After having finally reached the door to her second-floor apartment, Blaine sighed and set her bag on the ground.
Ugh, where in the world are my keys? she wondered as she searched her pants pockets and her backpack.
After having finally reached the door to her second-floor apartment, Blaine sighed and set her bag on the ground.
Ugh, where in the world are my keys? she wondered as she searched her pants pockets and her backpack.
Amai grabbed his keys on the way up, unlocking his door as soon as he arrived. He set his backpack on the floor before closing the door. Amai walked over to where Blaine was struggling, “What’s up?” Amai asked, a grin on his face, “It seems like you need some help.”
Blaine shot Amai a sarcastic smile.
"I can't seem to find my keys. Again," she stated bluntly.
“Again? Geez, you’re worse at misplacing things then me!” Amai giggled, “I’ll help you find it, where did you have it last?” Amai asked.”
"Uh… Right after I left…" Blaine trailed off, her expression turning thoughtful.
“Left where?” Amai started to look around the nearby area, just in case.
Blaine blinked and shook her head, coming back to the present. She had been mentally retracing her steps, but she couldn't think of where the keys could be.
"Here. When I left here," she explained, bending back down to dig in her backpack. She bit her lip as she strained her shoulder, though she showed no other signs of pain.
Amai watched Blaine, bouncing on the balls of his feet. He didn’t look into her bag, that’d be rude, so he scanned the room some more, looking for her keys.
"Ah-ha!" Blaine suddenly shouted, standing up straight. "I found them, finally."
“Yeah!” Amai cheered, “Need help with anything else?” Amai asked, he might as well.
Blaine shook her head, ignoring the pain in her shoulder. "No, I'm good. Thanks, though," she said with a nod as she looked for the key to unlock her door. Once she found it, she opened her door, nodding 'goodbye' to Amai.
“Ok… if you say so. I’ll see you around!” Amai was a bit skeptical, but it was her choice if she wanted help or not. He walked into his own apartment. Amai grabbed an ice pack from his freezer, a towel, a tub of ice cream, and a spoon before sitting on the couch. He turned on the TV and turned on Netflix, flipping through, trying to find something to watch.
Once inside her apartment, Blaine immediately went to her room to set her things down. She headed to the bathroom and pulled her shirt away from her shoulder to examine the wound she had gotten. With a hiss of pain, she saw that there was a fairly deep gash going down her shoulder, just above her armpit.
When Amai didn’t find anything new he really wanted to watch, he decided to rewatch Death Note. He checked on his bruise, it was looking pretty bad. Amai concluded it would be fine if he checked on it after one episode.
Blaine shut her eyes against the sight of blood. She should be used to it by now, and she knew that. Truthfully, she was. It just reminded her of…something she didn't want to think about.
Opening her eyes, she took her shirt off so that she was just wearing her tank top, then moved the strap so it wouldn't be in her way. Taking out supplies from below the sink, Blaine began to clean the cut, wincing.
Amai looked at the bruise, it was worse. Amai poked it and immediately wished he hadn’t. Amai sighed, cuts he could do, but he could never treat bruises correctly. He contemplated going over to Blaine, but she was probably busy. Amai looked up “how to treat bruises” in hopes he could treat it himself. He sighed, nothing was working. He reluctantly stood and walked to Blaine’s room. Amai hesitated, but eventually knocked.
Blaine's eyes shot to the bathroom door when she heard someone knock. She was almost done treating her wound, keyword being "almost." As in, she wasn't done yet.
"One moment!" she shouted, hurrying to finish.
“Ok!” Amai called back. He started to sway back and forth.
As soon as she was finished, Blaine fixed the strap of her tank top, then threw on an over-sized hoodie. She grimaced slightly when she realized which one she had picked.
Zach…
She shook her head, clearing it of the reminiscing thoughts going through her mind that threatened to make tears spill from her eyes. When she was sure she wouldn't burst into tears, she walked over to her door and opened it.
"Amai? What's wrong?" she asked upon seeing him swaying.
“Oh, nothing, I…. uh….. need help,” Amai answer sheepishly. He rubbed the back of his neck, “I ran into my counter really hard, I tried everything, but I don’t know how to treat it.” Amai lifted his shirt a bit to show the bruise, “I didn’t think it was too bald, but it really hurts now! Can you help me please?” Amai looked at Blaine with an embarrassed smile.
"Woah, dude… How did you even run into your counter hard enough to make it that bad?" Blaine questioned when she saw the bruise. She motioned for Amai to come inside. "Come on inside. I'll go get some of my things."
“Thanks, and I was chasing Blizzard, he stole my stuffed animal and I wanted it back.” Amai bluffed, hoping Blaine would believe him. He walked into Blaine’s apartment and sat in the nearest chair. Why? Because he could.
"Hm…" Blaine absentmindedly hummed her acknowledgment of Amai's explanation as she went back into the bathroom to grab the things she'd need. "Okay, so how much pressure can you put on it before it hurts? Because you'll have to rub some of this onto it," she said, holding up a small jar of pale blue paste.
“Ok. Um… it hurts with a bit of pressure…? I don’t know, but I should be able to put that on,” Amai shrugged.
Blaine nodded, pulling a chair over and sitting in it before opening the jar.
"Here. You'll just need enough to cover the surface of the bruise, and it should feel pretty cool to the touch," she said as she held the jar out to Amai.
