"Well, we were just having a miscommunication," the woman said. "Come with me. I need to give you your task."
"Well, we were just having a miscommunication," the woman said. "Come with me. I need to give you your task."
Kye gave Hunter a look of concern, but followed the woman. In silence.
Hunter winced and followed the two. She knew that the woman, Lina, hated her, and she was worried.
Lina pulled open a small door and led Kye through. It was a pitch dark cave. She let a lamp. The walls were covered with strange pictures and figures.
"Nice place," Kye commented dryly. Idiot, Idiot, he told himself. We don't want to make more enemies, especially not off world.
Lina ignored his tone. "This is the Hall of Prophesy," she said. "You are written all over it."
"Why?" he asked looking around. "I'm not that important. Just a stupid guy that lives under a rock. Literally. All I'm good for is navigating caves without any light what so ever."
Lina shrugged. "The weakest people are sometimes the strongest."
Kye shut his mouth, refusing to say anything about him having saved his entire planet. Twice. "You know, I wouldn't say I'm either. I'm not superman, but I'm not a weakling either. Just your average peace loving stupid guy."
Hunter laughed sarcastically from behind him. "Peace? There is no peace for people like us."
"You know everyone keeps telling me that, and based on where I live I should know this, yet I still go for it," Kye sighed. "What is this quest I'm suppose to do?" he asked. It is so gonna be saving the world or something.
"Well…" She shot a look at Hunter.
"Well…?"
Lina sighed as Hunter gave her a warning look. "A long time ago, there were two powerful beings: Order, and Chaos. They were lovers, and very powerful. They disagreed, though, a lot. Finally, one time, Chaos wanted them to rule together. Order said no. They split up, and a few weeks later, Order vanished. Chaos has been getting stronger and going through his plan, so it is up to you to find Order and stop Chaos. We need balance."
"I knew it!" Kye threw his hands up in the air in exasperation. "It's saving the world again."
Hunter snorted. "At least you have someone to do it with you this time."
Lina turned to her, eyebrows raised.
"At least." Kye let his shoulders slump, as he looked at the ground. "People are so lucky that I much prefer peace, otherwise, we'd have been at war way to many times." And no one even knew that he'd saved the world more than once.
Hunter laughed bitterly. "Wow, you really have it hard, don't you?" She said sarcastically.
"No, I don't," Kye looked at her. "I have a tough time with somethings, and life get's annoying sometimes. But compared to some other people, I have a good life."
Lina gave a small smile. "You will be a good match for her," she told Kye. "Her fiery temper and your coolness."
Kye glanced at the woman, but didn't say anything about it. "Where do we need to start?"
Lina pointed to an image on the wall. It was of a large tree. "The last time Order was seen was there. Hunter will recognize it. I suggest you take it from there." With that, she vanished into the shadows. Hunter scowled in the direction she had gone. She had never liked the woman.
Kye gave a sigh, and looked at Hunter. "Shall we go then?" he asked, beginning to walk towards the exit.
Hunter followed, an annoyed look on her face. She walked over to the dragons and turned to face Kye, a scowl on her face.
"Just so you know, you shouldn't believe everything she says."
"I never believe everything anyone says," Kye reassured her. "I'm just like that unfortunately. I don't trust people."
She turned to the dragons, hiding her face. "Me too."
