It was a pretty boring afternoon for River, he woke up at 3am and never went back to sleep, so he’s emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. That was a call for coffee, and there was only one place in town that he would trust his coffee needs to.
He walked in with AC/DC blasting through his earphones, but he clearly didn’t care. River’s hair look quite the mess, but also, he didn’t care. He walked up to the barista and asked for a black coffee.

Cecil had an off day. It was the first in months, so it was quite the relief for him (and for little Destiny's sitter). He decided that a day out with his son would be a good way to unwind, but a day in the park would be uneventful and he loved the quiet hubbub of the cafe, and he could finish some paperwork while there. Cecil locked his son snugly into the grey-blue star patterned papoose he'd been given by his landlady (Mrs. Ross was a sweet old woman, and Cecil considered her more of a friend now.) and rubbed his hand around in circles on his child's back when he stirred.

He didn't live more than two blocks away, so he decided to walk. He never trusted himself in the car with his son, so many things could go wrong and he didn't want to lose his only child, his northernmost star. Besides, he'd been sitting in a cramped office for the past two days, a little exercise would be welcome.

Cecil stepped into the cool, crisp autumn air and checked to see if Destiny was comfortable for the ninth time. Even though it was still pretty warm, he'd never forgive himself if his son caught cold. Destiny was still sleeping, peaceful, and seemed content as a clam. Cecil walked at a steady pace, careful not to jostle his son, and soon reached the cafe. It was pretty empty, and that was good for working, so he walked in and went to order a drink.

Mikhail walked through the busy streets with his earbuds plugged in and blasting music to drown out everything else, since music was the only thing that has been with him all the time when he had almost no one by his side. He glanced around the streets and at everyone, it was still pretty early in the morning and he needed coffee to wake up. He had been to all of the coffee places here except for one which was usually empty and had the best coffee, just the way he liked it.

River took his coffee and proceeded to listen to AC/DC rather loudly, and without even noticing he started humming along, seconds later he started singing.
“I’m on a highway to hell..” And he started imitating a guitar, without caring what other people were thinking.

Alex sighed as he walked down the street, headed for the nearby coffee shop. Good God, he was tired. He had stayed up late working on things, and then had been awoken far too early by his phone going off. As a result, hardly any sleep had been gained. Sadly. But a coffee would be just the pick-me-up he needed. Preferably one high in sugar and caffeine, that would keep him going all day long.

(Do they all already know each other?)
Finn made a black coffee and set it on the counter calling out the name written on it. He turned back around to make the next. He’d been working for about an hour now and downed about three cups himself this morning.

As usual, Sarah sat in the corner sipping her tea and reading through the endless incoming emails. She looked up from the screen, blinking as her eyes adjusted to the warm light of the coffee shop. Tapping her fingers on the table thoughtfully, she down her drink and left to get another.

(Actually can Cecil already know at least one of these guys and be friends with them cuz there's no way in hell he's gonna attempt social interaction without a buddy dragging him along tbh.)

Cecil approached the counter with caution, one hand placed against his son's tiny body and the other fishing for his wallet. "Uh, um, one black coffee, please. And a chocolate muffin?" he asked the barista.

Finn was now at the register. ”what size?” he asks his hand going to the cups.

"Ah, medium, please." he mumbled to the barista, rocking on his heels a bit impatiently. He wanted to sit down soon, and hopefully get the chance to enjoy the day.

Alex came in. He smiled when he spotted Cecil, and got in line. He'd say hello in a minute, after he got his coffee. He had dark smudges under his eyes from staying up so late and getting up so early. The smudges, he knew, wouldn't go away anytime soon, but the coffee would help make sure he didn't pass out during the day.

"Alex! Hello!" Cecil turned around when he saw his friend come in. "You look absolutely horrible!" one would wonder why this was said in such a relaxed way.

Alex smiled. "Hey, Cecil!" He greeted. "Thanks." He said dryly, yawning and stretching slightly. "I didn't get enough sleep last night. Figured coffee would be a good picker upper." He shrugged. "Nice to see you."

"You too. I'm on a break today and I decided to take Destiny out for some father-son bonding time. I couldn't get paternal leave, and it's been…. rough, but manageable." he looked down. He had barely slept for the entire two weeks since he'd adopted his son, and it didn't show much since he was used to little sleep, but Cecil did seem very downcast.

He nodded. He studied Cecil for a long moment. "You feeling okay?" He asked. "I mean…you look okay, but you seem upset. Is something wrong?" He questioned, looking at Cecil worriedly.

"Just feeling a little out of it. Wanna sit down?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

”be right up, ” Finn had said writing something on the cup and placing it to the side. He looks at the next customer.

Sarah swerved around the guys talking by the counter. “Hey could I get a refill on this?” She asked the barista.

(let's pretend Cecil paid because I momentarily forgot how cafes work)
”Of course what was it?” he asked taking the cup.

“Uh…London fog I think. Sorry, I have terrible memory.” She shrugged.
