Though none of the Heroes quite understood what "miles per hour" meant–it wasn't as if they had any real measurement of speed aside from "fast" or "slow" or words like that where they were from–they got the basic idea. This van went fast, somehow, and to make sure that they were okay if it were to suddenly stop going fast, they should wear the seatbelts. They were able to figure it out, and though none of them knew there was something wrong with it, Wild's seatbelt was ridiculously twisted.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Drake had been about to mention something about how much Wild had messed up, but a look from Lani shut them up. They had to pick their battles, and that was a totally and completely idiotic battle.
"Everyone ready then?" Since the van was already started, Lani started to drive out of the parking lot, the van going over the speed bump as she took them towards the exit.

A chorus of affirmative answers sounded from the five Heroes, followed by sounds of surprise when the vehicle started moving. "The fuck–?!" Legend exclaimed, confusion clear on his face. "…Where's the horse?" Time was wondering a similar question, but at the same time… well, this was working for now, and they didn't really have any options other than to trust these people and their odd modes of transportation.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"No horses," Lani explained, watching traffic before pulling out onto the road. "It's all machinery. Horses aren't really used for transportation anymore, actually, it's too expensive to have one." The traffic at this time of day wasn't too bad, so Lani wouldn't have to be as aggressive as usual. She let out a small hum, getting up to speed as she drove them down the highway and towards the other side of the city. It led them right through the heart, and the massive skyscrapers that were there.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

Time's eyebrows rose. A time when horses were almost obscure… well, considering where he would be right now if certain occurrences hadn't dragged him away, it wouldn't be surprising to anyone who knew. Still, he said nothing about it. Wild, however, moved his gaze away from the window to look at Lani. "Really? I thought you said your technology wasn't as… uh, advanced as my time's? We definitely don't have vans, we still just walk or use horses."

(Whether or not Lani knows/assumes this is up to you, but in LU canon Time is married to Malon. Not sure if you knew, so I wanted to bring it up haha)

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(I'm figuring Lani doesn't know, but she ships it for sure aha)

Lani thought for a moment.
"Well, ours is advanced, but not in the same way. We don't have anything as advanced as the Sheikah technology, that's for sure, but there are things like our vehicles that are more advanced, and more readily available." Lani leaned back in her seat, keeping her eyes on the road. She had a nasty habit of forgetting to look back if she turned to someone to talk, so she had to stay focused.
"We have nothing like teleportation, that's for sure."

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

(Oh lord Lani asking the Boys about their relationships fkdjslavkn)

"…Huh." Wild looked back out the window, a different expression on his face that caused Time and Sky to share another knowing look. All of this technology, just out here, no excavation necessary–though the group had only just met Flora, Wild's "super-close friend" would have the time of her life, that was for certain. Ah, young love…

(Catch Wild trying to fit a whole-ass sports car into his Slate lmao "Zelda would love this!!")

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(asdfghjklhgfd Lani, after getting to know everyone better: Okay I have a really important question a lot of people want to know the answer to)
(Lani: Who do you have the hots for)

No excavation, just your soul- er, money. Lani fell quiet for a time as she drove, the ride smooth for the most part. Drake snorted some, looking out their own window. These men were going to great lengths to trick Lani, but they weren't falling for it.
Soon enough, the buildings and bustling city around them petered out into a more rural area, cut and paste houses passing by on either side.
"We're almost there," Lani said, glancing back.

(Drake: would you sTOP THAT YOU'RE SCRATCHING THE PAINT!!)

When the city started to thin out, Time felt tension that he didn't realize was in his shoulders start to disappear. The people walking by… well, as odd as their attire looked to the party of Hylians, Time was certain that he and his companions would draw some looks from them as well. If they were walking, they would stick out like five sore thumbs. That could prove to be a problem, couldn't it?

He certainly felt more at ease in this more rural area. There were less buildings closing in on him, and the ones that they did pass didn't tower over them. It had been quite some time since Time had felt boxed in an unfamiliar space like that. Not that it really made sense for him to react like that, it was just a weird new place with weird new people, after all, but the feeling of… unnaturalness, he supposed, was unnerving to say the least.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Soon, Lani was pulling up into a dirt parking spot. They were on the edge of the residential area, grass and crop fields popping up around them.
"How does here work for you guys?" Lani looked back then, twisted in her seat. The city was behind them, the skyscrapers looming over the horizon with the dingy tone of smog produced by all of the traffic and pollution. This world wasn't very healthy anymore, but it was the only one Lani had. Drake huffed some, looking back to it.
"And how long do you think this is going to take?" They added.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

"I mean, it's an open space where we can show off, it'll work fine," Legend replied. He then smirked over at Warriors at Drake's question. "I dunno, depends on if Wars here is just gonna fling fire around without purpose or if he's actually gonna put up a fight."

