(Sure!)
(sounds gucci)
(And Grace hasn't read her letter from Adam yet. Potential conflict if someone sees it.)
And…
Someone write a starter.
(not it)
(Not it.)
(I can. Just restart?)
(Put it a few days from where we last were. Something that could easily be worked into a conflict or otherwise enhance the plot.)
(yeah, we're just keeping the part about the letters)
(Nevermind I'll do it. After dinner. When everyone is in their bunks.)
Grace sat on the edge of her bed, the last red rays of sunlight filtered in through the half open windows. She was still in her regular clothes even though most of the other girls had already changed. She felt the rustle of the letters in her pocket and reached inside to take them. Jake had kept them out all day exercising while keeping an especially close eye on Adrielle and Jasper. Jane had insisted it was to "start mental as well as physical strength" whatever that meant. She pulled out the letters, wincing as they had been crumpled from her movement in the day. There were three. She pulled out the letter from her parents and a wave of sadness crashed over her. It evaporated completely as the warning note from her sister fell out. Her mind drifted off for a second and she felt her teeth clench. That bastard. Once again the guilt attempted to cover her as through her gazed eyes she saw him fall to the ground as her foot slammed into him. The noises of his ribs cracking were like gunshots.
She took some deep breaths to calm herself. It was Adam who had first taught her that, and echoed by her therapist he had paid for. In. And out. In. And out. Within only a minute the tear streaks on her face had dried to nothing but lines that reflected the late day sun.
The last letter. She had been so busy she hadn't been able to see what he had sent her. The writing on the envelope was clearly handwritten. Dazedly her fingers traced over the writing. After a minute she shook her head and with her nail carefully sliced it open.
It wasn't a particularly long letter. In only a minute she had read it all.
Dear Grace,
Perhaps you may be surprised I am writing to you. It would be unseemly not to. You have arrived in a new place without anyone you know or love. You are alone. I have sent this to reassure you. You are not alone. I am always with you. Remember that.
Only a while longer Grace. You can hold on until then. I have faith in you. Hold strong. You will be back soon.
With care,
Adam
P.S. As always, call me whenever necessary. I am at your call any time of day or night.
He had signed in in some kind of cursive writing. She had come to love that signature. It was the only reason she had not been locked away for murder.
Cat walked out if the bathroom and was about to get up to bed. She saw a letter resting on her pillow. The envelope just read ”Gattina”(Kitten). Her face was emotionless as she ripped it open. It was all in Italian and was from her brother. It basically said he’d get her out if and that all the had to do was apologize to him. It had an address written at the end. She opened up her sketchbook and started to write a long Italian letter. To sum it up she said no to his offer but with all the Italian swears she knew. She accidentally dropped her brother's letter without realizing.
Daso climbed up to the top bunk, curling up against the wall. He felt…conflicted. There were altogether too many emotions and thoughts jumbling through his head. The jubilation from his sister's letter. The anger and trepidation at his father's unopened letter. And the…conflicted passionate and almost scary feelings he had for Jasper. He wasn't sure what to think. Taking his father's letter between finger and thumb, he tossed it off to the side. He wasn't in the mood to read it. He just wanted to sleep.
Adrielle brushed her long hair, so that it was almost glimmering gold. She sat on the cot that had been set up in Jane’s cabin, and she was humming.
She hadn’t gotten any letters. None. She wasn’t surprised, though. Her parents would never care enough about her to send her anything. In fact, it has taken her burning down six houses in one week for them to send her here.
Smirking, Adrielle remembered the panic in their eyes as the officer talked to them. They had no idea what to do with her, and talking about her just made it worse. She closed her eyes contentedly, before slipping her hand into her sweatshirt pocket and pulling out a single match.
(wait is daso in bed w jasper or is he in his own bunk)
(his own bunk)
Jasper took his shirt off and threw himself on his back onto the mattress. He snuck a look at everyone's faces as they read their letters. Daso had thrown one of his letters on the side of his bed without opening it. Jasper had a hunch it was from his father, though he couldn't be sure.
Declan looked at the ceiling, fiddling with his headphones. I just wanted you to know I'm sorry. He wondered what his mother would've said if she was still here. She'd be disappointed. Blinking back tears, he turned on his side, willing sleep to come.
Adrielle stood, pacing back and forth across the floor. She was bored, and itched for a fight. She still had traces of adrenaline pulsing through her, from the run to her matches, and she needed action. The thrill of the chase. The smell of burning skin and singed hair. The sound of crackling flames. The taste of smoke, clogging her nose and blocking her airway. She needed something to burn, or she would go crazy.
Victoria snuck into the councilors cabin. She opened the door to an office and saw Adrielle. ”Hey pyro, ” she said walking in.
(i'm about to sound so stupid right now)
(but who's victoria again??)
(It's fine I forgot about her too. She got punched by Cat and then made allies with pyro)
Adrielle glanced up and gave a mock salute. “Hey. What’re you doing here?”
She leaned against the door frame. “this place is boring. Don't you think it's time to spice things up?” she asked.
