Charlotte sighed. "Yeah, I'm ready," she called without moving.
Charlotte sighed. "Yeah, I'm ready," she called without moving.
"Okay. We'll leave in a few minutes." He replied, heading to his own room.
Lightning nuzzled her lightly, having finished the fruit.
Charlotte looked up at the ceiling for a few seconds before turning to look at Lightning. "I'm sorry, I don't have any fruit. Maybe we can get some later."
Lightning chirped softly, and snuggled close to her.
Charlotte smiled faintly at Lightning before standing up and pacing across the room.
Lightning held still, curling up into a ball.
(Wanna timeskip to like… near when the carriage gets attacked or whatever? XD)
(sure. Want to, or should i?)
(Not really sure what's supposed to happen so you maybe?)
(alrighty!)
From outside of the carriage came high, shrieking war cries. One of the guards pounded on the carriage door. "Miss Charlotte, your majesty, please don't come out of the carriage, under any circumstances!" Then the sound of swords meeting.
Aster cursed under his breath. Four guards? What was Quinn thinking? Just us four aren't enough!
Quinn sat up, and peeked out the window, silent and alert.
Charlotte jumped at the noise and looked out the window. "Oh, my gods," she whispered anxiously.
Quinn looked over at her. "Band of renegades. Left over from the rebellion that Aster's grandfather led." He said softly.
Aster was fighting one of them, the person he was fighting shouting at him.
"We have to help them. We have to - " she started tapping her foot rapidly.
"Nothing either of us can do, Charlotte." He replied softly.
Aster shook his head, giving the man a response as they continued fightong, swords flashing in the sunlight.
Charlotte tapped her foot faster. "But we can't do nothing," she cried.
"We have to!" Quinn snapped. "There's nothing we can do by get in the way!"
Aster shouted something, still fighting the one man.
Charlotte froze, then slowly turned back to look out the window. "You're wrong," she said softly. She stared hard at one of the enemies outside and sent him flying into a tree. A wave of nausea immediately followed, and she doubled over. "Gods…" she mumbled.
Quinn bit his lip.
The man going flying distracted Aster, just for a split second, but that was enough time for the man he was fighting to slip his sword into Aster. It slid between his ribs with a sickening sound, the point coming out the back. He yanked it out, twisting the blade as he did so. Aster fell, eyes wide as blood began to flow out of the holes in his torso, a ragged cry spilling from his mouth.
(Godfuckingdammit whyyoudothis)
"I'm fucking stupid," Charlotte whispered before bolting out of the carriage to Aster. She flicked her wrist and the man who had stabbed him flew god-knows-where.
(becauseI'manassholelol)
Quinn ran to the door, and ran after Charlotte, picking up Aster gently. "Charlotte, we need to get back in the carriage, now." He said.
Aster moaned in pain, eyes squeezed shut and his breath coming in ragged gasps. "No…you two were s-supposed to stay in the c-carriage…"
"Shut up, you're dying, now isn't the time," Charlotte said quickly, going back to the carriage and opening the door for Quinn. She felt extremely nauseated from all the blood, but managed to only turn several shades paler.
Quinn carried Aster inside, gently setting him down on one of the benches. The young king's clothes were covered in blood from Aster.
Aster moaned, eyes unfocused and breaths coming in fast as shock began to set in.
Charlotte had to look away. Okay, basic first aid. Or, maybe not basic, but she knew this. "Aster, are you having trouble breathing?" She asked while looking around to make sure no one got too close.
Aster swallowed. "I-I…I…" he stammered.
Quinn shook his head. "No time for questions." he said, ripping one of the curtains off the carriage windows, pressing it to the entry wound from the sword.
"Quinn! It's sort of an important distinction! Applying pressure isn't going to help if he can't breathe!" Charlotte turned around to look. "We need to get him into recovery position to help air flow."