Warriors grinned right back. "Those are bold words, coming from the guy who's about to lose," he challenged.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Lani unbuckled as she turned the van off, smiling like a little girl on Christmas morning.
"Great!" She hummed with excitement, moving over to open the back door for the men to get out of. Drake unbuckled as well, stepping out.
"So, what, did you bring a flame thrower or something?" They asked, unconvinced.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

"I guess you could call it that, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant," Legend said as he got out. "Wild?"

"Already on it!" Wild replied, once again swiping through his Slate. This time, he pulled out a bag and handed it to Legend. "I'm guessing you're gonna want to use something from here?"

"Thanks, and until you learn basic equipment maintenance? Yeah, I'll stick to my own stuff." Wild chuckled sheepishly at the remark. Legend started to go through the bag, eventually pulling out two rods. One was red, with a red orb settled on the top, and another was brown and gold, ending at the tip in a gold triangle shape around a white gem. "Don't break it, Warriors," the Veteran warned, with a look at his soon-to-be adversary.

"Pfft, wouldn't dream of it." Warriors accepted the weapon with a smirk. Time… didn't trust the look in his eyes.

He looked over at Wild. "Ice rod?"

"Oh! Yeah, we, uh, might want that," Wild said with a laugh, retrieving the item from his Slate.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Lani held back her own laugh, watching with interest as Wild a bag out of the Slate.
"See, Drake?" She said, sounding like she'd proven a point.
"Slight of hand," Drake said, not looking over as they moved to the back of the van. They hadn't even watched closely.
"And if there's fire involved, I'm not trusting any 'ice rod,' I'll stick to my fire extinguisher." They opened the back of the van, reaching in and grabbing their can. Lani let out a heavy sigh, shaking her head. They just refused to accept it at this point.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

Time supposed that was fair enough. It was clear that this person didn't believe magic existed, so he couldn't blame them for not trusting in something they thought wasn't real.

"Shall we?" Warriors asked, gesturing to the open field before them.

"So long as you're ready to taste sand," Legend answered with a smirk.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Lani planned to stay well out of the way in this fight, glad to stay on the sidelines. Drake came back over with the red can, holding it with one hand by their side as they let out a sigh.
"I still can't believe you managed to find more pyromaniacs," they mumbled to Lani, who only laughed softly.
"What can I say?" she teased, lightly poking their chest. "Now, come on, surely this will convince you."

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

"Try not to actually hurt each other!" Sky called after the two, and Time quite shared his sentiment. Nonetheless, everyone stood back and let them get ready.

A moment passed where Legend and Warriors simply looked at one another, then they exchanged a nod and the spar started with Warriors sweeping the fire rod out in front of him, sending an arc of fire at Legend, who dodged out of the way and pointed his sand rod at the ground and lifting it up. A pillar of sand followed, nearly exploding in contact with the fire but causing it to evaporate nonetheless. Warriors didn't relent, attacking again with a blast of flame that nearly caught Legend square in the torso. The Veteran was too quick for that, though, and avoided it.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Lani was up against the van to stay out of the way of the two fighting warriors, but she couldn't help but lean forward as she watched. It was different, when she wasn't the one holding the controller, and it wasn't just a sprite on the screen. These men were warriors, actual ones who'd actually fought. Who knew what they were doing.
The magic was pretty cool too, but it really was more of an afterthought to Lani. She was clearly impressed, if not awed.
Drake was unamused, waiting with fire extinguisher in hand just in case. They didn't seem to be budging with their stance on magic, even now.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

Legend recovered quickly, thrusting his weapon into the ground and causing another pillar of sand to carry him upwards. It was crumbling within a second from another shot of fire, but Legend took advantage of the opportunity he was given to jump off of his escape, twisting in midair so that he landed on his unoccupied hand and kicked out at his opponent's ankles. Warriors jumped back just barely in the nick of time. "Whoa, that was dirty," he commented. Legend recovered and laughed.

