"Ah, secrets." He let the last syllable come out as a hiss, casually wondering if it would frighten the other one. He smiled sadly. "It matters not young one. We all have our secrets we do not speak of. I shall let yours rest with you."
Etzli froze up at the hiss, eyes widening in terror. When she realized he didn't mean any harm she slowly relaxed a fraction. "Th-thank you…"
Edith watched the two go before making her exit as well.
She passed the library on her way to her bed chambers, amid Hugo and Gunther. She continued on her way, lost in thought. War had been waged and should she need some allies, she decided she wanted nothing but the best.
As long as they are as innocent as they say… She added in her mind. She held her suspicions, but she would not act on them until she had more proof of this murderer. She scaled the steps and followed a trail that was the same for each and every trip she had ever made to the Palace. Her bedchambers were always the same. Dark and alluring. A fire roared to the far right of the room, much to her satisfaction. Hugo and Gunther took their posts outside her door as she prepped for the night's event.
Whatever it beheld… She smiled. Tonight was bound to be more than anyone could expect.
He glanced at the manuscript she held. "What were you reading?"
Eztli held it up with trembling arms. It was heavy. "Old vampire traditions."
He narrowed his eyes at the book. "Do you know much of your own history?" he asked.
(- Try and refrain from one-liners if you can)
(Sorry!)
Eztli shook her head. "No. I'm only starting to read about us. I wasn't allowed to read books for a long time, so now that I finally can, I'm trying to catch up on what I'm supposed to know. I'm quite the joke in my family. They say I'm the "innocent child" even though I'm less innocent in experiences than most of them…." She sighed, and her eyes turned a dusky blue. "At least while I'm stuck here, I can read all these books!" She perked up, her eyes turning cobalt. "Though I wonder why my Aunt and Uncle brought me along?"
"You could probably get out more," Victor joked. He barely grinned, and it faded immediately. "I suppose I might partake in studies with you." He glanced at her. "If you would not mind. Since I do not know my heritage I have had none to teach me."
Etzli tilted her curiously. "Why with me? Most everyone tends to avoid me, but ever since I came here, I've already met two people. And I don't go out a lot. I haven't been out of the estate mansion in many years."
Dominik and Ames found the palace washrooms, where the former proceeded to throw large handfuls of cold water over his face.
"My lord," Ames mumbled. "I think it would be in your best interest to find at least one ally among the others. Even if you end up being allies with the murderer, it has its advantages."
"You're right, but to tell you the truth I don't really want to become an ally with any of them." Dominik turned to lean on the sink, staring at Ames. "I'm quite happy with the business relationship we have with each other. Perhaps, if one of them approaches me first, I will consider it. Until then, I'm fine with the ally I have right in front of me." he threw a wink at his young butler, causing the boy to flush and sigh heavily.
"You know, if anyone else saw this, they'd think something was going on."
Dominik simply grinned, shrugged, flicked a bit of water in Ames' face, and sauntered out into the hallway. "Time to explore!"
Etzli tilted her curiously. "Why with me? Most everyone tends to avoid me, but ever since I came here, I've already met two people. And I don't go out a lot. I haven't been out of the estate mansion in many years."
Victor smiled softly. "You are not the only one who is alone. I will be glad of your company." He left her side, brushing the spines of the books as he went, inhaling softly at their scent.
Etzli shrugged and watched Victor curiously. "Why are you here?" She stood up and stumbled with her book to a table, letting it down with a soft thump.
He shrugged. "It was boring where I was. I heard reports of trouble and thought I should check it out. I also thought I might run into-." He stopped suddenly. "Nevermind," he muttered. "I just hoped I might meet someone."
Cambria ended the call she had been on without saying goodbye to her brother on the other side. She felt a bit better knowing that her family would be safe in their manor for the time being, but with the King's erratic behavior who knew what would happen within the next week. I could be without a head. Cambria grimaced as she carefully rubbed her neck. Not the way she wanted to die.
Sighing, she turned to the wardrobe where she had stashed her clothing. She would need to look her best for the ball tonight. As the Heir to her family, she had a reputation to uphold.
Verrian slipped out of the library, scowling as he watched others enter and converse. If they needed to be in there, couldn't they at least be a bit quieter. The stake was, of course, close, stashed in his messenger bag that hung at his side. It held a plethora of books, vials, and now the stake that killed his mother.
He made his way up the long stairs hat winded themselves up into where his room perched, at the tallest tower. A bird's eye view, he had always thought. Now, it would be his view to watch the nobles that were all acused of murdering the queen.
Klaus caught eyes of a smaller vampire sneaking away, and the noble glanced up from his book to make sure it was not an illusion. He had come earlier to relax and unwind, already looking his best for the ball. He had run home to put on a nicer tux and slacks, covering it in a robe with his house symbol.
He shut the book and rose from his seat, setting it back into the shelf as he snuck after the vampire who thought he could be sneaky. Klaus followed them up and up, all the way to the very top.
"What are you doing here?" He finally spoke after a few moments in an accusatory tone.
"This is where my room resides, what I should ask is why you are in the Royal wing of the palace. Shouldn't you be in your guest room?" Verrian said, not blinking, which would be weird, if he weren't a vampire.
"In the topmost tower? Nevermind, then," He murmured more to himself, shaking his head a little. "I just saw you sneaking away. I didn't know the royal wing was up this way." He shook himself out a bit and sighed. "The royal wing is just down there, right?" He asked, pointing out of the windows and to a lit up one of one of the nobles' rooms.
(Low key think it's hilarious that so many vampires were hanging out in the library. You nerds. lol XD)
(Well it's not my fault my guy is a total bookie, he's just almost me.)
"This is a continuation of the Royal wing, and yes, all the way up here." Verrian sighed, looking back towards the other vampire.
