"It's easier to travel at night. My studies indicated that they're less active at night. So we best get moving." Velius explains, shouldering his bag. Luna woofs in agreement. He smiles at her. Then looks at Jen. As much as he didn't like working with others, this was the safest option.
Jen shrugs and nods again. "Alright, sounds cool, I wasn't gonna get any sleep anyways" He starts walking in the opposite direction they're supposed to go and realizes this. He flushes a bit red from embarrassment before turning in the right direction they're supposed to be heading. "Let's get goin' then."
Victory nodded "ok," she adjusted her backpack strap and grabbed her gun again before starting to follow Jen. Winnie trotted alongside her and she smiled, happy to have a companion that she knew.
Velius walks beside them, smiling at Jen when he had gone the wrong way. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. He looks forward to see Luna trotting alongside Winnie. He chuckles softly. He had always had a soft spot for animals.
Jen saw Velius' smile when he had gone the wrong way and flushed an even brighter red. "Oh yeah real nice you idiot, what a smart ass." He whispered as he went ahead of them, taking the lead. At least he wasn't in his usual temperamental rage and that was a good thing, though he wasn't sure how long that was gonna last traveling with two people.
Velius walks at a decent pace, but if you looked carefully, you could see signs of a slight limp. His eyes are sharp as he glances around, keeping an eye out for any infected. His eyes catch the fading sun and they flash a sharp blue. As he walks he ties his hair back, sighing softly as he does so. At least he could see without the blasted pieces of hair in his face. He needed to find something sharp so he. Could cut it. But that was rare in the apocalypse. He sighs. Maybe they can make it to Canada's border.
Victory stayed silent as they walked, happy that they were getting farther from her family. Winnie wagged her tail and looked up at her when Luna started walking alongside of her. She chuckled and shook her head, reaching down to pet her dog quick before continuing on.
After hours of walking they stumbled upon a small abandoned town, it was way too dark to see if there was any imminent danger. Jen's family's house was just beyond the hills out in the country, he definitely wasn't feeling it. He stops and turns to the others. "Y'all wanna take a break or keep going?" Though it was obvious that they were tired since they had walked non-stop from the city.
(Is this still open? If not I'll just stalk this rp because it seems cool.)
(I would think that it's open since some people just dropped it but you would have to ask @Sweater_Weather)
(Cool cool I'll wait until they respond then)
Velius looks around before glancing at the other. "Yeah. That would be a good idea." He places his bag down. Luna trots to his side, nudging his side. He smiles and hands her a bit of meat and some water. "Good girl…" He mutters. He stretches and settles down, placing his sniper on his lap.
Victory nodded and sat down a few feet away from Velius. Winnie quickly laid down next to her and Victory pulled off her pack, opening the bag of jerky and taking out a few pieces for her dog. Winnie quickly ate the food before laying her head on her paws and falling asleep.
Jen nods as Velius and Victory feed their pets and take a break. "I'll go check out the place." Jen wanders around the town with his thoughts. He decided to scout the area in case the infected were hiding about. He definitely didn't want any surprises. Of course, Jen didn't mind dying and knew that it was most likely going to happen but he was pretty sure the others didn't want that kind of fate, to be turned into an infected.
(Shoot I hope this didn't die before I could even join)
(I don't think it's dead yet, at least I hope it isn't..)
(Nah, I'm still down to continue. Don't know about Bleu though)
(Ok, I'll put a response up then)
"I'm going to take a nap, don't you dare leave me, feed me to the infected or anything else." She glared at Velius for a second before going over to the wall of a building and laying down next to it, Winnie following her and laying down on the other side of her. She kept her gun in her hand and put one arm behind her head as a pillow before going to sleep.
Velius blinks. "Why the bloody hell would she stare right at me for that? I'm not that shallow." He rolls his eyes before settling down. He was alone now, only Luna to keep company with. He sighs softly, rubbing a hand through Luna's fur. He glances around hearing a far off shriek. Far enough they wouldn't have to worry about it.
Jen had searched the town and had found nothing yet. All that was left was a small area which he had left out. He walks in the dark and starting to feel tired, he lets his guard down a bit. He must not have heard the infected approach him from behind because either 1) he had been too lost in his thoughts to notice or 2) he was too busy trying to keep himself awake so that he wouldn't faceplant on the concrete. As soon as the infected made contact with him, he froze and in that split second his senses snapped back to reality as he swung his gun as hard as he could to the creature behind him, making it let out a growl and other unhumanly noises. The shock must have put his nerves on edge because he keeps slamming his gun on the infected's head, causing some blood to splatter on him. After he was sure it wouldn't get up again he stumbles back and takes in a shaky breath. Okay. So maybe he wasn't ready to die yet. Not like that thing anyway. Before he goes back to the others he lights a cigarette to calm his nerves. He walks back to the place they had settled, making sure to keep an extra eye out for any unusual movement. When he got back he saw that Victory had already decided to go to sleep. Good. Now he would just have to stay awake for the rest of the night because there was no way he was going to sleep after having that nightmare of an encounter with the infected. He glances over at Velius with a weary expression on his face then gives him a thumbs up before sitting down where he had left his stuff. His hands were still shaking some as he set down his gun beside him and opened his bag to get something to eat.
Velius's mind had wandered as he stared at the roaring flames in front of him, crackling and sending little flames into the sky. He sighs, running a hand through his hair. He removed his jacket, and you could see the edge of what appeared to be a symbol burned into his skin. He sighs. Luna perks and growls before relaxing. Velius grabbed his sniper, only to see Jen returning. He nods when Jen gave him the thumbs up but his eyes snapped back tp the other when he saw blood and Jens shaky hands. "Oi." He walks beside the other. "Get hurt?" He asks, kneeling so he could be eye level with the other.
Jen blushed a bit when Velius knelt in front of him, he avoided eye contact and forced his hands to stop shaking but it was no use. He smiled at Velius."Yeah I'm fine I just ran into a rogue infected," he paused then laughed a bit nervously. "It might have shook me up a bit" He admits although he was never used to admitting his faults to anyone.
Velius smiles a little. "You'd be insane I that didn't scare you. Here." He hands his flask to the other. "It'll calm your nerves. Just a sip though. Its heavily caffeinated." He chuckles softly before relaxing. "This place… There's more to your story isn't there?" He glances at the other, his blue eyes glinting in the moonlight as he offers the other a slight smile. He ties his hair back in a messy ponytail.
Jen takes the flask offered to him. He starts to take a drink when Velius brings up the part where he may or may not have said the truth about travelling aimlessly. He nearly chokes on the drink and coughs as he tries to keep it down. He looks over at Velius' blue glinting eyes once he recovers. "N-no." There is a long silence and it was obvious that it was a lie. "Maybe." He says after Velius flashes him a smile. He puts the flask down, defeated.
