"I-It's ok," Kaz stammered. He saw the guy he was looking at glance over at him, and a vague sense of anxiety that he had made a fool of himself crept into him. "I know I'm not the nicest person when I haven't slept, or when I have to study," he chuckled, gesturing a little at his forgotten laptop
Dara managed to grin at him. "Ah, yes. I'm actually a better person when I'm studying. Although some people say I'm extremely confusing." She glanced at his laptop. "Are you in college?"
Kaz shook his head. "No, can't afford college. Not now anyways. This is for a dumb test the garage a few blocks away is making me take before I can work there." He fiddled absently with his dog tags. "I'd like to go to college though. Don't know what for yet, but after the military I think I'll have it figured out."
Cyrus grew distracted, unintentionally gripping his coffee cup a tad too tightly. There were a few soft cracks, and he looked down, eyes wide as his claws had come out, being around four or five inches long. Because of this, they made a slight cut in the cup, a bit of coffee spilling out. He cursed sharply, flicking his hand until the nails shrunk back to their normal size. The hunger was becoming unbearable. He pushed of his feet, walking to grab napkins to clean up the small spill.
"The military is a waste of tax dollars," Dara mumbled without thinking. She switched subjects quickly, knowing she'd said something stupid. "Anyway, yeah, college is great. I got a full ride scholarship and now I'm fully immersed in this really cool research thing we've got going on."
Kaz felt an anger that wasn't quite normal suddenly appear in the back of his mind at the mention of the military. He opened his mouth to respond before realizing the guy from before had somehow…broken his cup? He hopped up, grabbing a couple napkins to help him clean up the mess
Dara grimaced as the full weight of the other guy's emotions hit her. There was something innately scary about being in his presence. She thought maybe she should help them with the spill, but she didn't want to get any closer.
Deley took a sip of her coffee when another contraction came. She spilled it all over herself. She mumbled as she got up to get some napkins, "This is not my day.
Kaz fumbled a little with the napkins, trying his best to help clean it. Then he saw someone else spill their coffee, and a flash of irritation crossed his mind. He shook his head, telling himself he'd help her after the tall guy. His eyes had turned just a little more purple though, an oddly pretty contrast to their usual grey
Cyrus came back, cleaning up the spill. He glanced to the man who was helping him, recognizing it as the attractive man that he had caught staring at him before. “Thanks,” He said quickly, picking up the cup and tossing it into the trash. So much for getting his energy back.
Kaz looked up at him. Oh no, he was even cuter closer up. He gave the tall guy an awkward smile. "It's no trouble, really. Um, if you want I could buy you a new one?" he offered
Everyone's emotions were so off. Dara hated it. She felt tempted to force them to feel what she felt, but thought better of it. That'd be an abuse of her godawful power. She heard the barista call her name and she hurried over. The sooner she was out of this shop, the better.
Cyrus flashed a smile, blinking his red and gold eyes a few times when the man’s figure flickered. “No, I couldn’t ask you to do that,” he said, collecting the damp napkins and throwing them away. “I’m Cyrus,” he said, holding out his hand for the man to shake.
Kaz shook his hand. "I'm Kaz." His smile softened to something a little less awkward. "Are you sure you don't want another coffee? It's no trouble, really."
“No, really, I’m alright. Don’t worry about it,” Cyrus insisted, flashing a bright, friendly smile.
Kaz gave him a cross between a frown and a smile that squished his face in an oddly adorable way. "Y'know what, I'm gonna buy you a new one anyways. What kinda coffee ya like?"
