Cicada had a smile on as she walked into the other room setting Nikki down in a chair, "Oh, so I got the honors. I feel so honored you let me do it."
Cicada had a smile on as she walked into the other room setting Nikki down in a chair, "Oh, so I got the honors. I feel so honored you let me do it."
She stayed silent for a moment, still unsure what they were. She was unsure, because she was a demon, and she didn't know if she could feel the love that humankind could.
Cicada was quiet as she grabbed sweats and a nice sweater before tossing them to Nikki, "Here get dressed."
She didn't like this old feeling in her chest, she thought she quelled the actual emotion long ago. Only leaving lust in it's place, but no love was back.
Nikki got dressed, trying her best not to cry. She didn't know what to do, and she missed her family.
Cicada pulled on pants and a tank top before looking over to Nikki on the verge of tears. She leaned over and kissed her forehead, "Hey, it's okay."
"No, it's not. I feel like a whore" she replied, breaking down as soon as she kissed her forehead.
"You're not little one," Cicada murmured holding Nikki close, "You are far from one."
"Really? Because I just had sex with someone I don't even know if they love me or not" she replied, pulling away from her slightly.
Cicada backed away startled. She wasn't expecting that, "I- Nikki-" she took a deep breath, "I really really enjoy you being with me. But I don't know if it's love yet, however I do know I care for you."
"Exactly" she replied, backing away. She turned and walked to the washroom, shutting and locking the door behind her.
Cicada was speechless as she just sat down in defeat. The one good thing she dragged into her life was gone now. She let out a long sigh as she felt something wet roll down her cheek. A tear?
She melted against the door, weak. What had she done? Why had she done it? She loved this demon for whatever that said. She fumbled with her phone, trying to see if it still worked after all of the soot probably made its way into it. It worked, but it was dead, the screen showing her that it needed to be charged.
Cicada took a deep breath as she wiped away her tears. She didn't remember what love felt like, but this felt damn near close. She slowly got up and knocked on the washroom door. She said quietly her voice breaking, "I-I think I do love you."
"You're saying this because it's what you want me to hear" she replied, her voice breaking but trying to be strong.
Cicada shook her head and leaned against the door. She let out a shaky breath, "I'm not. Oh lord do I wish I was, but I'm not. I really do think I love you."
She opened the door, wiping tears from her face. "Do you have a phone charger?" she asked, trying not to look at her.
Cicada paused and nodded looking to the ground, "Yeah. Follow me."
She followed her, trying not to let an 'I love you too' slip.
Cicada lead her to a phone charger and sat down in an open seat. She had no idea how to process all of this.
She sat down across from her. She slipped the charger into her phone, looking down at her lap. "I want to go home" she mumbled, fiddling with the home button on her phone.
Cicada let out a sigh she looked up to Nikki, "This is your home."
"No, my home is my family" she replied, her breathing shattered and a new tear rolling down her face.
Cicada did nothing as she stood up and walked away, "Okay. Fine, you can go home."
"How the hell am I supposed to leave?" she asked, whining as she stood up. She ran her hands roughly through her hair, pulling half of it out.
Cicada had left the room and didn't hear Nikki's question. She ran her hand through her hair until she found an empty wall. She yelled as she punched the wall causing it to crack slightly from the contact. Cicada pressed her forehead against the wall and tried not to cry. She had always found love to be the stupidest of the emotions.
