Ezra slipped his hands into his pockets as he took his seat in one of the many metal chairs situated in a circle, Ms.G was in the corner, talking on her cellphone and she seemed to cycle between angry and sad, something that shocked Ezra.
He was the first person to the meeting, which meant no one else had arrived yet, he was a full hour and a half early, he took his phone out and scrolled through it, with it's glitchiness and cracked screen.
Silver got there 45 minutes later and sat down. For a change she was wearing pants, not even an inch of her pale skin was showing, all except her head. She sat quietly, going on her phone.
Ezra turned his body towards her slowly.
"How was your week?" He asked, they had been doing partner exercises but Ms. G was so distracted she hadn't even noticed Ezra, who had no partner, as Silver was the only one he talked to.
"It was pretty good," Her voice sounded shaky and uncertain, "How about yours?"
Ezra smiled lightly.
"It was okay," he admitted. "Could always be worse."
"Yeah, you're right," she said weakly. Silver went onto her phone, not really paying attention to anyone else
"Are you—" Ezra said, then abruptly stopped, his mouth still open to speak. "Are you alright?"
Her cold attitude towards him made him wonder if he had done something wrong and he thought back to their interactions, trying to find what it could be, when he couldn't he went back again, thinking maybe it was something he subconsciously did and it angered her towards him for some reason.
Silver looked over and smiled, "I'm just a little tired.." She sighed, "See, I got a new boyfriend, and I'm to scared to tell him no,"
Ezra raised an eyebrow.
"Tell him no, how…" He pressed slightly.
He really hoped Silver didn't mean it in the way he thought she did, which meant sex, which meant she was practically not giving consent, which he knew destroyed some women mentally.
She pressed a finger to her lips, she showed him a medium sized bruise on her stomach. "Sometimes he gets angry .." She said with a smile
Ezra's eyes widened.
"You need to get away from that." He whispered urgently. "I mean, you deserve so much better."
Silver smiled, "Thanks for caring, that's nice of you, but I'm alright. He's nice, he just doesn't get told no," Almost like a look of sadness and pain, deep in her dark eyes, she forced a smile.
Ezra shook his head and scowled at her, something rare for him.
"So you're just going to let him do what he wants?" He spat angrily. "That's not a very healthy relationship."
His face then softened and he frowned at her, a look of disappointment on her face.
"I thought you out of all people, would let their boyfriend treat them." He said sadly and then angled his body away from her.
Silver clenched her fists, she bit her lip as she tried to fight back tears. But I don't know what to do, I have to move on somehow.. right?
Silver stood up suddenly, "I'm going to get going, I'll see you." She waved to Ezra and walked out of the room. Once she got outside, she unexpectedly ran into her boyfriend, he embraced her.
Ezra crossed his arms across his chest.
He then sighed heavily and heaved himself upwards, sticking his hands into his pockets and went up the staircase and out into the night.
He then spotted Silver and her boyfriend and looked pointedly away as he pulled out a crumpled packet of cigarettes.
"You shouldn't go to therapy anymore, you don't need it." He grabbed her wrist and pulled her away. "Why do you even go anyway, Jude is in the past so just forget about him."
"Let go, you're hurting me.." She whispered
Ezra lifted a cigarette from the pack and wedged it between his lips hurriedly, lighting it with heavily shaking hands.
He hated scenes, he always had, especially ones he had to get involved in, or else, someone would get hurt.
He inhaled strongly and blew out a haze of greyish smoke.
He then kicked himself off the brick wall with one foot, throwing the cigarette down after one more hit and walked over.
he put on a bright smile.
"Listen man, the girl said she wants you to let go, so let go man." He said warningly.
"Who the fuck are you," The man was quite a bit larger than Ezra, "She belongs to me so I can do what I want, it's that simple, so who do you think you are?"
Ezra rolled his eyes
. It always had to be the big republican looking dudes, why couldn't it ever be the small shy ones? He could get them to stop their possessiveness over the woman in question easily.
"Shut up, honestly" Ezra said and pulled his phone out, dialing 911, he hovered his thumb over the call button. "Don't make me call the police, man, I don't want to put you in jail." He said warily.
"Put me in Jair for what," he snorted, "Let's go, Silvia," He began walking away, dragging her behind her. Silver hung her head as a tear rolled down her face
Ezra pressed his thumb to the button and quickly told the dispatcher the problem, she asked if Ezra had the woman's address, he hesitated then gave it to her, considered he had walked her home and was easily able to figure it out due to spending his life in the area.
He pushed her inside the apartment and slammed her against the wall, "Who was that fucker? Huh?!"
"Please stop.." She squeaked
"You're never going to see that guy again, okay?"
Silver didn't respond, she was shaking with fear and didn't even want to move.
"Okay?!" He threw her to the floor. She hit the hard wood floor boards with a thud, Silver cried out in pain, clenching her shoulder.
(I was just gonna time skip to the next meeting, since it's very obvious Silver's boyfriend is abusing her and Ezra sent the police to her home.)
Ezra sat quietly in the metal folding chair, he was not the first here, but he also wasn't the last, he waited for Silver to arrive, though he was not sure if she was mad at him for sending the police to her apartment.
Silver showed up late, she rushed in and sat down. Her arm was in a cast and her long hair had been cut in half. She didn't even look at Ezra, she kept her eyes glued to the floor
