Ceana waddled over to Anna and picked her up gently, stroking her wing. "Niall, try and calm down. You'll look suspicious."
Ceana waddled over to Anna and picked her up gently, stroking her wing. "Niall, try and calm down. You'll look suspicious."
"Sir? Mr. Niall? You and your friends, come with us."
A Roman general stood awkwardly at the edge of the clearing, alone. "Our men are waiting. You're coming to Athens, for your safety."
Niall jumped and ran his hand through his hair. "Ahm… Yes. Yes, sir." He posed regally as the general bowed, and he turned back nervously to face his friends as they left.
Ceana looked up at the general. She schooled her features into a lazily calm expression and walked up to Niall. "Wasn't expecting that. Well, let's go!"
Anna shook her wings out and jumped out of Ceana's hands, her body bouncing back into its original human form.
Niall followed the general silently, expression unreadable. Niall mounted his horse, Anna, when instructed, and turned to watch the others as they mounted their own.
Ceana climbed onto her horse and steadied herself waiting for orders.
Anna took a deep breath and clenched her fists. She willed herself not to transform into another being.
The general led the way down the dirt road facing South. "We ride until nightfall. Please hurry; It's bad enough I'm missing a battle for you."
Is that any way to treat an heir to the Throne? Niall thought bitterly to himself, though unwilling to argue. He honestly didn't care all that much. It wasn't like people weren't wrong when they talked about him. He had no idea how he would run an Empire. He sidled up beside his friends and rode in silence for a few minutes before finally speaking up. "you guys excited?"
Ceana shrugged. "Never been to Greece, and I can't say I have any idea what to expect."
"You'll love it," Niall replied to soothe her. "The food's amazing, it's warm, it's on the beach, there's tan, blonde dudes in togas… Oh, sorry. That was for me."
Ceana laughed quietly. "Sounds great. How 'bout you, Anna? You ever been?"
"No. I don't really know much about it either."
(should we timeskip to tonight?)
(sure)
(ok when i get back)
"We stop here." The general slid silently off his horse and turned to face the others, bowing. "I am at your service, ma'ams and sir."
Anna didn't know what to do. She shifted uncomfortably. "Th-thank you," she said. (why do I make my characters so loaded with anxiety)
Ceana nodded her thanks to the general. She jumped off her horse and stroked its neck, running her hands through its mane.
(anxiety as heck k lol)
Niall dismounted and made his way slowly over to his friends, helping them off their saddles. Just because he was the Emperor's son didn't mean he couldn't help others. "Looks like we're finally camping out!"
Anna smiled and thanked Niall for the help, following them both.
Ceana walked beside her friends as they looked around the camp. "This is nice, considering."
"Considering what?" Anna asked, curious.
"That it's a battle camp in the middle of nowhere." Ceana laughed.
Anna chuckled, her nervousness from before lifted away.
