Four years ago, the earth’s core had collapsed within itself, causing the heat to rise from the center and burn everything at the surface. Plants could no longer survive, along with animals and many humans as well. Those who did survive were either hunting or hunted.
You see, it’s human nature to make excuses as to why things happen. Blame is put on any being. This is what pitted each and every person against each other. As of now, there are two main sides: the Enhanced and the Hunted.
The Enhanced are basically cyborgs, in the most literal sense possible. Just people with many robotic parts and abilities embedded within them. The Hunted are exactly what they sound like— the Enhanced’s prey.
In this post-apocalyptic world, nowhere is safe. It’s chase or be chased, kill or be killed. It’s only a matter of which happens first.

Hello and welcome to another roleplay :D
How bout some rules?

First, all of andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)’s rules (of course)
Have fun! Although the storyline may seem serious, mess around! Twist it! It’s your story, too.
Cursing is ok, just please omit insulting another writer.
Please be active. I know sometimes it’s difficult, and I’ll allow absences, but I want to have a successful roleplay.
Romance is ok, just please omit from writing R-rated content.
Please make your character something other than a shy, dark, stand-offish emo person. I mean, your character can be sad, sure, but I want something that my character can actually build off of. So if your character is someone that never wants to socialize with anyone and just wants to be alone, maybe this isn’t the rp for them. (Thank you for abiding by this and I’m really sorry if it seems harsh. If you want to use a character along these lines, then we can probably work something out, don’t worry).
Lastly, don’t take this too seriously. I’m just here to mess around, honestly :D

My character:

Name: Taiga Harrison
Nickname(s): Tiger ; Ty
Age: 18
Gender: Male h/h
Sexuality: Straight
Physical Appearance: Dirty blonde hair that’s always falling into his dark brown eyes. His skin is scarred and scorched in many places, and dirt covers the majority of his clothes and body. He’s skinnier than considered muscular, and his torn clothing hangs loosely off his limbs.
Personality: Light-hearted and sarcastic. He really likes people and feels comfortable in a crowd. He hates hurting people, but will totally assume that “big brother” sort of protective behavior if needed.
Side (Hunted or Enhanced): Enhanced! Half of his rib cage (left side) is completely replaced by mechanical parts. This helps him breathe easily despite the lack of oxygen now on Earth. In addition, his left eye and the area around it are completely robotic. This helps him see further and through the dust of the barren planet.
Backstory (optional): (Imma flesh out his backstory as we go)
Other (optional): He really hates being one of the Enhanced because of the fact that he has to hunt down survivors. This gets him in trouble a lot with the head of his Side, and he spends most of his time in “quarantine,” aka a prison cell.
Open to romance?: Yep

(Kk. I wasn't sure how long you wanted it to be, so I just picked a short one.)

It was dark in Elijah's study, only a small desk lamp illuminated the room. It was practically silent except for a quiet tune coming from his phonograph, one that was passed down to him by his father. He was nose deep in a book, cramming for an upcoming exam he needed to take. He loved listening to rain as it pattered down on the window of the room. It never usually disturbed him, but tonight, it seemed off. He heard a thud that he just couldn't dismiss as thunder.

He walked over to his window and peeked through the curtains. He saw a glow, golden and radiant. He couldn't help but stare. It slightly shined on what he could make out to be a face. The face of an unconscious person at that. Elijah couldn't bear seeing someone in need of help and doing nothing about it, so he ran downstairs and rushed out the doors that lead to his backyard.

As he crept closer to the light, he noticed that there appeared to be a body attached to that face. A sigh of relief escaped his mouth. Once he reached the unfamiliar figure, he observed it carefully. From his judgment, it was not human. but he saw no time to contemplate that then and there. He lifted up the unconscious person and made way back into his house, stopping at the sofa of his living room and laying them down there.

Name: Olivia Eisenhower
Nickname(s): Olive, Vi
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Physical Appearance: She has short, wavy orange hair that reaches down to her shoulders. The cut is a bit uneven seeing that she cut it to escape from an Enhanced enemy. She has scars on her legs, mid-section, and one across her nose from fighting with both Enhanced and Hunted enemies. She has small patches of dirt on her arms and legs since hygiene isn't quite the first thing she has time to worry about. Her eyes are a, practically glowing, green, their colour similar to that of an aloe vera plant. Around her large eyes are dark circles from a lack of sleep. Her lips are chapped and a pallid pink colour. She is quite muscular from lifting dead bodies and other heavy objects, as well as running from enemies.
Personality: This battle has turned her quite rough and her trust issues shot way up. She not willing to take none sense from anyone and will almost never hesitate in ripping her enemies' throats out. She will fight for what she sees right and will protect what she needs to.
Side (Hunted or Enhanced): Hunted
Backstory (optional): She has an extreme case of survivor's guilt from when she was 14-years-old and Earth's core collapsed. Most of her family did not survive and those who did were hunted by the Enhanced or other survivors. (Imma make up the rest as I go)
Other (optional): ~
Open to romance?: Of course

(So sorry for the massive delay— I had a busy day yesterday. Here we go!)

