Hunter furrowed his eyebrows, bumping their foreheads lightly.
"Well," he murmured. "I'll scold you when we're alone."

Kenzie blushed a bit, grinning. This was probably going to be her favorite part of the night. Well, this or when they got home…
"Yeah?" she breathed.
"Mhm," Hunter nodded slowly, closing his eyes. "So prepare yourself."
"I'll be sure to do that," Kenzie murmured. "I love you Hunter…"
"I love you, too, Kenzie," Hunter smiled softly.
The music came to an end, but Kenzie didn't want to move. Being with Hunter was the best thing in the world to her. Plus, the next dance was the father-daughter dance…
"How angry would your dad be at me if I give you to him for the dance?" Hunter asked cheekily.
"I don't think he would mind if you handed me over to him for the dance, but he'd be pretty sad if I didn't dance with him," Kenzie said, looking up at him with a smile.
"I don't think in cruel enough to deny that dance," Hunter chuckled. "We'll have a lot of time to ourselves do don't be sad."
"I know," Kenzie said softly. John Baker made his way over, and the bride gave her groom one last kiss before she was pulled away for her next dance.
(The song, for our stalkers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrWMBC6yoME )
Hunter watched with a bright smile on his face as his bride began dancing with his father-in-law. He went and stood next to Leo. He couldn't wait for his own dance with Leo's mother. Remembering her reaction when he asked her to dance with him made him chuckle. Leo's mother was a tough, no-nonsense woman, but she always doted on Hunter, even before his mother died. When he asked her for the dance, she cried. The woman Hunter always knew as strong and tough, a woman who rarely shed a tear, cried when someone who wasn't even her own son asked her to dance with him on the mother-son dance. It made Hunter's eyes water, but he pinched his nose to keep himself from crying.
(Aw…)
Kenzie bit her lip as she danced with her father, hugging him tightly around his waist.
"My little girl is all grown up and married, now," John said, his voice sounding strained. "I can't believe how quickly time flew by…"
"Aw, daddy, stop… You're going to make me cry," Kenzie said, looking up at him with a wobbly smile.
"How are you feeling, man?" Hunter asked Leo with a knowing smile. His best friend cleared his throat.
"Nervous," Leo replied with a sigh. "I haven't told anybody except you. I don't know if it's the right step to take."
Hunter squeezed Leo's shoulder tightly.
"Do you want this, Leo?" Hunter asked his best friend. Leo nodded slowly.
"I do," he answered quietly. "I'm certain. Not because I have to, but because I want to."
"Then don't hold back," Hunter replied, nudging him on the shoulder. "It'll with out just fine."
Leo smiled tightly just as the song ended.
"I love you, McKenzie. And I hope you and Hunter are happy," John murmured, pulling his daughter into one last hug.
"I love you, too, daddy. Thank you," Kenzie whispered as she hugged him back tightly. She pressed a kiss to his cheek before letting him go and stepping back.
Hunter walked over to Leo's mother, who was glowing brighter than he had ever seen her. It made him smile, too.
Upon reaching Hunter, Ms. Carter engulfed Hunter in a tight hug.
"I can't believe you're married now," she murmured into the hug. "And you're so tall already… I'm so proud of you, Hunter…"
Hunter hugged her back just as tightly.
"That means a lot, Lindsey…"
"I think we should start the dance now," Ms. Carter said with a grin. Hunter grinned back and held out his hand.
"Thank you for being here," he whispered to her. "After mom died… You being there helped a lot."
Ms. Carter sniffled.
"Hunter, you're my best friend's son," she said quietly. "But I don't see you as just that. You're my son, too. Marisa would be proud of you. You've grown into a fine man."
"Great, what a wonderful choice of topic," Hunter grumbled as they started dancing. "You're going to make me cry…"
Ms. Carter laughed.
"It's only revenge!" she laughed. "Your bride… She's beautiful. I hope you both live a happy life together."
(Aw.)
Kenzie stood by Willow, who grinned at her excitedly.
"I can't believe my best friend is married," she whispered, practically bouncing on her toes.
Kenzie laughed. "Yeah, neither can I! It's just so surreal."
(AHA! IT WORKED!)
After their dance was over, Lindsey gave Hunter another kiss on the head.
"Remember that you always have us," she whispered softly. Hunter nodded, refusing to speak up because he knew his voice would crack. He loved this woman so much… He wasn't even related to her and she treated him like her own son. Giving him food, attending parent-child functions in place of his father even when she didn't have to… Hunter owed her a lot. The part that got to him the most was that she didn't even want anything in return.
So, keeping silent, Hunter only wrapped his arms around the his mother-figure, hiding his face in the crook of her neck.
"I love you," he whispered, his voice breaking.
"I love you, too, son," Lindsey whispered back. "Now go to your bride. She's waiting."
(Notebook is being such a pain in the tail…)
Kenzie and Willow had watched the rest of the dance in relative silence, the bride's eyes watering as she watched her new husband with the woman who seemed to have basically raised him after his own mother passed away. Once the dance was over, Kenzie set her glass of punch down on the table and waited for Hunter to come over to her. She couldn't wait to just be with him, even though she would be able to see him every day, now.
(So, I'm guessing I know what's happening at the bouquet toss… Should Kenzie actually throw it, or should she walk over and hand it to Willow – she'd be incredibly confused.)
(I just reread the first page, and, like, I'm cringing…
Not at your writing, just at my own… Like, ugh.)
(I miss Luna and Alyssa… 😢)

(Lol. Yours was actually pretty good, though!)
Hunter walked back to Kenzie, his eyes burning. He linked their fingers together silently. He couldn't wait to spend the rest of their lives together.
(She should throw the bouquet, but it should land in Willow's hands.)
