"Um… yeah, sure, you can call it that," MJ replied vaguely, waving a hand in the air. (seraphim [angel] blood is made up of holy fire, so a lot of angels/half angels are fire magic users because it comes more naturally to them) "But I don't think you are!" She jumped up in the air, lighting her hands on fire. (she's not actually going to light parker on fire she just wanted a good comeback haha)
(lol okay but parker's not gonna know that)
Parker yelped, alarmed. She dropped to the ground and rolled away and to the side. "I'm fairly sure I'm not," she said, coming up to a kneel.
"Dude, I'm not actually going to light you on fire, relax. And if so…" MJ rubbed her hands together as if they were cold. They started to glow brighter and brighter. "Hey, that's what healers are for, right?"
"Healers are for healing injuries," Parker said, glaring playfully and standing up. "Not reckless injuries. I will heal reckless injuries but I will not be happy about it."
Azora left the apartment stepping on to the streets, wading through waist high fog, and searching for the souls stuck in limbo.
"Hello miss," Azora paused looking behind her to see a small staring at her through the fog, "Are you the Shepard?" The young approached slowly.
"No, I'm sorry I'm not the Shepard," She held up her hands showing the bright red symbols, "I'm just visiting and looking for someone, have you seen a Theodore Kenex?"
"There is no Theodore Kenex here and as far as I know there hasn't been one."
"Do you know everyone who passes through?" Azorra asked looking down at the girl.
"I get lonely here, so I try to find the others, I've been here a lot longer than most so i can feel when others check in and the soul you're looking for hasn't."
"Well, this is a whole new issue then." She looked back at the girl, "Do you remember your name?"
"Annabella." She whispered, "Annabella Simms."
"Well, Annabella, Thank you for your help and I'll do what I can to help you move on, but i'm gonna have to leave soon I don't have a lot of time before I can't go back."
"Healers are for healing injuries," Parker said, glaring playfully and standing up. "Not reckless injuries. I will heal reckless injuries but I will not be happy about it."
"Alright, then, sorry beforehand," MJ said airily, pulling apart her hands. A jet of fire flew towards the ground. "Watch… out!" (it won't burn severely if it hits, just looks impressive)
Parker took a quick, wide step out of the way, watching the fire with wide eyes. She wasn't sure if MJ was trying to fight or show off. Probably a bit of both. "Well at least you warned me," she said, her eyes still on the fire.
"Come on, fight!" MJ cheered, a wisp of smoke still drifting up from her palms. "You can do it!"
"I–" Parker looked at MJ, scanning her. She ran at her. They were here to fight after all. When she got to MJ Parker slammed to the ground and kicked her legs behind MJ's, knocking her to the ground. The grass grew up around her, pulling her into the ground.
"That's kinky," MJ teased, winking. She puffed up her cheeks and blew out a jet of flame at the ground around her, scorching the earth.
Parker tried to get the grass to grow up and around MJ's head before she could set the grass on fire, but she wasn't fast enough and ended up rolling out of the way. "No," Parker said, standing up, "it's just battle." MJ's teasing had definitely worked.
"Call if you need help," Azora told the girl after telling her how to communicate through reflective surfaces, "You have my name and that should be all you need to find me. Also if you hear anything please get a message to me." She told the girl as she started to sit down in the bath tub. "I have to go thirty minutes is the most I can spare in this world, I hope to hear from you Annabella." Azora dunked her head under the water.
~~~~~~~
Azora jerked up right back in the world of the living, "Blessings, it's colder than 9th in here." She quickly stepped over the sink and started running her hands under slightly warm water. "Come on, come on blood start moving I don't want to lose any fingers."
Fiona jumped and almost swung the chair she had been sitting on at Azora. She instead chucked the book she was reading right next to Azora and yelled "Geez! you scared me Azora!"
Azora rubbed her bare feet together and flexed her fingers under the water trying to stimulate blood flow. "Sorry, but it's not like you didn't know I was there."
"Yeah," Fiona looked at Azora and then continued "It just scared me." she grabbed her book from by Azora and then grabbed the chair, bringing it out of the bathroom.
"I… I can understand that," Azora said shivering a little, "The first time I preformed one of these I was doing the part you did. I was small and light at the time and so uncertain how to drowned someone… It took a lot longer because I kept letting her come up for breath. When she stoped moving I was certain I killed her for good." Azora shook her head, "I was out of my mind with grief and guilt for what I had done. I nearly lost it when I caught a glimpse of her walking down the hall to tell us what she found. Thought her ghost had come back to haunt me."
Fiona came back into the bathroom with a towel and blanket in hand "I bought both of these because I didn't know what you needed." She held them out to Azora and glanced at the tub of ice water.
"Oh, thank you." She took both and stared to dry her hair, "So… we might a problem, his soul never checked into the after life."
"oh….Well, that is a problem.." Fiona stood awkwardly by the door and looked around the bathroom, wondering where else the guy's soul could be.
"It's means that who ever is making these contracts is making them in exchange for souls." Azora shook her head, "This isn't good at all."
"No, it isn't…what are we supposed to do now?" Fiona glanced at Azora and pulled out her knife, cleaning her fingernails with it.
"We find out wha the deal was for." Azora shrugged, "This is unusual."
"Alright, how do we do that?" Fiona glanced at Azora and put her knife away.
"Lotteries? Wedding announcements? What would a human sell their soul for?" Azora asked.