Taiga blinked his eyes open, feeling like he hadn’t slept in years.
Reality is, that’s kinda it.
The past few years, he’d been awake and running through hell. Every safe place— collapsed. Every water source— intoxicated. Every person— well, let’s just say, no one’s considered “human” anymore.
But right now… he was someplace different. Looked almost like a… prison?
Again, really, Ty thought to himself. A single human I helped out, and they lock me up again.
Thing is, Taiga was an Enhanced. That means his job was to hunt.
He really didn’t like it.
That’s why, about a week ago, he had helped out a Hunted. He helped them escape from the Enhanced’s Sanctum— where, apparently, he was being held now.
Locked up, yet again.
Would they have him fight this time? Maybe. That’s what he had to do last time this happened. It’s true punishment, at least for the sweet-natured Ty.
He sat up, his hands scraping on the scorching stone floor. Voices filled his ears, however everything was dark in his cell.
It was due time they came and got him. He was finally fed up with whatever they had planned.

Olivia sat against a tree, dog tired. She hadn’t slept for days and had been running for weeks. The two-sided battle of the Hunted and the Enhanced was a losing battle from the start, but she didn’t stop fighting. So long as heart heart beat and she had no metal in her body, she was going to keep fighting. Fighting as she had been for four long years.

Through those four years she had had many mentors that taught her everything she knew. How to fight, how to hunt, how to kill, how to build small lean-tos, and start fires. She had grown with them, but now she must leave without them, for the weight of three shouldn’t be carried on the back of one. So she left them all to die. Every last one.

She reminisced about the good memories before the battle. Before the collapse of the Earth’s core. She was much happier then, she couldn’t help back ask “why is the world this way?”

She looked up at the large build not too far from her. The Enhanced’s Sanctum. As she was positioned at that moment, she was in quite dangerous territory. She muttered to herself. “One wrong move and I’m there with the rest of those losers.”

Her legs straightened out beneath her and she made way toward the building, her hopes of freeing any prisoners were low, but still there. She fumbled her fingers around the straps of a backpack that she carried.

Taiga’s body began to shake involuntarily, as the entirety of his cell rose up from underground. The voices from below became distant as loud yells resonated in their place.
Taiga’s stomach sank instantly and he could feel his heart beating faster and faster, as harsh sunlight peeked through his bars. His cell was now fully above-ground.
His bars opened themselves as shrill screams echoed.
The heart of the Sanctum was the arena. A large, gladiator-like type of field. The Enhanced often took Hunted’s there to fight one another, making bets and whatnot. Taiga had always been against it— despised it, even. He was especially worried for what they had for him today.
He pushed himself to his feet, blood seeping from his mouth and his blonde hair matted together. He limped forward, his mechanical parts clinking together.
The sun was ruthless, shining down on the singed ground. Ty squinted across, seeing a hulking opposing frame.
Ty’s eyes grew wide as the figure stomped its foot, a giant robotic arm then reaching from its shoulder. The crowd roared in delight.
There’s absolutely no way he could take this guy. It was either escape or die, not fight head on. It may be just his logic, wanting to avoid conflict, or the actual answer— yet he was going to follow it either way.

(I kept searching for this in the Limited section XD)

As she approached the sanctum, Vi heard cheering, almost like something you'ds hear at a sporting event. Her curiosity peaked. She bent her legs and lifted her heels off of the ground to take longer, quieter strides.

She observed the entrance gates. The Enhanced's Sanctum appeared to have heavy perimeter guard, but she knew that if another one of those battles that she heard of were going on, the inside guard wouldn't be nearly as heavy. They'd probably all be in one place and relying on the outside guard to keep people away in the first place. Case in point, if she got past them, there would be no worries from there.

She smirked and whipped out an electronic blue dagger, something she picked up off of a dead Enhanced. She walked toward the sanctum with a confident bounce and spinning the blade between her fingers. "Let's roll."

