Lucas pulled off to the left, to the parking lot that was deserted except the handful of non-working cars sitting in their spots, becoming rusting and unusable.
Lucas parked, though he didn't have to, unbuckled his seatbelt and opened his door, hurrying to open Ronni's for her as well. He knew he might seem extra or like he was going out of his way to do some things, like park in the parking spots, or wear his seatbelt and open Ronni's door for her, but these things were engraved into his mind as everyday things.
Well, the first two were, the third was more of something his mom taught him when he was younger, when she was teaching him basic gentlemanly manners.

He ducked and then straightened, noting the eerie dimness of the inside of the Walmart, because the fluorescent lights were off.
He turned back to Ronni.
"Do you want to split up?" He asked "or stay together?"
"Pfft what? you cant just yes" She giggled rolling her eyes. "so you can ask me."

"Okay, stay close I guess, I have no idea what isle tarps would be in." He admitted shyly, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at her.

They got about half way there when there was a scuffling sound from an aisle up ahead of them. Ronni immediately stopped, her eyes wide.

Lucas moved in front of her protectively and pulled out the knife he kept tucked into the back of his pants. He got it out, unsheathing it and waited, slowly moving forward and gasped when he realised it was only a small dog, a puppy really, which looked like a golden lab.
"Oh my god!" Lucas yelled excitedly and scooped it up, careful to keep the knife away from it, and turned back to Ronni. "Ronni! Can I keep it?"
June grinned, "Dare"

Ronni had started to relax, and nod yes,, when there was more movement, and a bigger dog stepped out, clearly the mother. She was on a leash.
A leash being held by a very large man, who did not look friendly.
Lucas had his back turned as the man raised his free hand, something dark and metallic in it.
She dove for Lucas's legs, knocking him over as a shot rang out. In a fluid motion, she rolled to her knees, kneeling, and pulled the gun from her waistband. 2 more shots rang out, and the man dropped, a bullet in his chest and one in his head.
The dog snarled, and Ronni had to club it in the head with her gun.
