Chase nervously approached the demonic being, chewing his lip. Gooseflesh appeared down his arms as this feeling of unease settled in his gut. Here I am, making a deal with a demon…
Lucifer crossed his fingers together and glowered at the human.
“What is your name?” He wasn’t curious, he needed to know. It was what bound a contract to two people.
Chase shrunk where he was standing, a thin layer of nervous sweat coating his skin, “Chase Goeman,” He squeaked nervously, biting his tongue to distract himself from the weight of the demon’s gaze. This was probably a mistake, wasn’t it?
Lucifer squinted at Chase. “Are you sure you wanna do this? It won’t hurt.” Maybe just a pinch…
“I… Yes, I’m- I’m ready. I want to do this,” Chase took a deep breath, pushing away that fear at the last second. He nodded, trying to affirm it for himself. Just… he felt so alone. And he didn’t think he could handle it anymore.
Lucifer gave Chase a rather bored look. “Okay, this’ll pinch a bit, ‘kay?” Lucifer reached out with no other warning and took his soul. Chase’s body seemed to protest against the loss of his soul, because there was a sharp flash of pain along with it.
Chase stumbled forward, biting his tongue to keep from crying out as the unexpected pain burst within him for a second. Then he felt… hollow. Like his lungs were carved out of his chest but he could still breathe. So he was stuck there, still reeling from what just happened.
Lucifer ran his teeth over the firm surface of the human soul. It was flimsy, but it’d have to do. He set it up away into a cabinet above his head and floated back down into a sitting position.
“Okay. There you are.”
Chase had trouble remembering how to speak for a moment, “Why…” Why did it have to feel like that? He gulped, trying to recollect himself. “Was it supposed to feel like that?” Chase managed to get out.
Lucifer shrugged. “It’s different for everyone.” He leaned back on his window, sighing. “I suppose you can have one of the rooms here, to sleep n’ stuff.”
“I… um… where are the rooms?” Chase asked nervously, stepping away from the demonic being -what was his name?- after he realized he had been standing fairly close.
“They’re just out the door, to the left, up the stairs. Choose any room you want.” He turned back to face the window, sighing. This rude human didn’t even ask his name. Was it that obvious he was Lucifer?
(Okay so I kinda want a ship but I’m unsure.
If we can ship I have an idea)
(Yes, I’d love to ship them!)
“I… um… th-thank you…” Chase replied nervously, moving to head towards where the rooms were supposed to be located. To be honest, knowing him, he’d probably get lost even with directions.
(Okay so I was thinking Chase could accidentally stumble into Lucifer’s room and just snuggle up into his bed, leaving Lucifer stuck on what to do)
Lucifer nodded. “Just come down if you need anything.” He sighed softly. A human who wanted friendship. Definitely different.
(Oh my gosh yes)
Chase scurried out the door then up the stairs, looking to find the rooms. He cautious went to the end of the hall, then just decided on a random door and slipped inside. The room looked fairly adorned, for a guest bedroom, but he didn’t think twice about it as he spotted the large bed. Chase slipped underneath the sheets, smiling a little despite everything as he let himself get sleepy.
The bed was plush and large, and it sunk under his weight. As he drifted off, Lucifer watched the Demons until they all seperated off to their homes. Lucifer rose to his feet and strided from the room, going up the flight of steps and to his room. He opened the door to see the human sleeping there.
Chase turned a little, but he didn’t have a large bed like that at home so he still slept deeply. He looked peaceful, a tiny smile somehow still on his face even in the grasp of sleep.
Lucifer walked over and poked the human. He wasn’t in the middle of his bed, so he could squeeze in, but why would he do that?
“Five… more… minutes…” Chase mumbled in his sleep, tugging at the blanket a little bit in a half-asleep attempt to pull the blankets over his head.
Lucifer sighed softly. “Human. I request that you roll over so I can also enjoy my bed.”
Chase rolled over tiredly, not processing who had spoken to him until a few moments later. His eyes nearly popped out of his head, and then he was scrambling to sit up as his heart began to race with panic. “I- This- This is your bed?”
Lucifer let his arm fall to his side. He nodded. “It is. But I don’t mind if we both use it. It is big enough for the both of us.”
“I should go…” Chase mumbled, “I’m-I’m a- a nuisance,” He cursed himself for his nervous stutter, but he couldn’t fix himself. Maybe it was a good idea to sell his soul, it’s not like he’d be wanted anywhere else. And the nervousness in his body language seemed to fade because of the deafening roar of emptiness as the thought settled in. I’m just… not wanted. “I’m sorry…”
Lucifer shook his head. “Stay. I will sleep here with you. You are lonely, yes? Another body in the bed will help.” He laid down carefully, relaxing with a sigh. He looked steadily at the human next to him. He was interesting. Something about him made Lucifer feel a weird touch of squeeze in his stomach. Made him want to help them, too.
Chase slowly snuggled back down into blankets at the words. Even if he felt alone, those words… a little flicker of warmth sparked in his chest, to fight back against the emptiness. “Thank you,” He whispered with a small voice as he closed his eyes, curling onto his side.
Lucifer nodded a little. He found it quite funny a human was reaching out to him, since he was the King of Demons and all, but he was willing to help. Sure. It might be his weak Angel showing through again, but he didn’t care.
“Hey…” Chase began quietly, figuring now would be the best time as any, “You never told me your name…”
Lucifer glanced at him. “Oh, my name is Lucifer, Chase.”
“Lucifer? As in like… like the Lucifer?” Chase furrowed his brow a little but was overall too tired to care that much about it. He snuggled a bit further under the blankets, accidentally moving a bit closer to Lucifer in the process.
Lucifer yawned and tucked himself into the sheets. They were already warm and comfy.
“Yes. I’m Lucifer.”
