name: ayla young
gender: female
age: 15
appearance: https://pin.it/5iz6khbh73iyze; she'll usually be wearing something like this: https://pin.it/ufnro2j7rdmryg
likes: music, especially her violin and flute, violin being her secondary instrument. she loves playing around, though she can be just as easily serious as she can be playful.
dislikes: ignorance, differing opinions, being restricted
personality: ayla is a thoughtful person, and unlike many of her classmates in school, her best class has always been english, though sometimes she has trouble condensing all she has to say into less than five pages. she strongly believes that if her people should be ruled by a queen, then the queen better not be a tyrant.
background: she comes from a middle-class family, though she's never known her parents. her brother, tyler (who is ten years older) told her that the queen had had them killed on charges of treason, though he would never tell her what kind of treason. ever since then, she's possessed a hatred against the queen, but she's never really had any true reason to hate her until recently, as the queen had recently passed a law that said that everyone would be taxed twice as heavy. she and her brother were barely struggling to live as it was, and heavier taxing would essentially render them homeless. one day, she left home with a couple of belongings and set out to go talk to the queen.

(hi! i'm glad you're interested in this! i may not be the owner, but the title says that this is a one on one rp. now, if you don't know what that means, totally fine! it just means that the owner wanted an rp with only one other person. however, if you're still up for it, i'd be happy to start yet another rp with you! in a separate thread, or in the pms, it doesn't matter!)
(sorry i responded to this so late!)

ok! should we just jump right in?
(okkk)
Laughter. Clove was only a small child. She was running through the courtyard. Her hair whipped her neck as she ran past the hedges. Clove's face flushed and the cool ground nipped her bare feet. She pushed her wispy hair just as someone wrapped their arms around her. It startled her. Her mother's perfume surrounded her. Clove hugged her.
Clove woke with a start. Her dreams of her mother haunt her. "It was just a dream, nothing more but a little dream," Cove thought to herself. She opened her curtains to her balcony door. Clove took her hair down. She stepped on her cool balcony tile and breathed deeply, taking in the aromas around her. She went back indoors and started to comb through her hair. She dropped her brush when someone knocked on her door…
Ayla tossed back her hair, her eyes flashing with anger. She hated that she had to do this. She hated the queen, she hated the queen's rule, and most of all, she hated that her very parents had to be executed – for "treason." Her mind flashed back to her most recent memory of her brother, Tyler. They had been in the house, laughing and enjoying themselves as they munched on some bread. But the scene wasn't what she focused on. She zoomed in on his face, holding that in mind for a couple of seconds, before coming back to the real world. She was doing this for him. For them. It simply wasn't fair that they were barely living as it was. Tyler was working practically all day now, bouncing in-between three different jobs, and she didn't know how he managed it. She was very lucky that she didn't have a job yet. But Ayla would make this all better. All she had to do now was face the queen. Soon, she found herself in front of the queen's door, and she hesitated, tentatively raising a hand, and then knocking on the door. She stilled her face, and washed away all traces of emotion from it, effectively becoming a "robot," as her brother called it when she did this.
Clove picked up her brush that had fell and carefully set in on her vanity. "One minute!" Clove responded trying to look somewhat presentable. Who could it be? It was only 11:00 in the morning. She quickly changed out of her nightgown and put on a summer dress. She opened the door and there was standing a girl around her age. She did not recognize her but there is a lot of palace staff so it might be someone new. She was a bit frustrated that someone was interrupting her morning. The girl standing in front of her was a bit shorter than Clove. The person standing in front of her kept a blank face as if she had no emotions at all. "can I help you?" Cove asked.
Ayla had to bite down on her lower lip quite forcefully to keep herself from bursting out in anger, "Hah, as if you would." Instead, she forced herself to say politely, "Yes, you can. Could we go somewhere to talk in private?" How dare the queen act this innocent. She killed my parents, and she taxed us even heavier, not that she would need all that money anyways. How dare she, Ayla thought, rage coursing through her veins, and she had to consciously remember not to show any emotion.
Clove began to worry a bit. "There is nothing to worry about, you are the queen after all. They answer to you." Clove thought to herself. "Of course, I will have a maid escort you to the library. I will be there shortly." Clove responded to the girl. She asked for a maid and shut the door. She had a million things to do today, but I suppose that it will all have to wait. She put her wavy blonde hair into a low ponytail and slipped on a pair of flats. Surely it's nothing, but Clove's brain was buzzing with ideas about what this "meeting" will entail. Clove slowly strolled down the stairs as she was still deep in thought. No citizen of the kingdom has asked to meet with her personally. She had to keep a level voice and think carefully through her words. Clove cleared her throat as seh opened the library doors…
Ayla followed the maid to the library, though she unconsciously clenched her fists in rage, only noticing the action when she felt a sharp pinch. Looking down, she realized that she'd dug her fingernails in so hard that she'd accidentally drawn blood from the palm of her left hand. Slowly, she uncurled her fingers. Ayla looked up when she heard a noise, and saw the queen walking through the doors. "Your Majesty, thank you very much for meeting me here." Though her words were very polite, she was just barely managing to make her tone as steady as possible. Keep your cool until you get straight to the point. Keep your cool until you get straight to the point. Keep your cool until you get straight to the point, she repeated to herself inside her head.
