Winifred nodded. "Oh, you don't know the pride and satisfaction I battle. That's why I could hardly control myself at that restaurant." She gave a faint hum, sipping her tea but watching him over the rim of her china.
Winifred nodded. "Oh, you don't know the pride and satisfaction I battle. That's why I could hardly control myself at that restaurant." She gave a faint hum, sipping her tea but watching him over the rim of her china.
Marcus couldn’t stop grinning, his cheeks dimpling as he ducked his head bashfully. “I’m very glad for it then, the restaurant was… something else. Something enjoyable.”
"It was something embarrassing. I hardly remember what came out of my mouth. But I meant almost every word." She giggled. Looking at him with a sheepish smile she shrugged, "Forgive me.?"
“Why would I need to forgive you for something so…. amazing? Winifred, you brushed your hand across my lips, I thought my heart was going to combust,” he teased, flicking her nose lightly. “Believe me, you do not have to apologize.”
"Guilty pleasure…" She muttered, blushing deeply. "I enjoyed every moment of it and I hardly understood why. But its quite clear now that I love you. Teasing you is second nature."
“It’s so strange,” he chuckled to himself, “How different things are. Hell, I threw an knife at you on your first day and asked you if you wanted to smoke.” At the word ‘smoke’ his eyes flicked to his hidden cache of drugs, longing rising up in them for the barest second. “Now look at us.”
Winifred laughed. "I wanted to getnunder your skin so badly. Remember when I came in here wesring practically nothing?"
Marcus snorted, almost choking on his bite of egg. "You scared me! It was like you'd changed overnight! You'd gotten under my skin already, though, by dumping a bucket of water all over my face!"
"I was scared when I did that." She told him, taking a bite of her bread roll. "I didnt know what you would do."
Marcus ruffled his hair and looked away, embarrassed. "Yeah….. apologies for how moronically my past self acted to you. Or in general. All of it. I was an idiot."
Winifred shrugged. "Nevertheless, there was something that attracted me to you. It was your carelessness, your good looks, and might I even say your bad habits. No man has ever spoken to me the way you have…. it was….electrifying."
Winifred shrugged. "Nevertheless, there was something that attracted me to you. It was your carelessness, your good looks, and might I even say your bad habits. No man has ever spoken to me the way you have…. it was….electrifying."
Marcus ducked his head again, sheepish. "Everything about you was enamouring. Your beauty was what I noticed first, your fiery determination second. I had never been contradicted in a way that wasn't… violent, before, you were the first who had treated me as their equal right from the start."
Winifred smiled as she fed him another forkful. "You're a human being. A difficult one, but human nonetheless. Treating you like an animal would be counter productive." She stated matter-of-factly.
This elicited a light laugh, though it hurt his chest. “That sounds like something you would say. My Winifred, he smiled affectionately.
Winifred wanted to laugh as well, but something came to mind. "Oh no…." she shook her head with embarrassment. "I read you that book! I told you that it was okay to desire a woman! Heck, I told you to have sex!" Winifred's shame in the color red across her cheeks. She covered her face with her hands.
This one Marcus let out a full blown laugh, though it trailed off into a grimace of pain. “I remember that… how ironic. The woman I loved told me that it was okay to desire another.”
Winifred groaned into her hands. She looked at him with burning cheeks. "I was only teasing. I…" she groaned once more. OH, the holes she'd dug for herself.
Marcus reached up to gently pry Winifred's hands away from her face, grinning all the while. "It's nice to have some leverage over you, for a change." His grin widened. "Why, Winifred, I'm surprised you want to be with me, I thought it was Thomas you desired to see unclothed?"
"Marcus…" she whimpered. Gods, why did she say those things? He would tease her mercilessly with them. "Stop it, you insufferable lummox!" she retorted, though her words came out with laughter.
Marcus clapped a hand over his heart, pretending to act outraged and shocked. "Winifred, I'm hurt! Is that all that you think of me?" His smirk quickly returned, and he put on his gentlest face. "After all, I was only pointing out the truth. Don't worry, dear, it is natural for a woman to desire a man."
Winifred covered her face once more. "Oh no…you're not going to let that one disappear any time soon, are you." She groaned. Honestly, she didn't mind because she knew one thing was true. She did desire him.
"Not at all," he replied with a laugh, leaning in to brush his lips teasingly across hers. "But I do hope that you desire me more than you do him, it would be a shame if I had to break up my plans to get him with Angeline."
Winifred eyes widened as he brushed his lips against her. Thomas and Angeline…?
She grabbed his face and pressed her lips against his, kiss him deeply. She only pulled away when she was breathless. "You….Marcus- you're brilliant!" She kissed his again, her fingers musing his hair.
Marcus smiled against her mouth, parting her lips gently with his own before pulling away. He gave her that crooked grin, rubbing his head against her fingers. “I like to think so.”
