Tanrial knocked an arrow into her bow and took aim, waiting a few more moments before she shot, someone managing to take down two of the birds instead of one, “Nice.”
(Gotta go, seeya later ^^)

"Good shot," Bernon called softly. "Let's head back now, I don't want to get lost."
As they walked, he took a deep breath. "Man, that cub's a handful. I guess I'm taken in too easily by cute things. You're pretty good at being firm with her though. Kudos to you."
(Okay seeya ^^)
Tanrial laughed a little, “Thanks, it’s a skill. One you should learn.” She said, raising her eyebrow slightly and smiled anyway.
He returned the laugh. "Yeeeeah, I can be a bit of a pushover sometimes. I've never really had to discipline a kid before now. It's….harder than it looks." He paused, watching the sky thoughtfully.
"Man. How many days has it been since we set out for Ryker? I think it's only been about five days, but it feels like a couple weeks. So much happened in that time."
“I know. The quicker this problem is solved the better. Then we can relax for a while.” She said, shaking her head a little as they neared the camp. From the looks of things, Mike hadn’t kill Snatch, yet.
Mike was busy setting up a kettle of water over the fire, paying no mind to Snatch, who was playfully climbing all over him and batting at his hair. He glanced up when he heard them approaching. "Hey. Any luck?"
“Two turkeys, I don’t know what Bernon got.” Tanrial said, placing the birds on the ground before sitting down herself.
Bernon sorted through his finds. "I got some nice mushrooms, wild strawberries, shepherd's purse leaves, and…..yeah. Not much, but it'll last us a while."
"Great. Throw it in the kettle, the water will be boiling soon."
(sorry I'm late btw. I also have to leave very soon so we won't have much time tonight, fair warning)
(aaand turns out I have to go now, sorry!! See you tomorrow for sure!)
Tanrial sighed and laid on her back, “Do you think we’ll be able to stop Ryker?”
(Okay, seeya tomorrow!)
Mike shrugged. "It's just a matter of being strategic and hitting hard where it'll make the most difference. I'd like to avoid hurting any of the kids– they're not a part of this. But one way or another, Ryker has to be taken care of. Also the commanders of his army, and the core of scientists that work with him. Cut off the head of the snake, and all that."
"I know you guys are tired of me talking like this," Bernon said, "but I wish there was a way we could do this without killing anyone. What if we can just reason with them or write a petition or something?"
"I think it would be optimistic to assume we'll even be able to control the people we're about to recruit," Mike replied. "Making sure nobody gets killed will be a big enough challenge."
“There isn’t a real way to stop people being killed. Poeple have to know the risks and one of them is that they might die.” Tanrial said, sitting up.
"Yeah," Bernon said quietly. "I know."
Snatch stared at them all curiously, then sighed with boredom. "I'm hungry. Is the food ready yet?"
“You’re so impatient. Pantice, Snatch. It’ll be ready when it’s ready.” Tanrial replied, looking over at the cub for a few moments.
Snatch whined and flopped on the ground. "What are you guys even talking about? If you're mad at a Ryker man, why don't you fight him yourself?"
(brb, eating supper)
“Ryker is too powerful for us to fight by ourselves, so we are recruiting people to help us.” Tanrial briefly explained.
"Hmm. You guys are so weak. My mom woulda eaten what's-his-name in one bite."
Bernon glanced at her and said gently. "Snatch….what happened to your mom? Did you get separated from her?"
Snatch quieted and stared at her paws. "…No." She sat down, still not looking at them. "Some humans came and hurt her. They cheated, they ganged up on her! They stabbed her with bits of metal! She beat 'em all, but……she got blood-sick, and…."
Mike watched her. "What about your dad? Couldn't he help?"
"I don't know who my dad is. Mom said a rockfall got him."
Mike looked away, clearly regretting the question. "Oh."
“I’m so sorry Snatch.” Tanrial said quietly, “I wish I could bring your parents back for you.”
Snatch didn't answer, sitting with her tail curled tightly around her and her eyes on the fire.
Bernon scooted over and tenderly picked her up. "It's okay. We'll take care of you now. You'll be fine." He stroked her ears and she closed her eyes, the faint beginnings of a purr whispering from her chest.
Mike studied them for a moment, then sighed. "It's pretty late, and the food's about ready. Let's eat and go to bed. Tanrial, you still got first watch?"
(gotta go to bed, seeya later ^^)
Tanrial nodded, “Yeah, and Snatch, if you still want I can teach you that fire trick?”
(Okay, seeya)
Snatch brightened a little and hopped off Bernon's lap. "Okay."
While dishing up the soup, Mike picked up one of the turkeys that was still raw and snapped off a leg. "Snatch. Do you want this cooked?"
"Just make it a little warm," she answered, licking her lips.
Mike propped it over the fire for a few minutes, then handed it to her. She pounced on it and began to eat with relish.
After supper, Bernon yawned. "Well, goodnight Tanrial. Wake me in a couple hours, I'll take watch once your shift is done."
Tanrial nodded, “Alright, goodnight.” She said before turning to Snatch, “Promise me you’re not going to go around lighting things on fire recklessly? While you’re still with us I have to be there to supervise you, got it?”
