It was approaching night time, as the remaining amber rays of the setting sun shone through the trees, illuminating the lone deer path. The leaves rustled gently in the wind, interrupted only by the distant sound of crickets
(Oh shit, I forgot to ask if you wanted my character to be human! I have a winged character I really want to use.)
(aa, its okay, ur character can be absolutely anything)
Andean slipped through the forest, following a deer path. Their wings were tired from flying all day so they decided to find a place to stay by walking. "Having your wings sore is a pain, don't fly Andy." They muttered under their breath, frowning.
As it was now, it did not seem like they would find much of a shelter, not in this dense forest. Unless they were comfortable sitting in a tree, the chances of finding something like a cabin with warmth and maybe something to eat were incredibly low if not inexistent. The light was quickly fading away so it wasn't long until it had dimmed significantly.
Andy looked around, frowning. They'd find a cave or something, they could eat any rotting meat, so that was good. They'd find a dead animal and just scavenge instead of hunting. "Hello, anyone there?" Andy called out.
Only the silence replied to their call, accompanied by leaves rustling and wood screeching. The silver moon was already visible at the horizon, shining dimly in the dark sky. Looks like they might be sleeping outside tonight, though the breeze passing through the trees was slightly chilly.
At one point in the road, the deer path split in two, both ways seeming to lead deeper in the forest. They could stay here, but this trail looked used so who knows who might pass by, human or animal. Picking the direction seemed to no longer matter, so by going left, they were back amongst the tall trees - only now, there seemed to be an odd shape in the distance. It looked like a house, its shape big and sinister in the dim moonlight
Andean took one look at the house and decided it was going to be hard to get there before all light went out with legs. "Flying it is." They muttered, taking a deep breath and jumping up, begining to glide towards the building.
The glide took a few pretty painful minutes, but thankfully they arrived at the delapidated gate, covered in vines. Beyond them, the dark shape of the building was clearer and at the same time it showed just how old the place was. It seemed abandoned, yet it was surprisingly well preserved for a manor that had been left at the mercy of the elements for multiple years.
Walking through the front yard, there was an old path between overgrown bushes leading to a dry fountain, with its ornament long gone. The stairs to the main door were worn, and the side bars were all smashed here and there.
Andy sighed and looked over the building. It was crappy, but well presevered enough that it wouldn't break under their weight. "Good enough." They muttered as they headed inside, opening the main door with an awkward sound.
