Eira had been in her own little world for a little while but snapped out of it when Uriah grabbed her hand. She blinked before nodding, “Yeah. Yeah, good idea. The quicker we pack the quicker we can get Alex.”
Cyrus eventually left the training room with the backs of his hands throbbing and bright red. He gathered up some medical supplies, provisions, and tools and weapons as they were needed, then set out to find Eira.
Uriah pulled Eira down the halls and eventually let go of her hand. "Sorry, I'm just a bit overwhelmed." Although it was his idea and he was ready, he just wants to make sure nothing happens to Eira. He stopped walking and turned to look at her. "When we are on this mission you have to promise not to do anything on your own. Everyone would be devastated if something happened to you."
Eira couldn’t look him in the eye so instead, she looked down at the ground, “I… I can’t promise you that Uriah. They don’t need me here anymore so it doesn’t matter if I die or not.”
He sighed and bent down to see her face. "Of course they do, you are one of the founders of this place. And don't get me wrong I love Cy and he's my best friend, but without you he would have a hard time running this place by himself." Uriah smiled and stood back up. "They do want you here." He pulled her in for a hug.
Eira shook her head and somewhat hesitantly hugged Uriah back but she soon relaxed and gripped him tightly, “Cyrus has Sparrow a-and Luna and Alex soon. You’ll be around sometimes and there are others here too who can help him… I din’t matter Uriah. What’s one less face?”
"Eira stop." Uriah pulled away. "I'm not going to let someone who was so important to Zhavia die. Got it?" He grabbed her hand to comfort her. "I know we had a rough first meeting, but I care about you and I want to get to know you better. So if you won't do it for everyone else, at least don't die before I get to know the real Eira okay?" He took her down the hall to the room he was staying in. "I'll pack and then I'll come keep you company if you want."
Eira nodded, “Yeah, you can,” She gave his hand a small squeeze and tiny smile, “You get to packing then. I can’t either stay here while you do or… or go back to my room and you can meet me there, which either you want…”
Cyrus started back towards where he though Eira might be, but couldn't find her right away. He knew she probably hadn't gone far, maybe just down the hall.
"Eira?" he called. His voice had gone a little hoarse.
Eira turned her head to where she heard Cyrus’ voice, “C-Cyrus?” She called back, trying and failing to hide her stutter.
"Oh, there you are… I've packed some things. I'm coming with you, and I'm making sure no one dies," Cyrus said with more confidence than he actually felt.
Eira shook her head, “No, Cyrus. You need to stay here and look after everything while Uriah and I are gone.”
"Cy, you dont need to come, I'll make sure neither of us die." Uriah didn't want both the bosses to come. Who would run the place? Uriah finished his packing. He was better with a sword but decided to take Zhavia's daggers with him, even though he had moved on he didn't want to forget.
"Uriah has other work to do… If he died, there would be no one else to fulfill it. Besides, his inexperience worries me a little too…" Cyrus explained, "I honestly think I'm the best candidate given the circumstances. Besides, Eira practically ran the place by herself for several weeks at one point. You only need her."
Eira again, just shook her head, “No. They only need you,” She pointed to Cyrus, “I’m no leader and Soarriw needs you Cyrus. No one needs me so if I die it’s easy for someone to fill my place. Sparrow or Luna could do it easily.”
"Alright Cy," Uriah turned towards him and crossed his arms. "I already have someone to take over in case something happens to me. And I may not be as experienced as you assassins, but I worked my ass off this past year to catch up with you all. Don't underestimate me." Uriah didn't like how everyone was so far ahead, but since he was young he had trained with a sword and was decent. "You're my bestfriend , but Sparrow trained me hard and I think I'm ready."
Cyrus laughed softly. "You really have forgotten, haven't you?"
He crossed his arms in front of him.
"This place would not have gotten off the ground without you, and it would not have made it far, even had we managed to get it going."
(Luna? Lead? Starts dying of laughter in the background as my character glares me down)
“I’m sure it would have,” Eira replied, rubbing at her arm with a small sigh, “Thisnlkace would run fine without me.”
Uriah ran a hand through his hair. All this was getting tiring. "I'm going to get some air, come get me when you figure things out." He walked out without another word. He didn't know exactly where he was going but hoped he would find a door that led outside. It was about 20 minutes before he saw the front door and opened it. It opened half way then stopped. When he looked to see what it was he saw a body. "Hello? Hey you okay?" He bent down hoping this person was alive.
"Yup, with their leader just lying in bed for three weeks straight and doing nothing for the cause because he couldn't get over his dead friends. You've pulled more than your own weight, and I've been more of a burden to the cause than I ever should've been. I'm making this up. I have a better grasp on how the guild is set up than Uriah. He's never even been there."
Cyrus wasn't sure how much longer his argument would hold up.
(laughs in a corner this is gold)
“So? I’m sure he could help if we showed him the maps for the place.” Eira crossed her arms, “And you were grieving, we all deal with it differently and I deal with it by gushing myself and not evening thinking about them. At least you were.”
Alex was breathing but his breath was shaky with pain. his eyes sleepily opened "U…ri…ah?"
"Shutting down entirely is not an appropriate response, but okay…" Cyrus muttered, "Now, where'd Uriah go?"
