Orion has laughed at that, as he considered the irony of it to be funny. In the morning, he woke up on the hard ground, and he groaned with pain as he sat up, an ache in his bones. He realized he must have blacked out when he had shifted the night before. He was in the middle of a clearing, now back to his human state. Blood was smeared on his clothes and around his mouth. He licked a bit from his mouth, sighing in relief that it was just animal blood.

"So where are we going, ma'am?" Nathaniel looked up at Lillith politely.

"Doctor's," she said. "Let's go."

"Yes, ma'am." Nathaniel stood up, swaying a bit on his feet. He took a moment to steady himself before following.

Soon, they arrived at the doctor's.

Nathaniel walked back to the store with Lillith, looking downcast. The doctor had confirmed what he'd feared: He would never be able to fly again. His bent wings hung at his back.

"Hey, Nathaniel…" Lilith started, then stopped, not knowing what to say. "Have you ever been to earth before? Any friends?"

"Once… it.. i-it wasn't a good experience. T-the last time I was on earth was the day my brother died…"
