Myrah laughed with her. She was still flustered and all blushy, but she managed to my pout, "That's not fair!"
Myrah laughed with her. She was still flustered and all blushy, but she managed to my pout, "That's not fair!"
"Sure it is." Olive slipped her arms around the Princess's waist, heart thundering so loudly that she was sure Myrah could hear it, even through all her armour. "Why not?"
Myrah couldn't hear Olive's heart, but she could she hear her own loud and clear. She was a stammering mess and couldn't even respond to the question.
Olive opened her mouth to speak, but her words caught in her throat. After a moment, she inhaled and tried again. "I love it when I can see your freckles…."
Myrah felt her face get even hotter then before. It seemed to be spreading too. Both her the tips of her ears and the back of her neck were a heated red, "Y-you do? Maybe I should have them out more often."
Olive's breath hitched– Myrah was so close, all she had to do was—
No. Her father's voice echoed in her head. You freak. Step away from her. Her mother's voice joined it.
Myrah heard Olive's breath hitch. She wondered if Olive was thinking the same thing she was. Myrah said nothing about it.
Olive pulled away, the voices in her head rising to an unbearable crescendo. "I- I'm sorry. Just give me a moment."
Myrah nodded and she stepped back. She looked down at the ground and rubbed her arm.
Olive took in a few gulps of air, her head filled with the vivid memories of shouting. "I- Sorry. I– I wasn't uncomfortable– I just need a moment." She felt like such a terrible person for ruining it. "I'm sorry."
Myrah gave Olive a hug before releasing again, "It was fine. I pribably should get back to my room to get ready properly. I'm having another suitor today. I really, wish my parents would stop and listen to me,for, once."
Olive's heart fell, but she managed a nod. "I- Good luck. I hope that it's not too unpleasant for you."
Myrah felt her smile slip. She sighed, "As long as he isn't like the last I should be fine, I will miss you though."
Olive gave Myrah a quick, tentative hug. "I'll miss you too. Good luck, Princess."
(Ack, sorry, I've descended into one liners. I promise my writing will be better tomorrow, I'm just really tired atm)
(It's fine! I have been too.)
"Thank you," Myrah cursteyed quickly before walking towards the nearest entrance back in. She figured one,of,the maids, was going to help her get ready.
(oof sorry)
(skip or stay?)
(We can skip.)
(to when? Night time?)
(Yeah!)
Myrah was sitting in her room wiping make up off her face. She had gotten out of the suffocating dress that the maid had forced her into. It didn't fit her anymore and at the first chance she got she was burning the darn thing.
Olive could hear the Princess moving around in her chambers, but didn't want to intrude, so she drew in a deep breath and looked up at the starry sky. It was crisp, the air cool against what little skin she had exposed, and a beautiful night. Cicadas chirped in the trees and fireflies danced in the air/
(SOMEONE ELSE WHO CALLS THEM CICADAS!)
Myrah let out a sigh as she looked out her open window. She stared up at the stars her fingers tracing swirls within the starry sky. She was smiling as the soft symphony of night continued on.
(wait they're called something else??)
Olive's eyes flickered upwards, landing on the Princess. She smiled, not speaking up quite yet as she tried her best to memorize the peaceful expression on Myrah's face.
(Some people call them katydids. Like everyone I know. I swear, there not katydid guys!)
Myrah glanced down and expected it to be a random guard and was happily surprised when she saw Olive. A smile appeared on her face, a perfect way to end the day, "Hello Olive."
(what??? I've actually never heard that word before oof)
(c i c a d a)
Olive flushed lightly, grateful for the cover of the night. "Hello, Princess. How- How did your day go?"
(I know all about it -_-)
"God awful," Myrah groaned as she rested on the ledge, "The prince guys was exactly like the one from two days ago. I really wish my parents would listen to me. Maybe I'll make them some day soon."
