Cheeks tinted bright pink, Megumi walked over to Alfred's side.
Well, more like stumbled, due to carrying so many dresses.
"I'm sorry, Alfred," she said, chuckling. "I didn't mean to neglect you. It's just that I get carried away when it comes to clothes."
"Don't sweat it?" Alfred said, walking up to the clerk and purchasing their clothes "You need help carrying those?"
"For sure. They named my brother August," she smiled, "Book enthusiast as well?" She pointed out what he was reading.
"Yea." Blake chuckled a bit nervously "I've always loved books."
"Me too! If someone could pay me to just sit and read all day I would be a millionaire," she laughed. She was talking too much. She always talks too much.
Blake laughed with her "I feel the same way! What kind of books do you normally read? Like, what's your favorite genre?" Blake became suddenly enticed by March
"I love everything! But mostly I've been getting really into mystery fantasy novels. I just read one that was a mystery novel but it involved ghosts and visions and all that. I love it because it just keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm not so much into horror as I am thriller," she explained, getting excited. She loved reading so much and she enjoyed having someone to talk to about it, even just for a short while.
Megumi nodded as she stuffed her new dresses into the bag. "You didn't really have to pay for all of this though…"
"It's fine." Alfred said. "So where to now? Hmh?"
"Hmm, I have an idea." That cheeky grin was back on Megumi's face again.
"And, what's that, eh?" He asked, intently.
Megumi strode to the fitting rooms in the back of the store.
"I'll try these dresses on, and you'll tell me what you think of them," she said, laughing.
"Yeah, alright." He said, chuckling. "Why don't we start right now, eh?"
Upon hearing Alfred's approval, Megumi immediately walked into the fitting room and slipped out of her dress and stockings. She pulled the sky blue dress out of the bag. Megumi's face lit up when she looked closely at the pattern printed on the dress: a dark-blue floral pattern running diagonally across the top part.
In the end, Megumi managed to get into the dress rather nicely. With that, she opened the door, and stepped out of the dressing room.
"Well, what do you think, Alfred?" she asked.
He whistled, a long, thin, suggestive whistle.
"Damn."
Flustered, Megumi giggled. "Well, if you like this, then I'm pretty sure you'll like the other two."
She slipped back into the fitting room.
"Damn straight I will." He said, liberally.
Megumi smiled as she slipped out of the dress before pulling out the red dress, adorned with a flame pattern of the same color.
As soon as she managed to put it on however, she felt a sense of uneasiness come over her.
It's probably because Alfred is outside, Megumi thought.
Yeah! That was the reason!
Shrugging off her insecurities for now, Megumi stepped outside. This time, she did a little curtsy for him.
"What about this one? Personally, I don't think red is my color, but it's still pretty nice."
"Blue becomes you, and, so does red."
He said, although he felt, off, for some reason.
Going back inside the fitting room, Megumi stripped off the red dress before pulling out the final garment in the bag: the dress the color of sunset.
But she just couldn't bring herself to put it on.
Megumi started to tremble. Tears welled in her eyes. She couldn't lie to herself anymore.
With a pained gasp, she dropped the dress.
"Is everything, okay in there?" Alfred asked, worried.
Megumi could the worry in Alfred's voice. The tears in her eyes started to fall as she wrapped her arms around her upper torso.
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea," she said.
He was surprised at her answer.
"Alright, if that's how you feel. I can take you back to that little coffee shop." He said. "Your call." He wasn't the least bit bothered, really, if she didn't want to do this, he was cool with that, no hard feelings at all.
"What? No! No, it's not that," Megumi sputtered. "It's just…"
She had to say it. She just had to.
"I feel like I'm… I'm leading you on."
"You sure, because you don't need to worry about that, it's whatever." He said.
