Jacob tapped his fingers against his pants. What now?
He laughed slightly, "Well, this party has been certainly… wild, huh?"
Jacob tapped his fingers against his pants. What now?
He laughed slightly, "Well, this party has been certainly… wild, huh?"
"Yeah. Wild," Brooke replied with a nervous laugh. "So.. Uh… What do you want to do?"
(Hey, you still up for this?)
(Yeah I am just didn't respond yesterday cause I went to bed)
(Lol. Np. Just making sure.)
"Oh?" Jake jumped at the question. "I… dunno…" Liar…
A moment of silence passed before Brooke broke it with a groan.
"Why is this so awkward? We're best friends, this shouldn't be weird, right?" she blurted suddenly.
"Maybe-Maybe the fact we are best friends is making this awkward. Because we've never considered this before," he said, bravely.
"Yeah, I guess…" Brooke breathed. She bit her lower lip, nervous and unsure of this whole situation.
"I-What do you think?" Jacob's face heated.
Brooke blinked. In this stupid darkness, she couldn't see anything, so that was not helping with anything. At least this way, though, Jacob wouldn't be able to see the blush that was quickly rising to her cheeks.
"What do I think about what?" she asked quietly.
"About-About what you want. Brooke… What do you really want?" Jake shakily muttered, but loud enough for her to hear.
"I– I–" Brooke stuttered. Why was he asking her this? What was she supposed to say, 'Jake, I've secretly been in love with you for a while now'?
He looked down in shame at her stuttering. Of course she didn't like him like that…. what was he thinking?
"I don't know about you, but I really want a corndog," he backed up his previous statement.
That was what he meant? No, that couldn't be it. Maybe… Maybe it was something else…
After a battle raging in her mind, Brooke finally managed to choke out in barely a whisper, "I really like you."
He wouldn't let himself think that way again. It'd hurt even more than it already did.
Jake sighed, "Of course you do B-Brooke; I'm your best friend."
Oh. So that really was what he meant.
"Right, yeah, of course," Brooke mumbled, feeling a little hurt, but unwilling to show it.
(GAH YOU TWO ARE HOPELESS)
"Ha, ye-yeah…" Jacob whispered.
(Aren't they, though? Lol.
I just listened to a mashup of songs that kinda made me think of them.)
"A corndog does sound nice," Brooke said quietly in agreement.
(Lol. Nice.)
Jacob leaned his head back on the wall. "The seven minutes should be up soon…"
"Yeah." Brooke went back to rubbing her arms. It had to have been at least five minutes. If it wasn't, this was going to feel like forever.
He shut his eyes. This was fine. This was great.
The rest of their time was spent in silence, and Brooke breathed a sigh of relief when Jessie finally opened the door. The hostess looked almost disappointed to see Brooke and Jacob standing apart, not even looking at each other.
Brooke stepped out, keeping her eyes to the ground, not daring to look back at Jake.
(Oof, it's been almost a week since anyone's been here.)
(AGH
I'm so sorry I didn't notice you replied! Falls on ground hoping for forgiveness.)
He breathed a sigh of relief as the door opened, though kept quiet about what happened. He stared at his shoes, not daring to look at anyone, especially Brooke. He was too humiliated to look at her. You coward…
