"There are people who have a much better chip shot than me, I promise you," she pointed out, getting a few touches on the next ball before sending it whizzing in towards the cage. It hit the inside post perfectly.

"Maybe, but I'm not taking lessons from them, am I?"
"No. I've already told you, I'm not a pro…" She shot for the right sideboard and hit it.
"Coulda had me fooled." She muttered, dribbling the ball.
Reese sighed and set up to work on her drag flick.
(Lol)
"No, it's perfectly fine. You don't need to do anything," Max said quickly, still fiddling with his fingers.
“If you’re sure,” August responded. “Anyways, where were you rushing too? I have a free period, so I’m not really going anywhere.”
"I just wanted to get my homework done early," Max answered. "Also, where were you rushing?"
“To be honest, just somewhere to relax for an hour. Most likely a coffee shop, or to stop by Subway for a sandwich.” He shrugged. “I usually get all my homework done at 4 in the morning, aided by my trusty Red Bull.”
"I used to do that in High school," Max said with a slight laugh. "Caffeine was my best-friend during that time and it still is."
Reese sighed and set up to work on her drag flick.
A watched with avid interest, keen on learning as much as she could.
She took a deep breath, then began the steps. Her right foot went behind her left, then she started the ball on the shaft of her stick, rolled it to the toe, and flung it through the air. It passed just under the crossbar and into the net – the ideal shot placement.
(Just YouTube 'field hockey drag flicks' to see some if you want)
She grinned, starting to get why Reese loved the sport so much.
"I used to do that in High school," Max said with a slight laugh. "Caffeine was my best-friend during that time and it still is."
“Yeah.. At least you’re getting your homework done on time, though.” August said. “Once I had a 10 page essay due the next day, and I had barely started. I actually mixed coffee, Red Bull, and 5-hour Energy all into a single concoction. Needless to say, I threw up the next day.”
Max chuckled. "I have been tempted to do that many times but now I'm glad I didn't," He said with a slight laugh. "Also, I'm trying really hard to get my homework done on time, but I get distracted by practically everything so it doesn't help, at all."
She grinned, starting to get why Reese loved the sport so much.
Reese stared at her shot. "Oh, God… that was…"
"Pro?"
"No," she replied, going into the cage to retrieve the balls.
"Oof." Was all she said, miming a golfer's swing with the stick.
"Not like that," Reese said, running over to correct her swing.
She chuckled, but let the girl correct her without complaint, holding it right. "Like this, right?"
"Hands together at the top for a drive," she explained. "Swing starts here… and follows through to here. The toe of your stick should be pointing at your target when you're finished."
She held the stick like instructed and gave it a few loose swings to get the hang of the momentum, and then tried the move. "Not…quite what I was going for."
"It's okay, it isn't as easy as it looks. There's a lot of placements to have right before you can begin to work on other… side-branches of the move– is side-branches a word?"
"Uh, it is now?"
She giggled. "Cool!" She picked a ball up on her stick, bounced it twice, then hit it like a softball out of the air. It hit the crossbar with a PANG.
"Oh, mood." A didn't look up from the stick, still practicing the move.
