Marlin stumbled through the woods, he couldn't see much, but there was a faint glow ahead of him. For a moment he was afraid he had found a wildfire, but it didn't seem to be moving through the trees. Maybe it was controlled? A bonfire one of the villagers had started. But why would anyone start a bonfire in the woods?
The very stone underneath Ignis began to glow. This event surprised him. He quickly extinguished the flames and ran behind the nearest tree. However, a ball of purple flame darted at Ignis, passing through the tree. Ignis' heart was attacked as the very tree began to catch fire. Ignis lost conscious as the very woods around him started to burn.
Marlin wasn't sure exactly what had happened, but now the trees were on fire. He started running towards it, yelling for someone to help even though he was pretty sure no one could hear him.
He came to a stone platform, almost tripped over it actually, the fire was all around him now. He started stomping on burning leaves, desperately trying to put out a wildfire himself. And still yelling for help.
As Ignis began to regain consciousness, he started to hear someone yell for help. Ignis couldn't see anything but the brightness of the flames, he could feel the heat and suddenly realized the situation.
Marlin cursed, he wasn't helping at all the flames were getting bigger. A spark flew up and landed on his arm. Yelping he jumped away and fell against a tree, skinning his elbow on the rough bark.
Ignis jumped up in surprise, he began chanting as he started to absorb the flames. The intensity began to overwhelm him. He then heard cursing followed by a yelp. While continuing to absorb the flames, he tried to remain hidden from the stranger that followed.
Marlin was surprised to see the flames dying away and to hear chanting coming from behind a tree. Amazing, wildfires in an enchanted forest. "Hello?"
After the flames had past, Ignis remained behind the tree. He was afraid of who remained on the other side. "I-I…my name is…" Ignis couldn't say. His mind raced and fear rose. He couldn't know who the strange man was or why he lingered into the forest. The enchanted forest had always protected the Elementals.
Marlin poked his head around the tree to find a slightly terrified looking man staring back at him.
"Uh- Hi there."
Without second thought, Ignis instantly punched the man in the gut. "I'm so sorry! I just…I didn't mean to!"
"Oof." That was the very last thing he was expecting. Marlin stumbled backwards, feeling a little bit scared that he was about to get mugged.
"What the heck is wrong with you?!" he yelled. "You can't just punch people!"
"Usually I know them!" Ignis observed the man closely, "You must be part of the patrol."
Ignis gains his posture. "I apologize for the attack."
Marlin turned his back to Ignis and began examining the scorch marks on the ground, poking bits of ash with his foot.
"So if you know somebody you punch them? Bet you're real popular."
Ignis realized his words, and began to panic inside, "No! I-I mean I usually don't have to because I know everyone! Seeing a stranger show up in the woods, call it fighter's instinct" Ignis began walking back to the village before stopping. "What did you see?"
"Um, a big fire, and then it very conveniently stopped existing." Marlin shrugged. "And I heard you chanting what's up with that?"

"It, uh…" Ignis felt nervous and still panicking, "It was prayer! I was praying for safety."
Sage picked her way through the woods, bare feet sinking in the soft soil, shoes held loosely in her hand. It was quiet in this part, as usual, except for her singing. She smiled, letting out a soft laugh when a bird perched on her shoulder. She kept walking, bird departing and smile dropping when she heard voices. Who else is even here?
Ignis began to walk again when the stone circle in the open area began to grow again. His eyes locked onto the sigils engraved in the stone. "For each who walk among the spirits of another, fate shall be woven…"
Sage hid behind a tree, brushing honey blonde waves from her face, green eyes going wide at the sight of the glowing circle. Her mind was a box of NOPE. Half of her wanted to see what would happen. The other half screamed to run. She found herself dropping her shoes, daring to peek out from behind the charred tree a tiny bit more to see better. "Whoa…" She whispered, pretty sure her voice was soft enough to not be heard. She was probably wrong.
