Dalton laughed, "Oh I see." He smiled a little, "If you ever have holes in your memory where you can't remember what happened it's probably because I compelled you to do something, so don't think you're going insane."
Dalton laughed, "Oh I see." He smiled a little, "If you ever have holes in your memory where you can't remember what happened it's probably because I compelled you to do something, so don't think you're going insane."
Wess waved back. After a while of awkward silence, Wess decided to introduce himself, “Hi, I’m Wess,” he said.
Cicada made finger guns and watched as the tips of her pointer fingers ignited as she responded, "Gotcha. But try not to do that and I promise not to set your stuff on fire."
Dalton squinted at her, "I'll try. No promises." He looked back down at his map of the school.
Cicada shrugged, "Good enough for me. So where to first?"
"We have options," He raised an eyebrow at Cicada, "The library, and not because I'm a super nerd who enjoys reading but because it's a good place to misbehave. The cafeteria because, well food! Or we can run through some of our classes. It's up to you."
"V-Vien," he responded, beginning to unpack. He didn't have much, between the multitude of foster homes and his lack of money. He finished unpacking relatively quickly, setting his empty duffel to the side. He had kept his satchel inside it, making sure to hide it until he decided it was safe to carry it around with him
"Library," Cicada responded, "I need to know where to go when I need a place to hide. I get into a lot of trouble."
Dalton laughed at how similar the two seemed to be already. "Library it is."
Tristan made his way to the library quite easily. He folded up his map and slid it into his pocket before browsing for books, unsure if any of them would be remotely interesting.
Cicada smiled. She might get along with her roommate, that was a first. She realized her hand was still on fire and put it out.
“Cool,” Wess nodded. He lay on his bed and held the map up. Wess examined it, trying to memorize the layout of the academy without success. Each time he thought he had memorized it, he messed up terribly. After many failed attempts, Wess sighed and threw the map to the side. Absentmindedly, he started to chew on his nails from the prospect of the academy.
They eventually arrived at a large victorian looking doorway with a fancy sign that read, 'Library'. "Something tells me this is Library," Dalton said dryly, "They could have made it a little less obvious."
Vien looked at Wess, frowning lightly as he saw him chewing his nails. "Do you want some g-gum or something? I'm sure that would taste better t-than your nails. Woul-ld be better for your health, at least," he said, his finger twitching as he stammered
Cicada scoffed, "They really could have. I wonder if everything will have signs like that. Like food here. Or estranged child right that way!"
"And there will be an arrow coming off of the 'estranged child' sign pointing in my direction." Dalton smiled.
Tristan pulled a book off the shelf with the title The World From Very Far Away. He turned it over so he could read the back cover and determine if he should waste time reading it.
“Hm?” Wess looked over at Vien, “Oh, nah, it’s fine, it’s a bad habit,” Wess admitted, “I’m trying to stop, but it’s harder than you’d think,” Wess sighed. He put his hands under his head to stop himself from biting them again.
Cicada laughed, "Don't you mean everyone's direction? I think we're all estranged here."
"Here," Vien said, fishing a piece of gum from the pack in his pocket and tossing it to Wess. He was determined not to make a bad impression. The last time he did, he ended up with a broken nose and a bail of over 20,000 dollars
Dalton nodded, "You may have a point there!" He said entering the scary looking, Victorian doors.
Cicada walked through the door. The room smelled of musty books, "I wonder the last time they cleaned around here."
“Oh, thanks,” Wess smiled. He sat up, unwrapped the gum, and popped it into his mouth. Wess took his hair out of its ponytail which was loosening too much. He re-tied it into it’s low ponytail, then stared at the wall for no reason.
"More than likely about 2 days after they built the place 5million years ago," Dalton said sarcastically. He looked around, it was a fairly large library with fancy long-tabled and benches, plus there had to be 1 thousand huge bookshelves.
