(Im sorry, that sucks)
Derek spurred his horse forward, easily defeating the person who attacked the prince, not thinking of sparring him to get answers, as he was blinded by anger. He ran back to the prince, falling to his knees beside the other.

(oh uh hello, umm, that'll be up to my partner, )
Kaisly gave a soft whine, his eyes darting around for the attacker or his partner, he winced as his shoulder started to feel the burn of the arrow, " Derek!" he called, not realizing the knight was next to him
( @The_Br0ken_monster um maybe? How would it work, I mean, im cool with it if you can figure out a way to make it work)
Derek placed his hand on the prince's good shoulder, "I am right here, don't worry" he stood, picking the prince up bridal style, careful with the injury, figuring it would be better to let someone who knew what they were doing remove the arrow. He placed the prince on his horse before getting on it behind him.
( I mean, they could introduce a male character to fight for the love of the prince, like an assassin maybe?)
Kaisly winced, " Derek it hurts.." he mumbled
"I know, I know it does, but It'll be better soon" Derek assured the prince, getting the horse to run back to the castle quickly and straight to a healer. He jumped off of the horse and took Kaisly into his arms again when he got to the healers.
Kaisly winced, crying out in pain as his shoulder was jostled around.
Soon before long the king had arrived "How was my son hurt?!" his deep voice rumbled the floors
Derek bowed his head to the king, "sir, we went for a ride this morning and were attacked. I killed the attacker and rushed the prince here"
The King scowled before storming off to his sons side
Derek closed his eyes, he knew it was his fault, he was supposed to be protecting the prince and he failed.
(happy thanksgiving!)
Soon the prince was taken care of, stitches, and fumed words with his father only making the air thicker.
Kaisly had been up and walking rather quickly. He grabbed his knight's hand and stormed off into the castle. He was angry, but not at his knight, more at his father for the harsh words he said to Derek for something he couldn't control at the time.
Derek let the prince pull him along, to lost in his own self loathing to care where they went.
The prince shut himself in his room, sliding his back down the door. " when did this war make us different.. I wish I had a distraction, maybe even an escape"
Derek didn't look at the prince, "I'm sorry… you got hurt … I failed to protect you". He didn't know what the other meant by a distraction or escape, he wasn't trained with that thought.
" it's not you're fault. It never was your problem to protect me. You never asked for it."
"I trained my entire life to be the best, so yes, I did ask for it." He said under his breath with a heavy sigh.
Kaisly sighed, walking over to Derek, and pulling the guard closer by his wrist. It was a gentle tug, not a command, maybe a question.. " Derek.. I.. I don't need you to take my blame. I was the reason I was hurt, not you, "
Derek allows the prince to pull him, "It is my duty to protect you, I should have been more aware of our surroundings not…not paying attention to something else more"
The prince shook his head, tired of the arguing. " more what? " he asked, looking up at the knight
Derek looked away, "nothing, don't worry about it"
" please tell me?" he asked softly
Derek looked at the ground, "I … " he sighed, "I was to busy staring at you…"
Kaisly flushed for a moment before chuckling "Did I have a branch in my hair or something? A lot of times my guards pick branches and stuff out during our rides.." he mumbled thinking about how a lot of his guards got quite close a lot more than his fathers ever did to him. Maybe it was because the prince was a bit shorter