Clove smiled at the girl in front of her. She sat down in a roomy armchair across from her. Clove whispered to a maid to bring in some tea and coffee. She put her hands in her lap and looked at the girl in front of her. Clove searched her face for something… anything. Her eyes glistened with something but she couldn't tell what. Just as quickly as she had left the maid entered the room and placed the tray on the small coffee table. Clove took the steaming cup of coffee and dismissed the maid. This distracted her from the girl. She added a couple of sugar cubes and stirred the warm glass. She blew on her cup and took a slow sip. " You're welcome to have some coffee or tea, " Clove said to the girl. "Now that we are in private what do you wish to say?" Cove said. Her stomach had butterflies in them, worried what the girl might say to her.
Ayla took a deep breath. "You," she started, her voice edged with the tiniest hint of anger. "You were never my queen. Never. Kill me if you must, but I shall not bow to a queen who wears a crown studded with jewels. Now, have I caught you attention?" she continued, rage filling her small body, her voice dangerously low now. She was dead serious. "You took my parents. You took them, and you charged them with treason. But what treason? They never did anything wrong. Mom worked at a bakery, and she worked long hours. Long hours to support our family. Dad was a guard of yours. He stood proudly with your army, and they both believed in you. They believed that you would protect them. You charged them with treason, and you murdered them. Then, you decided to raise our taxes. Tyler and I are barely living as it is. I'm not even done with school yet, and still he works three jobs, from three every morning 'till nine at night. And still, we barely survive. No longer do we wash our clothes, for fear we cannot pay our rents. No longer do we sit around and talk about our days. No longer do we see each other. He gets home past when I go to bed, he wakes up before I wake up. And you- You took what little freedom we had left away from us. Besides that, it's not like you need all that money anyways, you're a queen."
Clove smiled to herself. She liked the girl, she has guts. In her mind Clove debated something; should she tell her? On one hand, she thought, " She is a complete stranger. Why would you tell her? She could ruin it." but she also thought, " I like her. She could be a good member." Clove decided that she would tell her. She made sure no one was listening in on their conversation and started to tell her her plan. "Your parents aren't dead. Actually, your parents did not commit a crime at all. They are very wonderful people. You look a lot like your father. They are part of my rebellion. Why do you think that I started to tax all of my citizens? I'm hoping someone who has sanity will force me to step down. I didn't want to rule in the first place yet, here I am. You're welcome to be apart of it all if you wish. You and your brother are welcome to stay with me for the time being. I can show you your parents you can help me get everyone out of this place. We call ourselves The Society."
"Lies," Ayla hissed. "I'd rather stay out there, barely living than stay here. Anywhere would be better than here." Her eyes flashed with anger. "Besides that, your plan is terrible. Sacrificing our quality of life just for what you want. You're supposed to protect us. Instead, all you do is manipulate us, like we're your little puppets," she added, refusing to believe anything the queen said in protest.
Her response was surprising to Clove. Now, Clove was angry. She was doing her a favor. Apparently the girl wanted to get trapped in the kingdom when it was falling to ruins. That was fine with her. She didn't need any more problems unraveling before the rebellion even commenced. Still, even though rage consumed her Clove managed to keep a steady voice, " Fine. You can leave. Do you want to rebel against me? Do it! I dare you. You may not bow to a queen who wears a jeweled crown but how will you feel when the kingdom falls apart and you all get conquered by the north? I'm sure you will prefer my rule over theirs. I will have one of my guards show you out." Clove thought that this meeting was a waste of her time. She could have been preparing to evacuate her citizens then listening to this foolish girl. Clove walked out of the library and proceed to go down the basement steps. There waited a small train."Ah, how lovely to see you, Ana!" said Clove sitting down on the train bench. Ana was the train conductor and their military general. Her Irish accent always calmed Clove. " This kingdom will fall and the fools will Parrish." Clove said aloud as the train whisked them away to their destination.
"Fool," Ayla muttered to herself afterwords. All the queen had done so far was ruin her life. First her parents, and now her brother. She wouldn't be surprised if her brother got sick soon. It was common nowadays that the overworked commonly fell sick. This sickness that infected them had be nicknamed the Working Disease, or at least in the town where she lived. Soon though, Ayla left the library, furious at the queen. She was so high up on her horse, wasn't she?
