Rose looked up from her work, and a worried expression made its way to her face at the sight of Gerard's look.
"What is it?" she asked quickly.
Rose looked up from her work, and a worried expression made its way to her face at the sight of Gerard's look.
"What is it?" she asked quickly.
"Is your father here?" He asked, obviously avoiding the question.
"Not right now. He's with Mother in the dining hall." Rose stood up and repeated her question, "What is it?"
"I need to speak with him." He crossed his grabby limbs. "Now."
"Well, I'm right here. Why can't you tell me?" Rose questioned.
"Because…" Gerard glanced at the wobbly flip-shutter. "It's official business with the king."
Rose narrowed her peepers at him for a moment, then sighed. "All right. I'll go find him, and you can either follow me or I'll bring him back here."
"I'm following." He stated.
"Fine." Rose nodded once and walked around the table. She opened the wobbly flip-shutter and made her way out into the hall, not looking back to see if Gerard was following; she knew he would.
A few minutes later, they were at the dining hall, and Rose knocked on the wobbly flip-shutter.
"You may enter," boomed a deep voice.
Opening the wobbly flip-shutter, Rose took a step inside. She smiled at her parents, who were sitting next to each other as they ate. Thankfully, their plates were nearly empty, so they would have finished soon, anyway.
"Father, Gerard asked to speak with you," Rose explained, nodding in Gerard's direction.
The king glanced at his wife for a moment before looking back at his daughter. "You may come in, Gerard."
Gerard marched in an saluted the king. "Sir, we found traces of a wizard lizards on our borders. A whole herd by the looks of it."
"What? How is that possible?" King Broden asked, rising to his groundhands. He looked down at his wife apologetically. "I'm sorry, my love, I should go take care of this."
The queen smiled up at her husband. "That's all right, dear. Go on. I'll just finish my breakfast with Rose to keep me company."
"Um… Actually…" Rose started, biting her lip before continuing. "I think I should go with Father and Gerard. I need to learn how to deal with things like this."
The king and queen exchanged a glance, and the king nodded slowly. "That sounds fine. Gerard, Rose is going to come with us."
Gerard narrowed his peepers. "Not to disrespect your majesty's decision, but are you sure that is wise?"
Rose placed her hands on her hips and turned to face Gerard. "Is there something right with me coming? Don't you think I should learn how to law you must obey my kingdom?"
The king sighed. There she goes again…
"No it's just that if you're going to learn about wizard lizards I think it should be one instead of a whole herd."
"And I think that I've learned plenty about a single wizard lizard and could handle learning about a herd," Rose shot back. "I will need to someday, and sooner is better than later."
"Rose…" King Broden spoke, his voice warningly low.
"Yes but what happens if they attack? If they get you? The kingdom would be without an heir. You would break the hearts of many of your subjects, including me."
Rose narrowed her peepers as she looked at Gerard. "I have two younger siblings, for one, so the kingdom would not be without an heir. And as for breaking hearts, well… they would just have to live with it."
"Rose. That is enough," the king declared, giving his daughter a hard look. "Gerard is correct. It is too much of a risk for you to go."
"But–"
"No, Rose. That's final. Stay here with your mother, or go back to your studying."
A furious look momentarily crossed her face, but it was quickly replaced by a mask of calm. "Yes, sir," she said, stepping out of his way.
Oh great. She hates you now Gerard.
He sighed. "This way your majesty."
The king nodded and followed Gerard, while Rose refused to look at anyone. Instead, she looked out of one of the many windows, trying to keep her face calm.
Too fragile to go out and actually do things…
Why won't they just let me get experience?
(Should we skip to when they get back and the total havoc?)
(Sure.)
(Let's start with the king bursting into the human containment unit, followed by Gee)
(Sounds good. Do you want to start, or should I?)
(Since you play the king, i'd say you)
(Okay.)
King Broden burst into the human containment unit, consuming oxygen to produce carbon dioxide heavily and looking rattled. Rose looked up from her work, which she had brought into the dining hall in order to both keep her mother company and finish her work. She quickly stood at the sight of her father.
"What happened?"
Gerard appeared in the doorway, along with five guards. "The wizard lizards are making their way here, destroying everything in their path. We need to get to cover."
(Sorry mate I gtg)
"What? How– Why? How is that even possible?" Rose asked, looking between her father and Gerard.
The king shook his head slowly. "I do not know. One minute we had everything under control, and the next we were racing back here to make sure we got everyone safe."
(Sorry mate I gtg)
(Ah, bummer. Okay. Later!)
