(I borrowed this from an old rp that died ages ago lol)
Magic has become a reoccurring thing in cities all around the world. However, most do not have abilities and shun magic users into impoverished slums. The story would be about two different children: the child of a high ranking magic hating official who secretly has powers, and the other having grown up in the slum their entire life.
When their worlds collide, what will become of the two?
RULES
- General rules do apply
- Cursing to a minimum but is totally allowed
- Before y'all ask: LGBT+ is allowed
- I'd prefer if we kept one liners to a minimum and if you are experienced in decent description with responses.
- If you want it can be a romance? Idk
(I'd prefer to have my character be the one raised in the slum, but whatever works.)

She uses her phone to type and ASL if the person knows it. For emergencies, she’ll use a notepad and pencil she has on her at all times.
Magic Specialty: Elemental Manipulation- When she’s surrounded by an element, she can manipulate it to a certain extent. If used for too long, her vision starts to blur and she can go blind for up to 30 minutes. Her power will only work proportionate to the amount of the element that is around her.
Thanks! Would you like to start?//
Lata dashed around the slum in search of anything that would be to her benefit. Whether it was clothes, food, even a blanket it really didn't matter. Supplies were limited.
The young girl frowned as she heard a loud rumble come from her stomach. When was the last time she had even eaten? It was hard to tell anymore.
Turning the corner, she saw the incoming crowd moving toward the area where most of the supplies were delivered in from the outside city. Huffing, Lata pushed her way through, no matter how many tried to force her back. Making it to the front, she managed to snag a loaf of bread. Before anyone could try and rip the food from her arms, she made a run for it towards the outer sections. That portion of the blighted area was close to where non-magic civilians lived in their much larger portion of the town. Sitting down to dig into her prize, she ignored the few disgusted stares she got from the occasional passerby.
(Sorry that my first response is so long! I just wanna set things up well)

Nagai followed her father to a meeting or something, she wasn’t paying attention so she didn’t really know. She adjusted the uncomfortable dress, annoyed she had to wear it. As her father droned on about, “Magic bad,” and, “Important meeting,” or whatever, Nagai glanced at the bid windows. They were tall and wide with small legdes. Nagai knew they went all along the side of the building from walking around the building so many times. While her father was distracted she could….
Nagai slipped off her heels without a sound, glad to finally be free of it pinching her feet and cutting into the back of her feet. She quietly ran to a window on her tip-toes and opened it. Luckily, the windows didn’t make a sound as they opened. Nagai only opened the side closest to her father so he wouldn’t feel a breeze. After she had her balance, with the help of wind, Nagai unzipped the dress into the tank top and yoga pants she had underneath. She dropped her phone, just in case they could track her through it, and started jumping down the window ledges. She didn’t use much of her power as to not make people suspicious of her.
After she hastily put together a disguise, Nagai decided to wander the streets, sometimes going into and ally or two to explore. She noticed a girl during her journey who was devouring a loaf of bread. Feeling bad for her, Nagai bought a loaf of bread, cheese, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Ah approached the girl and offered the food with a smile.
Looking up, she noticed another girl seeming to want to share her portion of food. Squinting her eyes, she quickly surveyed what the other was carrying. It was a rare thing to get anything fresh, and upon seeing that every single item was indeed just that, Lata snatched an apple quickly out of the armful. The younger girl took a moment to savor the juicy produce before swallowing.
Before taking another bite, she took another look at the girl before her. She seemed a bit too clean to have been living here. Perhaps she just got put in here recently? No… there was something about her. Perhaps her hair color? Putting the thought aside for a moment, Lata decided to thank the older girl.
Nagai offered the rest of her food to the girl and wrote on the notepad she brought, You can have it all, you need it more than I do. Nagai handed the note and food to the girl with a smile. She sat cross legged next to the girl. She wrote another note, Mind if I hang out around you? I’m new here and it’d be nice to have someone show me around.
Nagai looked around, this seemed to be the bad part of town. Nagai has known it was bad, but she hadn’t expected it to be this bad. She looked at the other girl’s clothes. They were basically rags. It also seemed like the younger girl hadn’t eaten much at all.
Even for a young girl living in such a run down area, she was still able to read due to her parents teaching her before they passed on. Nearly finished with the apple, Lata took the notes with a confused look on her face. Could she not speak? Nibbling on her lower lip for a moment, she hoped there would be some way for them to communicate once the paper had run out on the other's notepad.
Shaking her head, Lata refused not to share. It was odd, but if the new girl was going to survive in this place, she was going to have to eat whenever they had the chance.
"Since you're new, let me say this: However you got all this? Doesn't matter right now. The important thing is that you eat whatever you can now. Food is scarce as more and more are sent here," Lata began to explain. Taking a slice of cheese next, she began to nibble on it before speaking again.
"As for the second thing, that's really up to you."
Nagai shook her head, You need it more than me, I’ll be able to take care of myself. Nagai insisted. She grabbed the kerchief her father always had her carry and wrapped the rest of the food in it, handing it to the girl. Nagai hoped the younger girl wouldn’t notice the small embroidered insignia of her father.
This confused Lata quite a bit. In the back of her mind, she made a plan to ration the food between the two if needed. Taking the now tied up kerchief, her eyes widened. Was it some sort of fancy silk or something? She could probably trade it for extra rations in the future. Giving the other girl a smile, Lata stood and held out a hand.
"I'm Lata by the way."
Nagai smiled and took the girl’s hand, I’m N- she hesitated. It probably wasn’t the best idea to used her real name, I’m Nishikawa, but you can call me “Ni” Nagai smiled. Dang, she was bad at this.
