Etta blocks the hit, scowling. “That is stupid. Now, what’s the plan now? I only have so long before my employers track me down and kill every one of you.”
Etta blocks the hit, scowling. “That is stupid. Now, what’s the plan now? I only have so long before my employers track me down and kill every one of you.”
"We'll be going out-of-state. I've magically disabled all forms of tracking, so we're safe." Val says. Aiden nods.
"She has the power to do so. And besides, we have enough firepower on our side to destroy the state." Aiden smirks.
Etta grins slyly, leaning slightly on the wall. “That’s what I like to hear. So, tell me more about this… nuclear Holocaust. I’ve heard about it before, but I’m not sure I have all of the details.”
Val laughs. "The dude is called Malcolm. Basically, he lost a lot of his body and decided to fuck shit up for the rest of humanity. He disappeared awhile back, but his automatons still work just fine."
Etta’s brow furrows as she looks at the screen on her arm. “Malcolm, you say? Tell me more about these… automatons.”
"I don't know very much about them. They are apparantly AI, way more advanced than even our most advanced prototypes. They can think and upgrade themselves, if the rumours are true." Val sighs.
Etta nods, pulling up the records on The Weapon. “I think I’ve been tracking one of these. It’s a mechahumanoid, used by many underground businesses and is now being held in an asylum. My employers tried to get their hands on it years ago.” She turns the screen off, crossing her arms. “We need to rescue it.”
Val sighs. "Of course."
Andry holds up his hands. "Hold on a sec. 'The Weapon'?"
Etta nods. “Yes. From what I’ve heard, it is one of the strongest, and may be the most powerful artificial intelligence ever created. It cannot fall into the wrong hands.”
Val sighs. "And you're sure this thing truly exists?"
Andry stays silent now, not sure what to say.
Etta sighs, projecting a 3D model of her research. “There is too much evidence not to notice it. Multiple reports of mass explosions, huge data leaks, kidnappings and killings in a concentrated area…” she keeps it up for the others to study. “And it all points to the AI.”
Val looks stunned underneath her helmet. "Fair enough."
Andry hasn't even bothered to say much, uncomfortable around Etta.
Etta closes her projecting, raising an eyebrow at Andry.
“What is on your mind, kid? This thing can help us take down the enemy.”
Andry sighs. "I'm… distinctly uncomfortable around people."
Val snorts. "That's an understatment and you know it, Trelland."
Andry grins. "Yeah, I know, Soluna."
Etta smirks, looking off.
“Yeah, I get that.”
She sighs as she starts to think about her previous life, then brushes it off.
“Well, what is the plan.” She says, almost scowling.
Val sighs. "Find Malcolm and his AI. Find his associates. Terminate with extreme prejudice."
Andry snorts and laughs at that.
Etta grins. “That sounds perfect to me.” She inspects some of the weapons Val and Andry brought, smiling.
“You make these yourself?”
Andry and Val nod. "Yes, we do. The railguns we're holding, and the one we handed you earlier? All unique."
(Evil chuckle. I already have ideas for The Weapon. And the AI are not as easy to find as one might think, nor as easy to deal with, evil grin)
Jack listened to everything. He wasn’t surprised by the bombardment of people, though the amount of adamantium Val had did shock him a little. But, this Malcolm character, and particularly his AIs, were not something he was looking forward to meeting.
“If Malcolm disappeared, wouldn’t he be dead already? From what I’ve found, he was an old man from the beginning. And it’s been, what? At least a few hundred years. Honestly, I’m not sure. This world’s time measurements are drastically different from my birth home. Also, I doubt he worked with others,”Jack mentioned.
(DAMN! That's cool!)
Val grins. "See, cryostasis exists for a reason, Jack. And you'd be surprised how many people agreed with him, and how many he 'worked' with to further his goals. 4 in particular."
Andry looks uncomfortable, still, but slightly less so than before.
(Evil grin)
(In a goofy, contemplative voice. Hmm… the idea of Malcolm working with others. Such a foreign idea. Lmao!)
Jack shrugged,”I’m still relatively new to this world, so I honestly don’t really understand what cryostasis is. I get the gist, though. But, Malcolm actually worked with others? I never got that vibe from him.”
He finished his wine, setting the glass down next to him.
(Ooh! Yeah “The Weapon” is gonna be my character SAM, so I’d love to hear your ideas! XD)
Etta cocked her head, studying the railgun as she listened to Jack. “What, did you know the guy?”
(Grins back)
(Yeah, it really is, but hey! I said I'd wreck Malcolm's backtory, sooo…)
"What do you mean, never got that-" Val starts to say, then looks closely at Lucky Jack. "Huh. Nevermind. I recognize the signs of one who has come too far forward in time, now."
Andry sighs. "Of course the halfling came forward in time. There are few left in our world, Val."
(XD yeah, and SAM is still subject to change too lol)
Etta chuckles lightly. “That is true.” She bends down to the halfling. “Crytostasis is the science of prolonging life through methods like freezing, sleeping chemicals, things like that.”
(Lol)
(Ah, now I see what you’re doing. Okay, so one idea I have is, maybe in the future, SAM is assimilated. Though the assimilation part can happen to anyone, evil grin. Who, is the question)
Lucky Jack shrugged at Valerie.
“To clarify, I didn’t know Malcolm whatsoever. I simply looked him up, and got the vibe of him being a loner psychopath. Trust me, I’ve met a few. But, yes, I am from the past, and from another planet.”
He turned to Etta and nodded appreciatively.
