"Do you think he really will recover enough to walk?" he asked, having been unsure that would happen.
"Do you think he really will recover enough to walk?" he asked, having been unsure that would happen.
Errol hesitated. "I don't know. It depends on his leg and how well it heals. He'll never have the mobility of movement that he used to have, though."
Eclipse nodded, "I knew that, but given just the first of what they had to have done to it…." he sighed, "It'll be a near miracle."
Errol nodded. "Yeah." he agreed softly. "Which…that'll be hard for him. It really will." he shook his head a little.
Eclipse nodded glumly, sighing, "I still regret leaving him…." he said softly, "I should've stayed and fought….."
"Eclipse. Without you coming back, we might not have found either of you yet." Errol replied firmly. "Besides, hindsight is 20/20."
Eclipse sighed, "I know… I just…" he let out a long sigh, "I'm being just as bad as Nik…"
Errol let out a soft laugh. "You aren't bad. You're just feeling a bit guilty." he replied, shaking his head a little.
"Yeah…" he said softly, "But at least I have no way to blame myself for the whole mess… Nik keeps blaming himself for all of it…"
"Well…that makes sense. It isn't his fault, but he's going to see it that way. He's never quite been able to separate himself from the monster, at least mentally. He tends to take responsibility for whatever evil it wreaks." He replied quietly.
"I kno… but it hurts because I've literally seen how different and separate the two of them are!" he said softly, frustrated, upset, and angry with the world.
Errol shrugged a little. "Yes. And he knows that, but another part of him sees it as…" he frowned, thinking and trying to find the best way to explain. "The way he sees it, the monster is him, because it's his body. Even when the monster is dormant, he can still feel it in the back of his mind. Like…like an itch that won't go away, yes?" he rested his hand and stub on his knees, looking at the fire again. "They share memories and body, even if they are separate consciousness." a slight accent peeked through Errol's voice.
Eclipse nodded, still not entirely sure how to deal with everything. Nik's pain, and his guilt, running Tesh, dealing with near rebellion, dealing with the guilt of killing Nightfang, and leaving Nik, dealing with the fear of the monster Nik could become…… It was too much.
Errol sighed, and ran his hand through his brown hair. "It's…it is hard for him, Eclipse." he said quietly.
"I know…" he said softly, It's hard for me too…. he thought, Yet I have to be the strong one……
"It's hard on both of you, I know. But someday it'll work itself out." Errol canted his head to the side a little, watching Eclipse.
Eclipse nodded, "Hopefully you're right…" he said softly, "Anyways, I should head back to Nik before he wakes up…"
Errol nodded, and stood up. "Of course. If you need anything, you can come and find me."
Eclipse nodded, "Thank you.." he said, before getting up and heading back to the tent in which he'd leftNik.
"You're welcome." Errol replied easily. He was quiet.
Nik was curled up, asleep on the cot still.
Eclipse nodded back to him, before continuing his way to the tent. Finally finding his way back, he sighed softly as he realized Nik was still asleep.
Nik twitched and whimpered softly, shaking a little in his sleep.
Eclipse sighed, slipping onto the cot with him, pulling the other close to his chest.
Nik clung to him, shaking and letting out soft whimpers. "N-no…" He whispered, shaking harder. "Stop, please…"
"You're okay sweetheart, I got you…" he murmured softly, worried.