Once Clove had arrived she finally felt herself let out a sigh. She finally felt at home. Clove waved to a few of the townspeople and smiled at a few kids. Here, she was able to get away from what's happening above her. Clove finally arrived at the building she was looking for. The one with the glass door. "Hello everyone. So sorry that I am late. There was a bit of trouble up there. Let the meeting start." Clove said as she sat down at the head of the long, silver table. She went to meet with the officials of The Society. This included her generals, governor, and trusted companions. "Is there anything you want to add, Clove?" Ana asked. "Yes, actually. I need someone to kidnap some people for me. I know that sounds unusual. But, I need a brother and sister taken here immediately. "
(I swear I've never done so much research before for an rp – and it was all just so I could find a flute. In the end, I decided on this for the flute ayla owns and i'm not even going to learn the flute lol it's just cause ayla plays it. oh and also her violin's pegbox looks like this from the back and the rest is just regular except with a gold e string so basically this but with a gold e string)
"I should go get a job too," Ayla muttered to herself as she was escorted out of the castle. As she started the long trek home, she sighed. She just wanted to pick up her flute, her beautiful, beautiful flute. She ached to run through scales, and just to hear the beautiful tone it produced.
(oh my gosh they are all so pretty!)
Clove's mind was still on the girl. She reminded her of someone, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Once the meeting had ended she decided to walk around the small, underground town. She and her townspeople had put in a lot of work to design the place. From the cobblestone streets to what color the doorknobs were to be. She is very proud of her community's dedication. But, she was even happier that no one here compares her to her mother. Up there everyone says, "Your mother would have known what to do." or " Your mother could fix it." It drove Clove insane. She knew that she was nothing like her mother. But, had her mother created this? No, she hadn't so everyone can close their mouths. Without realizing she had stopped in front of her house there. She hadn't actually been able to stay there because of her duties in the kingdom. Clove decided to look inside. Nothing had been touched. Her home was tiny. It was more of a cottage actually. She was startled when she heard screams outside…
(I know right? I lowkey wish I could be the proud owner of them aha)
When Ayla finally arrived home, a little bit after dark, she arrived to find her brother inside. "Tyler!" she exclaimed, surprised. Usually he didn't get back until much later. "Why are you back so early?"
Tyler had been making some more bread in the small, low tech oven, and he turned around. "Ayla!" he stopped what he was doing and ran over to give her a big hug. Then he released her, his face stern. "Where the hell were you?"
Ayla gave him a sheepish grin. "I, uh, tried to make things better for us?" She sighed, and added, "I'm sorry, Ty…"
( if i could play any instruments i'm pretty sure that i would own something like that. i would be pretty freakin proud of them too lol)
The lights in her cottage turned off. Clove's heart began to race. Were they being ambushed? Why had the power shut off? Clove took a deep breath and felt around her wall for the door. Once she had made it outside she ordered everyone to stay where they were. As far as she could tell this was just a simple power outage. Her breath began to slow and her shoulders were no longer tense. "I need everyone to stay calm, please. This is just a minor power outage and we should be up and running within a few moments. If anyone has any matches and candles please pass them to the people around you." Clove said to those that could hear her. She was soon met by Milo and Wren, her engineers. "What is happening? Did something happen to the power source?" Clove asked in an anxious voice. " The generator stopped working. We are working on it now. But, in the meantime, we should move everyone to the library. It should be fixed in about an hour tops." Wren said and Milo nodded. Clove nodded and turned back to her citizens. 'Alright everybody, I want everyone to light any candles and make your way to the library. You can get back to your day within the hour. " she said and guided a few people to the library. The library was the largest building and had the biggest carrying capacity. Their community was only around 1000 people and with the library being four stories it was the perfect size for them all. "Ana, you know that girl that I told you about- the one I had the meeting with earlier today? Did you find out her and her brother's names?" Clove asked. "Yes, Ayla and Tyler I believe. Don't their parents live here?" Ana replied leaning on a bookcase. "Yeah, they're part of the first group of people I brought here. Could you have some guys bring Ayla and Tyler here?"
(If I could own anything like that, I would be pretty proud of them too. Unfortunately, finding instruments that are high quality and look cool.)
"Oh Ay… we'll be okay. As long as we stay together, everything will be okay," Tyler pulled her in for another hug.
Ayla sighed. "I know… I just- I want to make things better, you know?" she pulled away, and looked up at Tyler. "You work so hard already, I- I barely see you anymore…"
"I know… I"m doing my best, I really am. I just want to make sure that you grow up okay. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine," Tyler sighed as well.
