Derek sighed and looked at Kaisly, "you look amazing, as always"

Kaisly smiled softly " thank you.." he mumbled softly.
Kaisly walked over to Derek and hugged him " it was never you're fault, don't you for a second blame yourself.." he said sternly but softly
Kaisly let go and looked up at Derek " you are a great knight. The best even"

Derek blushed slightly, not sure how to react.

Kaisly smiled, walking away as he went downstairs for her party

Derek straightened his clothes quickly and followed Kaisly.

Kaisly mostly walked in silence, his head running with thoughts all over the place

Derek watched Kaisley closely with silent concern for the prince.

“D.. I’ll be fine, it’s a party, enjoy yourself, “ he said softly, his fingers hesitantly lacing with Derek’s. “ I promise I’ll be okay,”

Derek looked at their hands, holding Kaisley's a bit tighter. "Its not in my job description to enjoy myself"

“ I wasn’t asking you as a knight either, shed your armor for tonight, so I may dance with you,” he said softly, “ only if you agree to,”
Kaisly's cheeks turned a soft shade of red, his eyes darting toward the ground, “ it is the last dance I'll have before I become king in the spring next year, and I wish not to dance it with anyone else than you, the sun who lights up my world..” he said in a voice just barely above a whisper. He didn't want this conversation to echo on the walls, and give the maids something to gossip about. “ father said I should find someone to lay with by the end of this ball.. But I already knew who I wanted to before it begun.. It's only a matter of if you'll have me.” he paused for a moment “ and I do not want you thinking of me as the Prince in you're decision. Right now I am like anyone else. No one of importance. No is an option..” he said softly

Derek listened quietly, "even if you were of the lowest social status, you will always be important to me. Even as a king I will still see you as my kind prince." He smiled softly, "I would be honored to dance with you my kind prince."

Kaisly smiled happily. His smile more brighter than it has been since the war started. “ they come on! What are we waiting for!” he said softly

Derek smiled back, his happiness reflecting that of the prince. "Lead the way"

The prince ran to the ball happily, twirling with the knight

Then knight allowed himself to have fun at the ball, possibly for the first time in his life.

The Prince took the knight onto the dance floor “ are you going to lead me?”

"As you wish", Derek moved and started to lead the prince in a dance.

The prince kept his body close to the knights, laying his head gently on the others chest. “ I have wanted to tell you that for so long,” he mumbled “ to ask you to be with me, “

The knight smiled softly, holding the prince a bit closer as they danced. "It was a big risk if I had taken the first move. I had thought about it, a lot."

(Finally feeling up to replying.) “ you should have, a big night asking a prince like me to dance is quite romantic “

"And if you had said no? I could have lost my position, I wouldn't be able to protect you anymore"

“ you are quite right, but I think sometimes if the signs are shown, a leap of faith could do more good than harm. But I guess I've always been taught how to read a room,” he said, Lying his head on the knights shoulder, tucking his head gently to hide in the lower part of his neck.
