Zackary grinned and glanced at her. “It’d be nice. I could bring Qhuinn during one of your lunch breaks and we could go out to eat.”
Zackary grinned and glanced at her. “It’d be nice. I could bring Qhuinn during one of your lunch breaks and we could go out to eat.”
Julie looked up at him and nodded. "I'd like that even more. Sounds like a wonderful plan. The girls at the office just adore Qhuinn." She said, glancing back at her baby's sleeping form.
Zackary followed her gaze to the child and smiled warmly. “I don’t blame them. He’s the cutest. Where do you work?”
“Oh,” Erik mumbled, Ryan staying quiet this time. The tension between them could’ve been sliced in half with a knife. Erik chewed his lip, giving Cam a desperate look. Help.
"Okay, well you want one?" Cam said, giving both of the boys a stern look that said Take a chocolate or else… He smiled afterward, opening the bag filled with sweets again.
Erik gave Ryan a stern look, the recipient blatantly ignoring it and taking a chocolate and immediately munching on it. Erik gave Cam an exasperated look, taking a deep breath to reel in his emotions before he could get upset. I shouldn’t be hard on Ryan if he’s… but…
"The Watch Tower. Newspaper firm. I'm Editorial Chief." She said with a proud gleam in her eyes. "I work hard, reading through those stories day in and day out. I was just a designer when I first got there."
Cam took one to, biting into it happily. "Aren't they yummy?" He asked cheerfully, grabbing another one quickly. "Brandi gets good sweets!"
Zackary beamed. “Then you really are as smart as you seem! Do you make good money there?”
Erik clenched and unclenched his fists behind his back, resisting the urge to shout at Cam that they weren’t helping at all at this point. Ryan’s eyes flicked over Erik, no doubt seeing right through him like he always did. Erik felt hopeless, he had no idea what to do at this point. He didn’t know how he could fix his brother at this point, he didn’t know how to save him.
Cam shot Erik a look and the words It's just regular chocolate dude are projected through his mind. "So, yummy?"
"Yeah it is… It really helps us get by." She said with a nod. It was so easy to talk to Zack, he listened and spoke back, didn't just let her ramble. "And it's what I love to do, besides cooking."
Zackary nodded with a smile. “It’s nice to know I’ve helped you out. I’m very glad you made a contract with me.” He set a hand on her shoulder.
A tiny relief shot through Erik at the look he received form Cam. “Sure,” Ryan replied, looking out the window without an expression. His brother was always good at that -wearing a blank face- Erik just wished he knew how to help more. To be able to know what his brother was thinking.
