(yeah, also they can be very expensive haha)
The lights started to flicker above her. Some people let out cheers and started to gather their things and get back to their routine. Clove had been down there for long enough and started to make her way back to the train station. When she was back on the train her eyelids began to droop and soon enough she had dozed off…
She was awakened by a screech. The train had arrived back to the kingdom. Clove raced up the steps and made her way back to the main room. She had been there longer than she had thought. It was late up here. She asked a maid to bring her dinner up to her bedroom. She had a lot on her mind. A lot to think about. The more she thought of the blackout the less it made sense. They had never had a blackout before. Her mind was all over the place, so she was going to run a bath. She waited for the water to warm and stripped off her clothes and plopped right in. At that moment she heard a knock on her window…
(wait so what time of day is it)
( maybe like 4/6 p.m? it doesn't really matter to me, so whatever you want to do.)
(Okii)
"It's getting late, Ayla," Tyler noticed. The sun had already set, and it was quite dark outside by now. "You should go to bed."
Ayla protested, "But I want to stay up with you! We never spend time together anymore because of your work!"
Tyler sighed. "Alright, but only one hour, okay?"
"Okay!" Ayla chirped, happy that Tyler had given in. But she knew that was only because she was right.
Clove was on edge… she was debating on opening her window. Who was waiting for her? The mystery person knocked again. Clove got out of the tub and put on a robe. She could hear her heart beating loudly as if it was going to burst out of her chest. She slowly opened her curtains and peeked outside. The knocking had grown more intense. Clove gave in and opened her window. The figure was wearing a cloak that hid his features. The person slipped through the window and took off her cloak.
" Matthias? " Clove asked wearily.
" The one and only," he replied. Clove wrapped her arms around him.
Cloves eyes got wide, " You can't be here. What if someone sees you? You're supposed to be dead you know."
Before sending him to the other city Clove made up a story that her older brother died on a trip to the western part of the Kingdom.
" I was wearing a cloak and it's night outside, so I am fine," Matthias replied running his fingers through his shoulder-lengthed hair.
" You need to leave, Matthias. This was a pleasant surprise, but you need to leave this instant. I love you, but you are not risking your confidentiality on this." Clove begged him.
"So what did you want to do?" Tyler asked, sitting down on the couch with a small sigh.
Ayla sat down next to him, laying her head on his lap. "Can we just stay like this for awhile?" she asked, looking up at him.
Tyler gave her a small smile, stroking her soft hair. "Of course. It's always nice to cuddle together." His friends had always joked around that they were dating, since they certainly acted very similar like two people dating, but they never kissed, at least not romantically. They used to cuddle a lot, especially when they had free time, and Tyler didn't mind the joking of his friends. He loved his sister, he really did, but there was never enough time in the day to be together anymore.
Matthias looked hurt. Clove hadn't meant to be so harsh. She really did love her brother it was just that he was risking the whole underground city. Clove wrapped her arms around him and cried softly. He pulled her closer to his chest and ran his fingers through her hair. "I'm so sorry- I hadn't meant to be so rude. I do truly want to see you." Clove said to him as she buried his head into his chest. "Shhh, it's ok, Clo," Matthias replied kissing her forehead. Before Clove had become queen her and Matthias had been as thick as thieves. They would never leave each other's side and were always getting into some type of trouble. Clove's sobs softened and Matthias walked her to her bed. Matthias sat across from her in an armchair. Before long Clove drifted off to sleep and Matthias took his leave.
(are we just going to do the whole "two stories" thing until the men clove ordered come to pick ayla and tyler up or something?)
(whatever works best for the storyline, it doesn't matter that much to me)
(alright then)
"So, how was your day then?" Tyler asked, his voice significantly softer than it was before, now that he had relaxed completely.
"Mostly uneventful, besides you know what," Ayla replied, her voice even quieter than her brother's. "How about you? How was work?"
Clove was in a deep sleep and actually felt a sense of calm. Matthias had eased her mind a little, but before long her sleep became restless. She tossed and turned until she fell into a dream…
Here she was again back in the courtyard, her heart beating as if it was going to beat out of her chest. In her bare feet, she ran to the gardens. She slid behind a tall, old statue which had begun to look as if it had been there a thousand years. She put her hands over her mouth to hopefully keep the sound of her breathing quieter. She dared to look to the side to see if someone was there. She could hear footsteps in the gravel and shut her eyes. She decided to run. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. Of course, Matthias was older and could catch up to her quite easily considering that she was only ten at the time and he was fifteen. Clove ran up the palace steps and to the kitchen. She could tell the palace staff was a bit frustrated with their running around. The cook decided to help Clove hide from him. He told Clove to lay under the table as he covered her with flour bags. Matthias walked into the kitchen and quite easily found her. She screamed…
Clove sat straight up in her bed as her breath began to slow. Clove missed that… when she was actually carefree and didn't know what was to come.
