(He does) "It's not, it's not Nash." Joan would never understand his guilt, but she could try to help. Try to help him under stand that it wasn't his fault, not at all. "Do, do you want to tell me what happened, or wait for another time?"

@Fraust

"I was trying to fight, like earlier… I-I followed him down. This was even before I hurt my wings. He… well, I was really struggling, and this one guy h-had his sword to my throat when Lloyd spotted me. H-He ran over and started fighting, protecting me… when… w-when we thought they were all gone, he turned to me, asking if I was okay, why I was there… when…" Nathaniel seemed to choke on his words a bit. "…a guy came up behind him. I-I yelled, trying to get Lloyd to see him, but… it was too late… h-he got stabbed and the guy ran off. I was screaming, sobbing over his body in an empty, blood filled field…"

@@RileyAnn

Joan lifted Nathaniel's head to look her in the eyes. "Listen to me, it is not your fault. It is the murder's fault. You did nothing wrong." Her eyes blazed with soft fire as Joan held Nash against her.

@Fraust

"H-He wouldn't have died if I just stayed home!" Nathaniel tried to brush away the tears rolling down his cheeks. "He'd still be alive, and mum and dad wouldn't have had to suffer through all that… a-and now I've gone missing and they'll think I'm dead too! They'd probably be glad, though… they know it's my fault too, and t-they're bitter. T-They probably hate me, and they've got every reason to…"

@@RileyAnn

"Nathaniel," Joan grabbed his hands to stop them from wiping away the tears. "That didn't happen, and you don't know what would have happened if you weren't there. He could have died anyway. You are not to blame, and any parent who believes that is not worthy of you. It. Is. Not. Your. Fault." Joan wanted Nash to know that was true, desperately. But she could only say so, and hopefully, make him feel like it was so, she could not change his mind for him. So Joan hugged him closer as they sat on the floor, waiting for his reply.

@Fraust

Nathaniel drew in a wavering breath, leaning against Joan. "I just… I-I don't know anymore, Joan…" He whispered after a bit. "My whole life has just been a roller coaster that keeps dropping and dropping, and I don't know… I don't know if I can handle it… I've tried so, so hard, but it's never enough… I try to help in the battle, and Lloyd d-dies, I try to clear my head after Lloyd by going flying, and I get shot down and crush my wings beyond repair, I tell my parents about Lloyd, they think it's my fault… You've asked why I don't like to make decisions before. Well, there's you're answer. I'm terrified of disappointing everyone again…"

@@RileyAnn

Joan held Nash tightly. They were on the floor, and she pulled them up when she notice his wings crumbling. "One thing you will never have to worry about with me is disappointment. I know that better then most, so believe me when I say, I will never be disappointed in you. So don't be afraid to make decisions and make mistakes. I will always be ready to help, listen, anything you need. I can't speak for the mess of angels upstairs, I cannot speak for Will, but down here, mistakes are made and learned from and moved on. Even something that heavy, I won't ever hold it against you."

@Fraust

Nathaniel clung tightly to Joan, trembling slightly from crying. "T-Thank you…" He remembered when he had struggled to not call Joan 'ma'am'. Now, he knew her well enough that it would feel strange to do so. They were friends. She was like the older sister he never had. His heart ached when he realized… she reminded him of Lloyd.

@@RileyAnn

"No need," Joan never had a brother, but Nash might as well have been. "Your free to make your own choices, as I've tried showing you again and again." She lifted her hand carefully, wiping away his tears. "Let go get Will. Do you want to tell him? It's okay if you don't." Pulling them apart but keeping her arms on his shoulders. "What do you say?"

@Fraust

(Nathaniel makes me wanna cry)
"I don't… I don't know if I'm ready for everyone to know yet, if you know what I mean…" Nathaniel looked up at Joan, his hazel eyes locking with hers. "Where were we going again? I sort of got lost in the… you know." He laughed weakly.

@@RileyAnn

(Me too) "That's okay, don't worry." Joan thought about the best way to phrase this without freaking him out. "Well, we kinda have to leave the castle. Go out into the actual Hell…" Joan waited for Nash's reaction.

@Fraust

"Is it… um… is it dangerous? I mean, you live here, so you're probably fine…. but I'm an angel. Surely some people won't be too happy about that?" Nathaniel fidgeted with his wings nervously.

@@RileyAnn

"Most you'll get some stares and snarling." Joan didn't want to add about the wild Hell Hounds that roam the dark, damp forests that they have to cross through. The very Hell Hounds that will tear into anything that moves.

@Fraust

"Alright… let's go, then." Nathaniel took a deep, albeit slightly shaky, breath and did his best to look as though he hadn't been crying before going to leave the room again.

@@RileyAnn

They walked out together, and the first thing Will noticed were their faces. Joan had a blank slate, not giving him an inch. Nathaniel had tear stains and his nose was red. He didn't comment, just followed when Joan started leading the way.

Joan was thankful Will said nothing, until they were nearing the door.
"What about the wilds?" Joan froze, not wanting to answer.

@@RileyAnn

"Well," Joan sung sarcastically. "I promised to show you guys their beauty, right? This just comes with a bit of danger."

Lucifer turned from down the hallway. "Stop calling it Hell!" He shouted with fake menace.

@Fraust

(Sorry I was gone so long!)
Nathaniel flinched at Lucifer's yelling, but said nothing. "It's not too dangerous, is it?"

@@RileyAnn

Joan lead the way, winding around corridors almost lost in the span of time between leaving. "See the trick with leaving the underworld," Joan started, "Is you can get any from any ordinary portal, but you have to leave from an angel's portal, one that still has their wings…" She paused, for no more than a moment. "And only one of those is in my father's domain."

@Fraust

"Really? Who is it?" Nathaniel asked curiously, trotting alongside Joan. The underworld quite frankly startled him. He had felt much safer in Joan's house, even if it was huge and made him think he'd get lost.

@@RileyAnn

"Old man Jenkins, he's a doll really." Joan mumbled the next part as they walked, "But he can be such a stubborn ass with visitors.."

@Fraust

"Do you think he'll approve of me?" Nathaniel looked around as they walked. I hope he's friendly enough… and, you know, doesn't hate angels for kicking him out.
