to roll back into her head. Her balance was off and she fell to her knees. Retching to her shoulder, she touched the spot where she was poked. "What is this stuff? What.. did… you.. do.. to.. me.." Her body fell to the ground. A warm breeze hit her face, but it hurt almost as if… opening her eyes, she looked around. "Where am I?" Her eyes widened when she realized she was in the middle of no where. "What the fuck!" She screamed hoping that they could hear her somehow. She stood and looked around. No wonder it hurt when she was laying down, sand was hitting her face. Kicking the ground, Esmae was confused on what the hell she was supposed to be doing. She saw a cave to the left, and maybe a few dead trees, but other then that not much. And of course she was wearing the same outfit, so she had no weapons on her. "Damn it."
Luna let out a slight laugh and a smile finally natural. She wrapped her arms around him. She could tell Uriah felt guilty and she leaned in and kissed his cheek, "It's one night. Tomorrow we'll be right back at it amor. Promeso."
Sparrow put a hand to her face. The built up frustration from the whole day combined with the emotions she was feeling as she stared down at Cyrus' face, tears started rolling down her face. "Cyrus I —" She wiped her cheeks and nodded. "Yes, a million times yes!" She said, grabbing his hands.
Cyrus smiled and carefully slipped the ring on her finger. He tried to get up to embrace her, but his knee locked up a bit.
"Um… I'm going to need your help up," he said softly, chuckling.
"God, I'm so happy… I'm so, so happy… I can't even start…"