"What can I say, I'm an underhanded bastard," he replied, and the two were at it again. Warriors would attack and attack, and Legend would defend until he found an opportunity to go on the offensive. He didn't try any tricks like landing on his hand again, and Time doubted he'd be able to even if he wanted to. It looked like he had landed on it relatively hard. Having said that, he was still flashy with his moves. As was Warriors, which wasn't unusual, but it seemed like both of them were exaggerating more than usual, just to show off. The thought amused Time; for as much as Legend liked to go after Warriors' ego, his pride was could be equal to the Captain's at times.

As Legend kept defending, Warriors was beginning to tire out. The constant attacks were doing more of a number to his stamina than the dodges were to Legend's, and the latter was finding more and more opportunities to throw in a quick attack before dancing around Warriors' again. Perhaps the battle would be over quickly, then…

(XD)

Lani glanced at Drake, only to see that their doubt still remained.
"Oh, come on," Lani mumbled to herself, looking back. How could they not believe still? She looked back to the two fighting, keeping a close eye on what they were doing. They truly were impressive, and it easy to see what their strategies were. Lani totally called Legend the winner, but she didn't say it out loud.
Drake wasn't amused in the slightest. They narrowed their eyes as Warriors continued throwing fire ever which way, hand tightening on the fire extinguisher.

@Cloudy_is_trying_her_best

Time found Lani's excitement to be akin to that of the children they'd come across occasionally on their travels, usually in towns. When one saw one of the Heroes using some kind of magic, they'd run and tell their friends and soon there would be a whole gaggle of kids surrounding them, begging to see something fun. Of course, their apologetic parents usually followed soon after, but none of the Heroes really minded. It was always refreshing to be met with that kind of wonder, not for their status, but for something as simple as lighting a torch without flint or steel.

And then there were people like Drake, who, it seemed, would not be convinced by anything. It was much rarer to run into someone like that, but on the occasion that they did, it wasn't uncommon for… hijinks to ensue. Either because someone bet they couldn't or because they were bored or frustrated, Legend or Four would attempt to change the person's stance with some elaborate magic. Sometimes someone else would get dragged in, sometimes they wouldn't, but the encounter almost always ended in Time or Twilight dragging at least one Hero away by the ear and apologizing to whoever they had bothered.

Just when Time thought this was going to be one of the truly rare occasions that nothing too terrible would come of the show, something had to happen. Because of course it did. One moment, Legend was sending a spray of sand at Warriors; the next, he was dodging out of the way of Warriors' next blast. And while Time was glad that the Veteran didn't take a fireball to face, the attack was now headed towards the spectators and the van.

Wild acted fast, but not in the way that anyone was really expecting him to–then again, that shouldn't have been surprising, considering that this is Wild. It seemed that he had completely forgotten about the ice rod in his hand, which would have undoubtedly been a better way of going about things. What did he do, you ask?

Threw himself at the oncoming blast of fire, screaming. Because of course he did.

Before the fireball could actually hit him, a translucent, ghostly green sphere appeared around the Champion. On contact with the attack, it turned red and shattered. Another shout rang out, and a form that Time identified to be a Goron appeared for a second to loose a mighty shout as it did so. Most of the fire dissipated when it hit the orb, but some of it caught on the grass at Wild's feet.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Warriors just stared in shock at what Wild just did. Legend, having not seen the chaos unfolding behind him, took advantage of this opening to use a sand attack to knock the fire rod out of Warriors' hand.

(Sorry it's late and long lmao, I had a car ride and Nothing Better To Do)

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(Aha, it did! F I R E)
(And sorry for the delay, I've been down with a migraine all day but we should be good now!)

Lani's excitement was similar to that of a child. She adored being able to watch her heroes in action, to see their powers in action. Even as she lived in a world of technology, and these things could be replicated, it just wasn't the same as seeing the two heroes duking it out.
Though, she did prefer seeing it from a distance.
She let out a small shriek of surprise as the fire came towards them, ducking behind Drake as she did. Drake was quick to bring the fire extinguisher up, but not enough to beat Wild. They grumbled some, unimpressed. They stepped forward, calmly using the extinguisher to put out the grass. Lani blinked a few times, but she wasn't as near as shocked as a few others.
"Well, that was flashy," she mumbled, not looking any less awed than before now that she was over the initial fear of a mass of fire flying at her.
