Mariko waited and sat down at the curb, hoping that they would come back soon. The last time she was alone….didn't turn out well.

Micah sighed as he fell back onto his bed. He had just gotten off the phone with his mom, who had told him that she would get home late. "Home alone…again.." His mom had to work late a lot recently, which left Micah home by himself most of the time. He stood up and made his way to the room across the hall from his. He opened the door and was immediately rushed with memories. Micah walked over and sat down on the bed pushed to the corner of the room. He felt something poke him as he sat down and he reached for it. It was…a piece of paper? He unraveled it and began to read to himself.
"I'm sorry,
Please forgive me.
_._ .. ._.. ._.. _ …. . __"
Micah gasped as he woke up, sweat and tears pouring down his face. Did I fall asleep? He asked himself quietly. The memories he'd remembered punctured his heart and made his whole body shake. Micah rubbed his eyes, trying to forget about all of these things like he normally did.
