Avie continued to look around for a moment, but couldn't find Freya anywhere. She turned back to the crevasse, realizing it was about human sized and considered the possibility that Freya had fallen in. It didn't seem likely, but Avie didn't know where else Freya could be and edged over to the fissure, looking down into it. There didn't seem to be any bodies in it, at least from what Avie could tell, only a faint light radiating in the darkness. She was tempted to jump down and see what it was, but remembered she didn't know where Freya was.
"Freya!" Avie called out as loud as she could, casting another look around the parking lot.
The fissure seemed to call to her as Freya shifted close and closer. She was almost at the edge when Avie's voice cut through the silence. Shaking her head, Freya looked around and called out for her new friend. "I'm here! Where are you?"
Avie sighed with relief at the sound of Freya's voice. "I'm by the edge of the fissure! In the middle of the parking lot! Where are you?" She turned towards the direction of the sound of Freya's voice, once again searching for her.
Freya looked around and finally saw her a short.distqnce from.where she was. "I can see you, I'm coming there!" She called out and slowly started walking towards her.
Avie caught sight of Freya moving towards her, and also started walking to close the distance. "Are you okay? Do you have any injuries?" She squinted at Freya's figure, trying to see if she looked all right, but had trouble because of the darkness.
"I'm fine, a little traumatized, but otherwise ok." She glanced at the fissure and squinted. "I kinda want to see what's in there. What about you?" She asked
Avie nodded enthusiastically. "I was thinking the exact same thing." She peered over the edge to the bottom of the fissure. "It doesn't seem like too bad of a drop, and it won't be too hard to climb back up."
"Shall we?" She asked, already walking towards the shallow portion of the crack.
Avie nodded, then jumped forwards into the chasm. She landed on her feet with little trouble, only needing a moment to steady herself. She then looked towards the source of the light, realizing it wasn't like anything she'd ever seen before. It didn't seem to be any kind of fire or electrical light, or any kind of luminescent plant or animal. It was simply a glowing orb of light that somehow drew Avie's attention.
Freya saw the orb and reached out to touch it, unsure as to why, but knowing that it was important that she touch it.
Avie did the same. She froze as the orb started to glow even brighter, beginning to consume the both of them with light.
(Before I respond, what type of powers will they get? Will they be here after the light consumes them of will it be one of those things where they wake up in their beds thinking it was a dream? And how will this proceed? Will it end up being a superhero type thing, will there be officials after them to learn about their powers, will they be contacted by someone about going to an academy to control their powers?)
(I was thinking maybe they have the ability to shape the world around them, kind of like telekinesis, but it's very easy to go out of control when they use it. Maybe the light fades away and they don't see any differences so they just go back home, or we could go with the waking up from a dream idea. I kind of imagine them being the only people to have the powers, or at least the only ones they know about for a while, so then they have to learn how to use the powers on their own)
(I think Freya will use her abilities in the bakery too often and get caught by someone)
Freya touched the orb and squeaked when it seemed to grow and glow brighter. She felt the light envelope her and felt a bit warm. Her hands and feet felt tingly but that was about it. A few seconds later, she was standing on solid concrete, looking at her building.
Avie took a moment to look around and process what had just happened. She looked over her hands, trying to see if anything had changed. There didn't seem to be anything different, at least not that she could tell. She then realized Freya was beside her, and turned to her. "Did that just happen?"
Freya opened her mouth to speak but a yawn escaped instead. "My apologies," her face flushed and she looked away. "I think so, I don't know what all that was. But its fairly late. If you would like, we could discuss this over a cup of tea tomorrow?"
"Yeah, that sounds good." Avie looked back towards the direction of her apartment, realizing how tired she was beginning to get. "I have the day off tomorrow, so I'll be able to visit your bakery then."
"I can close up early and send Lizzie home so this works out great." Freya rotated her wrist and smiled. "See you then, I suppose."
"Good night! See you tomorrow." Avie waved goodbye, then started back towards her home, trying to walk quickly before it was too dark.
(Mind if I timeskip to the morning)
Charlie whined and pushed Freya. She groaned and opened her eyes to be met with kisses from the pup. "Charlie get off!" She laughed, pushing him. He barked and jumped off, whining at her. She laughed and went into the bathroom.
Once she finished her morning routine and fixed her bed, Freya went into the kitchen to make her breakfast and give Charlie his food. She realized that she was meeting someone for tea soon so she decided on a simple meal of toast and butter. She washed her dishes and went back to get dressed. Freya emerged from.her room wearing a cute outfit consisting of a black floral dress, black leather jacket, a pair of matte ankle boots, a pair of sunglasses, a bracelet with an anchor charm, and a simple necklace. She put on some simple makeup with some dramatic eyeliner and she was ready.
The door opened into an empty hallway as charlie ran towards the elevator. Freya laughed and locked the door before chasing after him. A short ride later they were on the main level, walking outside into the sunny weather. Freya took Charlie to the bakery to act as a distraction while she told Lizzie that she couldn't be able to work today.
Lizzie was upset but left anyways. That was when Freya stayed making a batch of cookies and some brownies.
The moment the sun woke Avie up, she buried her head deeper into her pillows and blankets and tried to go back to sleep. She hadn't heard her alarm yet, which meant that she didn't have to get up for another several hours.
She sat there for a few moments, then realized she was meeting up with Freya. Groaning, she rolled out of bed and started to get ready. She scavenged through her mess of kitchen and was able to find a bowl of cereal as a quick breakfast. She then took a shower and threw on some clean clothes, at least trying to find a pair of jeans and a shirt that looked nice to go out in. She was too groggy to put a lot of effort into her presentation, but at least tried to comb her hair and wash her face better than she did for work.
Avie then set outside, trying to let the noonday sun wake her up. She spent a bit walking around looking for The Hex, but got lost and eventually wound up looking for directions on her phone. After about half an hour she was finally able to find the bakery, opening up the door. Immediately, she was reinvigorated by the scent of pastries and something baking, and she began to look around at all of the goods for sale.
The bell alerted the people indoors that someone had come. A few people were there, some sampling the displayed samples, others waiting for take-out orders. Freya came out with a tray fitted with black paper bags. She called out names and order numbers and slowly but smoothly, people were grabbing their bags and leaving.
Freya went back in the kitchen to wash her hands and take off her apron before coming back around to flip the sign to closed and coming to Avie. "Welcome to my little shop!" She said in an overly exaggerated French accent. "I made these pastries and things when I came in this morning so they are all fresh. What would you like to drink?" She asked presenting a drink menu
"A coffee would be good, I've been having trouble waking up this morning," Avie said. She started to look around the shop. "You have a really lovely place here. The pastries smell so good." Avie paused, beginning to realize how hungry she was as she examined the baked goods. "Do you mind if I take one yet?"
