Zack shook his head and smiled, "Trust works both ways. Give and receive. Besides, our new friend seems so shakey they might knock that info out of themselves before they can use it."
He offered a hand, "Can you stand? You seem fine, physically. Just dazed and tired."
Sam knocked it away. "I am fine-" But then they immediately fell again to the ground, sighing in frustration.
“Let’s get you checked up,” Ruby said, fiddling with the edges of her cloak.
"Where is this place?" Sam asked, looking around. "Seems like some sort of school, or mansion…"
"Oh, the irony. I collapse in front of a hospital,"
"Ah. Of course," Sam stood up, less shakily this time. "I think a maj mugged me. Honestly. How embarrassing," Pressing two fingers to a long cut on their cheek, they closed their eyes and concentrated as the wound closed up. (Maj is slang for a clan member, No-Maj is a Muggle. And Sam knew that they had the power to heal the wound because every clan member is born knowing what their power is. They will never forget their ability. It's unprecedented.)
“So what clan are you from?”
"I… don't remember," Sam frowned, pressing their fingers to their temples. "It's weird. I know that my favorite color is amber and I prefer Earl Grey tea, but I don't even remember my own name,"
"Yes, extremely," Sam said sarcastically. "Want to interrogate me some more, cop?"
“Tsh.” Ruby said, shaking her head, “I’m leaving.”
"Good," Sam walked away as steadily as they could. "I'm heading to the library, see what clan I'm in," (the library's magic, it answers questions. If it answers a large question, it'll stop for like a week, but a small question would be for like a day.)
(Like per person or in general?)
(in general. and the library's unpredictable. once it took a month to answer 'what should i wear for homecoming' because that person spilled some butter on the book's page. the book is in the center of the library and the focus for its magic. you write your question down on the page… and you have to come back and check every once in a while to see if it's answered)
"Wait a minute," Zack said, staring off into space, "You don't remember your name, or your clan, but you remember slang and the library? That sounds like a curse."
And I feel like I remember a counter-curse, or something. Just not the name of it…. Or is it irreversible?
Zack looked at the strange kid, "Mind if I come with you? I'm just as confused as you are for an entirely different set of reasons."
"Great, now we're dealing with curses? Why are we trusting this person so easily? They could be tricking us to believe that they have amnesia, but they really don't." Aidan explained.
“Woah that’s dark. And possibly true.” Ruby said, she didn’t actually leave.
Sam rolled their eyes. "Please. If I did, I would have done a way better job than any of you would suspect,"
(I usually rp on my school laptop but we had to turn them back in today so now I have to rp on my phone. This means that I will most likely reply slower.)
Zack waved his hands and stepped next to the kid, "Hey, Aidan? Relax a little. Just because Emma ditched doesn't mean our buddy here is hostile."
To the kid, he whispered, "Don't mind him. We've all had a rough couple of days." Then, in a normal tone, "We should get going. I'm sure you remember where the library is, but just in case, I'll come with you."
Sam nodded curtly. "Thank you. Who's Emma? The name sounds familiar… probably just heard it around campus or something though,"