@PaperHats business

(You're good XD Don't worry)

Taiga rolled away from a reckless swinging blade as it crashed into the ground in his previous position. He was breathless and tired and the dust stung his eyes.
Still, this was no place to die.
He coughed, a wire missing from his eye. He tried to push himself to his feet but his body was absolutely exhausted.
The hulking figure looked down, hoisting the massive blade up on his shoulder. Ty could only make out the faint outline of the man with the sun shining brutally behind him.
"Traitor," the man yelled. The crowd grew silent, a few chatters here and there. Taiga got to his knees as the man kept talking.
"You deserve to be killed," the man murmured, slinging his blade down and dragging it across the ground. Dust kicked from it, seeping into Ty's lungs.
As the man slashed down again, Ty mustered up the last of his energy and strength to rip off a panel from his rib, blocking the shot. His wires were now all clearly exposed, but with the force he was applying, the man couldn't cut them unless he rapidly changed his attack.
The crowd hollered and screamed, demanding Ty be killed. Taiga's vision went blurry, but he shook his head as they stood there, both at a draw. Both putting in their all.
It was only a matter of who had enough endurance.

She ducked into the bushes and waited quietly, some guards made rounds around the building while two constantly stood watch at the door. She just had to wait for that moment, that moment when those to guards were alone. She knew she could take them on that way, seeing that they were pretty scrawny dudes.

Soon ten guards went to make the rounds. Five on the left side, five on the right, leaving two at the front. She rushed forward toward the guards, kicking one and stabbing the other. Spark flew as she sliced through one of the guard's wires, its body falling to the ground. Just as she had finished securing the kill, the other one tackled her, trying to press its arm blade into her chest. The struggle for power was on, a machine versus flesh, it wasn't quite looking very much so in her favor.

She whispered prayers to a God that she quite frankly didn't believe in. But whatever worked, worked, so she kept praying. And to her surprise, she heard a crackling noise followed by the sight of smoke. The arm had malfunctioned, giving her a prime opportunity to fight back. She lifted her legs and kicked the Enhanced unit hard in its ribs, one place that wasn't metal. She swiftly used the change in tide to her advantage and stabbed into the left side of the ribs three times, only striking the heart the last two times.

She watched it close its eyes, she truly felt sorry for the thing, but she didn't have time to mourn any deaths. She had a battle to see. The first one she was ever going to see.

With a quick burst of strength, Ty threw himself at the man. He sword fell back and he was slightly unbalanced. Ty shoved the panel again, knocking the man to the ground. Boo’s echoed throughout the arena.
Instead of attacking with his advantage, Ty stayed standing, staggering in just the slightest. His lungs burned and his eyes stung. His body looked absolutely terrible, and vaguely human. More like an undead.
He took the panel and used it as a shield, hiding behind it like the coward he thought he was.
The man shoved himself to a stand, taking no time before slashing yet again. Ty dodged, rolling on his panel.
His heart raced even faster than before. Sure, he had a shield, but he was now the most vulnerable. His wires were completely and utterly exposed.
Some of them were already cut, causing his body to steam and his breathing to become more labored. He coughed, his panels sparking and his mechanical eye flashing red.

@Nie-Huaisang-is-lost-in-the-stars group

Vi snuck into the building and listened for the direction of the cheering. Northwest. She turned and made way toward the area in a quick jog, deciding to use a vent as a stealthy detour.

She removed the front panel and crawled in, pulling the panel back into place behind her. It was quite dusty and cramped in the vent, and it stung quite a bit, but she pushed on forward. Her exposed and sweaty legs stuck and dragged against the metal of the vent, causing small squeaks to escape.

She soon arrived at the end of the vent and punched out the panel with one calloused fist. She flopped on her stomach and watched the fight. To her, it seemed like a David vs. Goliath situation. She watched, excitement coursing through her veins. She didn't know who to cheer for, she was just on the edge of her seat, so to speak.

@PaperHats business

Over the roars of the crowd, Ty couldn’t even hear himself think. His head was hurting— well, as was everything else. He was knocked to the ground once again, and this time the man didn’t hesitate. He smacked down his sword, ripping out most of Taiga’s wires. The boy’s body steamed and electricity darted up his entire chest. His eye was fully unfunctional now, so he could only see from one as he skittered to the side. Though the man kicked out a foot, forcing him to the ground yet again.
“This Enhanced,” the man yelled. “Helped a Hunted. He is a traitor. I will kill him! For Enhanced!”
The crowd shouted, “For Enhanced!”
“Please,” Taiga coughed, blood spurting from his mouth. “P-please, sir.”
“Stop pleading, coward,” he growled.
“Then don’t kill me!” the boy yelled, though his voice was raspy and rash, partly because of the dust.
“Sorry, but that’s not an option.”
The man swung down as Taiga deflected it with the panel. But the man was relentless. Swing after swing after swing— Ty couldn’t keep it up.
A blade was gonna be the last thing he ever saw.

