She shrugged. "Probably not. But who cares? We're just actors. She only ever does it when it's just us and the only people we see are in the audience."
"I know that…" Alice mumbled quietly.
Arthur lays out on his hoop in the center of the ring and pulls it up towards the top of the tent, he inhales deeply, looking over at Cyrus then looking quickly away. And begins to sing.
"Unless, of course, you're me. I can't tell you how many times I've come up with excuses as to why I have so many scars on my back. Damn this costume." She tugged down the crop top subconsciously, covering the edges of scars that had started to show from her shirt riding up.
Cyrus listens to Arthur sing. It had always calmed him, no matter how many times he denied it. He relaxes, his breathing easing slowly.
Alice smiled slightly. "Do I have to perform tonight?" She asked, some people wanted the newbies to perform the first night and others didn't.
"I don't think so. I think she'll just let you sit back and watch. She did that with most of us." She rubbed her eyes. "Goddamnit, I got dust in my eye." She scrubbed it until she felt something drop. "Ah shit, there goes my contact." She looked up again, one eye still a bright dazzling green and the other a deep ruby red.
Alice nodded in understanding then glanced at Karma with one green eye and another a deep red. "Aaand you have heterochromia now." She stood up and looked around, trying to find her contact.
She chuckled softly. "I wish. That'd make for a so much more interesting act." She bent down, searching on the dirt floor for her missing color contact.
Alice also helped her search for her other contact. "If you want to have an interesting act, why not just not wear the contacts at all?" She asked curiously.
Silk sighed and moved off of her pole, walking away to a farther one. Clearly they hadn’t learned their lesson. Their chatter irritated her beyond measure. Karma was a f—ing complainer, Arthur a child, and Cyrus a wimp. They had a few lashings to be given, certainly.
"Because Mistress told me to. You know, red eyes are connected to demons and that would scare the kiddies which would lose money cause they would stop coming to the show and we can't be having that. I'd rather just wear them than deal with the whippings that come with disobeying."
"Oh okay then." She kept looking around for Karma's contact, not sure where it was at all.
"You know what, I have extras back at my tent, come on." She gestured for her to follow as she headed back to her room to grab another one.
"Okay then." She stood up and quietly followed her to her tent.
Rei climbed over to one of the pillars and slid down the metal structure. Once he was on the ground he sat down and stretched his legs, occupying himself. "What's wrong?" Rei asked Silk, having to raise his voice a bit as he looked over at her. He stopped what he was doing for a few moments, finally getting a good look at Silk's face. She looks pissed… He thought, slightly regretting his decision of trying to speak with her.
Arthur hangs off of his hoop by his legs, “Silk, must you hate everyone so?” He asks, “You don’t even attempt to hide it, we’re in this predicament together”
She flipped open the flaps, heading to a small vanity in the corner. "Take a seat, this shouldn't take long." She reached for a small package that held her normalcy.
Silk ignored Arthur and sighed at Rei. She spoke in a quiet voice, addressing him, “They’re all complaining, though it was they that got themselves in their mess. I hardly have a scar on me. Karma is just complaining and showing off, and I’m quite tired of it.”
Alice sat down in a chair and looked around. "Does everyone's tent look the same?"
Arthur sits back up and huffs, spinning around his hoop quietly, no longer singing.
"Pretty much." She ripped open the package and carefully put the contact in, blinking slowly to make sure it wouldn't fall out. "There we go, order has been restored to the world."
Rei gave a small nod, and leaned forward, his elbows touching the ground. "I think it's just best to try and ignore things that bother you. It's not like we can change much here." He said, the last part much quieter than the rest. "But then again I don't speak much with the others, or at all, so…"
Cyrus sighs. He often felt like an outsider, but that was his fault. He had trust issues ever since he could remember. Which wasn't that long ago.
Silk bent down so her back was nearly folded together so she could look up at him. “Right you are. Not talking to them is the best option… honestly I’m ready for them to run away. Mistress would be very happy. Their lashings take so much out of her. She might start asking me to do so. But baby, I’m not ashamed to admit I would be happy to…”