@Nie-Huaisang-is-lost-in-the-stars group

Olivia's green eyes widened at three particular words.

"Helped a Hunted"

With that, she couldn't leave Taiga to die. He could be a potential ally to her in the future. She clicked her tongue in bothe irritation and determination. Goliath was defeated in the legend and he was going to be defeated today too. Just with a little help.

She sprang out of the vent and leaped into the larger man's chest, clinging on. Adrenaline was coursing so rapidly through her veins that she couldn't bring herself to fear anything. She stabbed at his large beady eyes, yelling like a madwoman. As the large Enhanced bucked around, screaming in agony, the crowd roared with outrage. Olive looked back at Ty and yelled: "What the hell are you waiting for, ya bot?! Get out of here!"

The massive Enhanced unit threw Vi off of his chest, causing her to scratch her face on the dust. She stood right back up, a dusty streak of blood across her left cheek and a grin on her face. She was an agile thing and was relentless in her battle. Rushing right back to him, but this time, sliding between his legs and put a deep gash into his ankle. The Enhanced fell, a roar of bloody agony released from his throat.

@PaperHats business

In a burst of newfound hope, Taiga flung himself at the man, bashing his head in with the panel. He didn’t have time to put it on, so he just flung it into the man’s chest. He continued to run, grabbing the arm of the mysterious new woman and bolting. Every muscle in his body hurt and every joint buckled in on itself. He found it hard to keep his focus, but seeing briefly the vent in which the girl had crawled out of— knew best that that was his target. Just before the man could regain himself, Taiga slid into the vent, dragging Olivia with him. He crawled hastily through it, checking back to see if she was following. He soon dropped, falling through to the scorching ground.
Taiga coughed violently, his body looking like a sauna. The amount of steam leaving his body could probably run an engine— well, all except his own. His wires were mauled and tattered, so it physically hurt him to breath. His eye looked far beyond repair, but yet he blinked it open, looking up to see if the girl had dropped down with him.

@Nie-Huaisang-is-lost-in-the-stars group

Olive was a bit upset at being suddenly dragged from the fight. Her eyebrows furrowed with ha mix of anger and disappointment. She could've been back there dealing the final blow, stabbing into that Enhanced like there was tomorrow, but instead, she found herself being dragged off by this… dysfunctional enhanced. She spoke flatly and obvious irritation seeped from her gruff voice.

"Hey," she said, "I was going to finish off that big lugger. What's your deal?" She dropped down after him and bent her knees in a landing position. She brushed off her dusty and tattered pant legs and pouted. This was the first time in four years that she had been truly excited about something. She figured that's what Enhanced people were talking about when they said "thrill of the hunt". Too bad they were dead now, so she couldn't ask them.

She looked up at the bionic boy, watching steam release from his body. She placed one hand on her hip and adjusted her stance, her head tilting to the side ever-so-slightly.

@PaperHats business

Taiga tried to reply but was sent into another fit of coughing. Finally composing himself, he got to his feet, staggering over and gaining back his balance on the wall.
“S-sorry,” he stuttered, trying to focus his eyes on the girl, but everything was too blurry. “I-I didn’t know you wanted t-to.”
Every word he said sounded like he was out of breath and he clutched his ribs tightly.
“We should leave,” he muttered. “This isn’t a p-place to discuss.”
Ty looked back over for a brief second. “Unless… you want to actually go back and f-fight that guy.”
A couple sparks flew from the boy’s chest onto the ground below, but thankfully there wasn’t enough vegetation to actually start any fires. Even as electricity coiled up around him.
He took a deep, labored breath as he glanced from the door to the vent.
“So are you c-coming with me,” he began, “or are you fighting?”

@Nie-Huaisang-is-lost-in-the-stars group

Olivia sighed deeply. She knew this kid was going to get far on his own. She shook her head gently, closing her glistening eyes as she did so. Her foot tapped against the floor.

I suppose Goliath will have to fall later, she thought.

"We can leave," she exhaled, "you're not safe alone. And besides, I have use for you." She smirked and dragged in off by the arm, making urgent conversation along the way. Not a singular breath seemed like a joke, despite that confident smirk that she wore.

"You still got that panel?" she asked, stopped with him next to the front doors. She examined his wires carefully. Wincing slightly as sparks flew into her face. They each lift barely noticeable burn marks that blended in with freckles on her face. She hadn't really dealt with reinstalling panels, but she figured that it couldn't be that hard. Just put it where it goes, right?
